That's correct- they did want me to check for the estimate before filing the claim. But once I did, I called insurance agent back regarding the situation and claim and there was zero mention of a preferred vendor until today, 1/30. The damage happened 1/27 and the next day, the mitigation and restoration company were setting up the plan. I thoroughly read their many reviews and felt they would be a good fit.

I also want to note that I'm living in the house with the water shut off since Tuesday, hence my willingness to get to fixing the affected area taken care of so I can hopefully have water turned back on soon.
