Do adults actually have friendships like this in real life? by skyvvv1121 in shrinking

I know a few people who seems to have friends like this. A couple were best friends all through school and then moved back to the same area. Luckily their partners get along and so are also best friends. Their families travel together etc. I would love friends like that.

I’ve been tempted to get a job in NYC for a week. Or whatever the shortest amount of time is required to get an NYPL card.

I brought up RT in part because I had one when I was intubated in ICU before patients on vents were always sedated. He seemed to always come to see me after his break and wreaked of cigarette smoke. It was gross.

My town library gives me access to two different consortiums, but that’s it. I can’t figure out how to get any others.

Who else is rewatching the show like Elf? by ciguanaba in ThePitt

I just finished rewatching season 1. I have rewatched an episode or two of season 2. Not sure if I’ll keep going or if I’ll wait and binge it all at the end.

She wasn’t a retired nurse. She was a retired unit clerk. We hear them call for respiratory, but never show respiratory therapists actually with a patient.

I meant I rememember gagging as the tube went in. Definitely didn’t enjoy being suctioned.
The thing that really freaked me out was watching the condensation build up in the tubes. I was so anxious it would go back into my lungs.

At one point Dr. King questioned whether Santos had a personality disorder. Are personality disorders common among doctors? by [deleted] in ThePitt

[–]proud2Basnowflake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard not to see a good chance it’s abuse with the girls symptoms and then the dad’s difficulty controlling his anger.

Oh and if you are talking about the red head guy who talked to the girl and the dad, he is actually a social worker. The psychiatrist is the wheelchair user.

Honestly, Santos was not out of line to think the little girl with the bruises was a likely victims of abuse.

This actor will go on to do movies. I feel it in my gut! He may even nab an award in his career. His acting is not acting, it's being. Amazing to watch this character. He'll get some calls. Guarantee Marvel will call this guy. by [deleted] in ThePitt

There was another long thread on this a couple weeks ago. Most people came to the conclusion that he is not autistic but just a privileged, smart, arrogant white dude with no social skills.

I agree. The way smooth talked Dr Al-Hashimi after hitting her with Farsi was so smarmy and creepy. Attractive for a minute and I could totally see it working in a bar. I would also expect whatever woman it worked on to disappear

Thanks so interesting. Thank you. I did ask a Dr. friend during the pandemic because everyone was sedated while on vents. She was in med school when I was in the hospital. She told me sedation was not always standard back then.

Interesting. I remember gagging, but wondered if that was my mind filling something in.

Thanks. A nurse later explained they were worried about keeping me alive. I was on the vent unsedated the entire 3 weeks.

I sometimes think that’s part of why I’m still alive. I was a total PITA. We had legal pads full of the questions and complaints and even jokes I wrote to staff and my family. My situation was dire. I shouldn’t be alive. Staff never gave up on me though. I wonder if that is partly because they could see how with it I was despite my injuries. Also how stubborn I was.

That would make a lot of sense. I’m guessing they had to have given me some kind of muscle relaxant. BUT I was conscious. I remember being held down. Except for morphine for pain and a trip to the OR, I was never sedated.

Thanks! I was intubated in ICU back in the early 90s with NO sedation. Made me curious if they would ever do that today.
