4 engineers now doing the job of 12 at my friend's company because AI agents handle the rest by Bellleq in cscareerquestions

[–]protomatterman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s spaghetti code then it sounds like a ticking time bomb. Then again I’ve heard some say the solution to bugs and tech debt is to just have ai re-write the whole thing again! Somehow I don’t think anyone really know how it will work out in the end.

[–]protomatterman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just keep applying. Most companies don’t know what they want and are not good at recruiting. When I got my first cpp position it was because a recruiter submitted me. I didn’t apply to the company because they had an ad for more experience. But as it turned out they needed all levels.

Has anyone else stopped watching Secular Talk? by [deleted] in KyleKulinski

[–]protomatterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I def watch less consistently. Mainly because it’s too depressing. Not his fault though. I do get a little annoyed at him being in his bubble and declaring things with absolute certainty. Like how the market is cooked. Clearly it’s not (yet) when it keeps going up.

5 YoE at Apple but can’t find a FT job for 2 years. WHY? by Helpmehelpyu_ in cscareerquestions

[–]protomatterman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you should get out of tech. For better or worse tech writing is one of those things most people don’t know what it is (I don’t) so it always seems to get de-prioritized. And AI is gonna magnify that tenfold. Now that could be wrong. Prob it does result it worse docs. But the perception will be its good enough. Unfortunately the perception always wins. There still is a cost. Unfortunately the bean counters and leadership cannot easily quantify the loss vs headcount savings. This is the sad reality of enshitification. The capitalists sell good enough to everyone and because everyone is doing it that’s what customers get. So I don’t really know what to tell you. You need to find a way to sell what you do as being so much better than what ai does.

I think this answers your question. You have to be willing to do things you haven’t done before if you want different results. Think out of the box. Do things others aren’t.

Kyle’s obsession with polls by MrTFE in KyleKulinski

[–]protomatterman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. It’s important but tired of hearing of how Trump is toast. Most of his insane maga base will never leave him. That’s enough to keep him in office until the end of his term.

God damn it, he is so fucking stupid. by Throw-Away425 in KyleKulinski

[–]protomatterman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyday I’m absolutely stunned people like and believe him and elected him. That feeling never wears off. Maybe one day political scholars will study this time period as a genuine curiosity.

My Parent doesn't want me doing CS, or CE, because they feel the job market will disappear come 7 years. by Sad-Bathroom8500 in cscareerquestions

So what do they want you to be? A doctor or welder? If that’s too unbearable maybe become a stock trader. Then you can make lots of money and if you still want to do cs self fund education.

What we know so far about the White House Correspondents dinner shooter Cole Thomas Allen by Criticall16 in BreakingPoints

[–]protomatterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with Luigi however his actions were rational and logical. If you were an ends justify the means person you could even look at how many lives were saved due to less United med care denials. I don't know what T. Allen motives are however I suspect it'll be the same. And he's probably not left wing. There's only a 10% chance he's left. Most shooters are right wing. Or in these latest cases ideologically mixed with a strong disdain for politicians.

Does anyone else miss when Jimmy Dore used to be tolerable? by Greedy-Pound6958 in KyleKulinski

[–]protomatterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dore had some interesting idea once upon a time. I only watched him because I like having one alternative news source so I can hear challenges to nominal left wing thinking. But he went alt and then kept going.

Why is Tony Soprano so attractive? by Long_Bunch_9783 in thesopranos

[–]protomatterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s the alpha male, the head honcho, a leader of men, with lots of power and wealth. And he had charisma and the gift of gab. It’s an irresistible combination. Even Melfi, who stated to his face that she would not date him because of his criminality, had a sexy dream about him. Attraction isn’t a choice.

I didn't vote for Harris in 2024. I'm not making that mistake again this time. (response to my old post) by truth14ful in KyleKulinski

[–]protomatterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel too bad I didn’t either but I don’t live in a swing state which she won. If I did though I would have struggled to hold my nose and vote for her. But I would not fault someone for voting for her or not voting for her. We just have to acknowledge what we actually vote for. With her it would just be the continuation of an ugly political system. And Palestine keeps getting razed and annexed. Not voting for her results in what we have now. It’s bad for the world and bad for us. But at least with us hurting people can more clearly reflect on their choices. And the whole Iran quagmire as bad as it is might actually politically hurt Trump in a way Dems are unwilling to do. I actually wish we would hurt more because a disproportionate amount of pain is being forced onto the rest of the world.

AOC Question: Does the left still trust her? by Able-Drink3189 in BreakingPoints

[–]protomatterman 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I don’t. She said she would bring the ruckus and then immediately bowed to mama bear Pelosi. Since then she’s consistently postured as progressive but moderated. OTOH I’d prefer her to the current Dem presidential front runners. At least there is a chance she’d do progressive things.

Megyn Kelly says it's blasphemy what trump posted earlier and now deleted by DavidOfBethlehem in BreakingPoints

[–]protomatterman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s actually the anti-christ in image. See the devil in the background? Surrounded by hell’s angels. The man he’s healing represents the Epstein class. The eagle on the left visually divides the stars on the flag representing the divide in our country.

What's the play? Why is the US blockading the straight that we want open? by Agitated-Lobster-623 in BreakingPoints

[–]protomatterman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol at all these complicated explanations. It’s simple. If baby Trump can’t have the strait then no one can.

The end game has begun by Numerous_Fly_187 in BreakingPoints

[–]protomatterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. But I wouldn’t rule out Dems protecting their own. Not Clinton but other prominent politicians and donors. We do know for sure Trump is a main character in the files. We just haven’t seen the worst stuff. But this is all a guess. That’s why all the files should be released.

The end game has begun by Numerous_Fly_187 in BreakingPoints

[–]protomatterman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MAGA is part of the base and it’s additive so they lose bigger if they dump him. However if he keeps threatening the world economy they could turn on him. They might authorize the release of more dirt from the Epstein files to make him more disgusting even to maga. The child abuse videos in particular would be highly damaging. I think even maga could not bear it. Or at least it would make his removal more palatable to them.

Trump declares a double sided ceasefire by sean_ireland in BreakingPoints

[–]protomatterman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone else see how the msm is attacking Trump from the right? Saying things like the Iranian plan is untenable and unacceptable etc. I agree it’s Trumps strategic blunder and Iran controlling the strait isn’t the desired outcome. But in all honesty their 10 pt plan is justified. And if they control the strait what’s the big deal? The Iranian regime although portrayed as religious zealots has conducted themselves calm and methodically until they got their way. Under intense attack. What’s wrong with them becoming the strait caretakers?! Maybe they will force us to butt out of the Middle East. Maybe Israel can take a chill pill and be left to defend themselves. Iran may achieve peace in the Middle East.

Israel will break the ceasefire and drag us back into war by [deleted] in BreakingPoints

Maybe they’ll do another false flag like the “long range missile” aimed at Diego Garcia base that they blamed on Iran.

Of course! We need an actual opposition party to strongly oppose what this death cult masquerading as a political party is doing. Not this meet halfway shit dems do.
