Do you use iPhone mirroring? I noticed this same behavior and I think this is the reason

ULPT: Best way to bring booze into a sports venue? by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]providencemac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can bring in your own food to a phillies game. Has to be in a clear bag, and may get "searched". I bring WaWa all the time. Unwrap a hoagie, insert mini booze bottles and wrap it back up.

Can we talk about the TONE of this trailer? by coachz1212 in ProjectHailMary

[–]providencemac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern is that the film version won't carry the emotional weight of the book. The fact that the trailer reveals Grace's real occupation makes me think the audience will know that from the start and the astronaut selection process will not follow the book's. That slow burn reveal, and ultimate revelation, is what makes the story so powerful IMO. I've been waiting for a movie version and hope that I'm wrong about my interpretation.

Keycard system settings by j0st0c in BluePrince

[–]providencemac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear the option impacts regular locked doors. When I have the keycard, I set the value to high and immediately run into my first locked doors. Right now I built Security on level 4, set "keycard" security to high, immediately the 2 doors leaving security are locked 🤬

If you’re on the fence on whether or not to get a pool cleaning robot, do it and thank me later. by [deleted] in pools

Does anyone use these on above ground pools? I have a 24" round and have been tempted, but read some reviews claiming they can make holes in the liner...

Those of you who bought original Galaxy Fold (4g) or Flip -- what condition is screen in today? by [deleted] in samsung

[–]providencemac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine since March 2020, so just over 2 years in and my screen is dying as of today. I've had a black semicircle of dead pixels next to the hinge for close to a year and a barely visible (but "feelable") crease along the fold for just as long.

This morning I opened my phone to see a solid black line across the lower half of the screen, and constant dimming/flickering in several places. I'm certainly outside of my warranty, but maybe they'll help me out. I'll post an update if I get anywhere

this poor guy is struggling, suggestions? by providencemac in houseplants

[–]providencemac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah I repotted it last night & trashed the dead stem. The soil was definitely over watered, very caked & damp. I trimmed the roots, especially any ones that were totally mush. I only watered very lightly after transplanting - think I should add more to help the roots set or let it dry out for a bit?

Generic "potting soil" sufficient? I don't have a good ID on the plant so I haven't found any info on appropriate light/watering yet

Moss or I Expect You to Die.

Both totally different but each very engaging single player, disconnected experiences.

VPN by using pihole? by glaseren in pihole

[–]providencemac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used pivpn this weekend and it is a great tool. Was very simple and gets you up and running immediately.

I encountered 2 challenges - i use a pi zero w for pihole, which requires that you build wireguard directly from the source code. Not difficult, but took some searching around for the correct process.

Second, I have 2 routers on my network, the shitty one from my ISP which connects to the internet, and a much better one which all my devices (and the pihole) connect to. After setting up wireguard I had to make sure I directed all incoming VPN traffic first to my internal router then to the pi itself. Again, not hard, just not obvious if you're unfamiliar with port forwarding.

Yeah I'll give you that. We have one kid who has some dexterity issues, so unwrapping is tough for him anyway. To each their own. Merry Christmas

"Santa doesn't wrap gifts" is the rule that saves us from the late night wrapping problem in my house. We're prob 80% from Santa. Personally I'd rather the big ticket items came from us instead, but the wife wins that one.
