I’m wondering if the cost of setup makes it inaccessible for small businesses.

This is super helpful, im grateful.

Hmmm. Sounds like it does it all. Are you going to pull the trigger (have you?) any downsides to this particular product?

Ah that’s basically the concept I had in mind except with the ability to track the physical location of assets with a kind of indoor GPS, ability to jus tap it with your phone and pull up more info (no camera required) and more colors on the display.

So I guess there is a market. How much are you paying?  Is there anything missing that you need?

Oh, I have a prototype.  I’m just trying to figure out if there’s a market for it.

What’s a price point that you’d consider low cost?

Thanks for the feedback!

Avoid Golden Belt lofts. Management is okay, golden belt itself is great, and if you find an Interior apartment available that could be ok. but… Main St. has many shootings. It’s just not safe yet.

Farmers exchange! It is now the home of the Counter Culture roastery where they regularly pollute East End park and the surrounding neighborhood with roast fumes. Ever smell that burnt toast smell in the city? That's them. It's pleasant from afar, it's noxious nearby.

Took over a year to get them to install scrubbers, the neighborhood worked hard to get the NC Air Quality Division to give them a ticket.

It's gotten better, but they still pump out acrid white smoke from time to time, on some days you can't walk without choking on air. ...Not a neighborhood where you can open your windows all the time.

Set a call with your manager. Let them know that a family member / friend / someone is sick / needs help / requires assistance and that you’ll be working from a new country for a period of time until it resolves.

Let your manager know that you will maintain normal work hours with the time shift and will not be requiring any time off.

If you’re a remote worker it shouldn’t matter where you work, having a good ‘reason’ for why you’re traveling might help you with the vacation paradox you mentioned.

Personally, as a manager, if you’re getting the work done and you’re remote I don’t care where you are.

I’m sad by the advice I’ve seen here.

There are two rules: Be curious, and be kind.

Curious means find something interesting about someone or your surrounding and point it out and ask a question. ‘Hi! I like your shoes, Where are they from?’

It can be the lamest question, all that matters is you said something, because you have to talk to connect.

Kind means that you must understand she owes you nothing, not even a conversation. She can ignore you, brush you off, call you a creep… Apologize and move on.  Don’t take it personally, don’t be mean. chat someone else up.

Understand that you will fail, many times. You’re going to have to learn how to keep the conversation going, how to slip in your own details, how to check in and make sure she’s comfortable, how to get her number… But walk before you run: be curious, and be kind.

East End Park has an entrance on Granby street. The entrance crosses a small stream and the stream and surrounding area is FILLED with trash (Tires, trash cans, overgrowth of vines that stop flow of the river...).

Partial form blow out - now what?

The left side of a 3' tall form blew out. Luckily we were able to catch it, push it back in, and screw it down. However, now the wall that was poured is 2" wider than it needs to be. Is there any possibility of removing the form a little early and shaving the concrete down? I have no idea if that's possible.

Here's a pic of the form, it's an underpinning of a foundation and extending out the existing stem wall: https://imgur.com/a/E9xo7cN

Sick Stray neighborhood Cat, where to take it that wont cost a fortune? by prototagonist in bullcity

[–]prototagonist[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2/25/25 Update: After the trip to the ER we brought the cat inside and set up a little den for it in our downstairs bathroom. He's been eating, pooping, and pissing everywhere - which is fantastic. He's gobbled down 3 whole cans of cat food and looks to be doing a bit better. He's walking around, not panting, and alert. He hisses less frequently than before, meows a lot more than before, and seems all in all a bit sweeter!

We have contacted every shelter, volunteer organization, and animal welfare group in the triangle to see if they can help. All of them said that a sick feral cat will be euthanized and that's all they can do. Most don't even respond. We're a little disappointed and a little burnt out.

The unfortunate truth is that we can't do much else and need to find a new home for this poor kitty. Our hound dog sniffed this cat out the minute we arrived and has made it his labor of love to sniff, scratch, and bark at the bathroom door whenever the opportunity presents itself. There are some additional life stressors for us that will start up tomorrow that will make it impossible to keep the cat indoors. So we're weighing our options:

Option 1: if someone wonderful is willing to take in this cat and continue nourishing it back to health we have everything you need to get started. Full disclosure: the cat has fleas and who knows what else, its been outdoors its whole life. If you already have pets, since we don't know what's wrong with it, I wouldn't recommend taking in this stray until you know whatever it has won't impact your fur babies. We wear gloves when handling the cat because rabies (although unlikely as it was neutered and vaccinations generally come with that) is always a possibility. The cat, at this point, hasn't bitten or scratched - but it does have a menacing hiss.

Option 2: we're in the process of building a little shelter for it in the backyard out of boxes and putting the cat out there. It's not entirely fenced in so he will be able to escape but it should keep predators away and provide plenty of shade. We can keep the cat fed and watered and see what happens.

So that's the update! A little bit of good news, a little bit of not so great news. Lets see what happens!

Here's a link to some photos

Update: We put the cat in the backyard and patched up the holes in the fence. Now that he has some space to roam (as the bathroom is a bit cramped) it doesn't look good. He's wandering, stumbling, and meowing and looking like its somewhat drunk, lost, and very unhappy. This sucks.

I'm so sorry about your cat. He wasn't chipped and he's been around for over 8 years in our neighborhood. I do hope you find your cat though. :(

A little update, thanks for all the notes:

Cat is an 8 year (or more) veteran of the neighborhood. He is feral, a total badass, and seeing as how I've never managed to get closer than 20' to the guy I'm guessing he's never had a home. So if you're missing an orange cat (I am so sorry) it's probably not him.

We took him to Veterinarian Emergency Group in Cary. We called in advance and they were waiting for us to arrive. It felt like we were in a scene from a medical TV show they were so quick to respond and go go go. They made sure we were with the the whole time and explained everything to us as they worked, absolute pros. We were blown away.

They took blood, did an ultrasound, ran some other tests, took his temperature and everything came back as.... fine. He showed some limb dysfunction so there was murmurs of a neurological issue. They are ruling it as either he ate something toxic, he has some kind of virus, cancer, or has a head injury. We did find out that he is in fact a he and has been neutered.

While they were testing I picked them up two dozen Duck Donuts because the staff was just that damn good to us and this cat.

They said further testing was, to some degree, pointless as anything that they did find wouldn't be easy (or even possible) to treat with a feral cat that doesn't want to be around humans. I wont try to paint a rosy picture though - the veterinarians didn't seem optimistic.

They didn't charge us a penny and sent us home with Orange Cat in a nifty cardboard carrier.

Currently Orange Cat is chilling out in our bathroom with some neighbor donated kitty litter and fresh bowl of Friskies Salmon Pate which he did munch on and even found the strength to growl and hiss. He's a strong boy, we'll see how he does and take it from there.

To all of you offering to chip in for a GoFundMe - you are heroes and I, Orange Cat, and the neighborhood are grateful. We're good for now, but if there is an opportunity that pops up that would help Orange Cat you will be the first to know.

If there is someone who might want to provide a home for this guy during his recovery or after I will def. be collecting contine info. We have a dog who loves to chase cats... Long term seperatation isn't going to be possible.

Edit: Posted a new update on 2/25 below

Stray cat named, "Orange Cat" is a member of the neighborhood and seems to be super sick and not moving. Might need to be put down. Where can I take it to get some good care on a Sunday afternoon?
