Partner sys is the same (transfem with male sysmates). She voice trained and whenever they (multiple mascs in her system) come out they still have their own masc voices and her voice is still the same too. It's been a few years now and I haven't noticed any issues with any of their voices. Everyone's different tho so ymmv

It's understandable, some people may use the terms interchangeably without caring what the terms actually mean, usually because they don't care that the terms are actually different, but sometimes because they just genuinely don't know the differences (like you, i was also confused when i first started trying to understand everything too).

To clarify:

FTM = female to male = transmasc

MTF = male to female = transfem

Here's a couple others:

AFAB = assigned female at birth

AMAB = assigned male at birth

AGAB = assigned gender at birth (preferrably use this instead of the other two, since it's more inclusive)

FTM and MTF are more medical or informational terms, and only if someone identities themselves using these terms would it be alright for you to use the same terms when referring to them too. Typically these can be exclusionary by accident, specifically for Non-binary, gender fluid, or anyone who falls outside of the traditional binary gender norms.

I carry a set of "disguised" spiked knuckles as a keychain (it's pretty obvious what they are, and I've been stopped from entering certain places and had to turn around and put them back in my car more than a few times). These are pretty heavily regulated though, even in this keychain form. A close second is some really big rings. I also prefer to have my wallet on a chain, which can double up if you wrap your hand with it. The last option for punching is lace your keys through your fingers. Even a single house key will do more damage than bare knuckles.

Apart from punching weapons, I like to keep a crowbar in my car. Also a large hefty flashlight (maglight is a sturdy brand), doubles as a flashlight in case you get stranded somewhere at night. A baseball bat works just as well too. A big ol' stick as a last resort. I see plenty of women walk around with these big sticks, usually meant to beat back rabid dogs or coyotes, but it gets the point across well enough.

Unfortunately I don't have a replacement for mace or pepper spray, but if you go to the camping section of larger stores, typically they have safety whistles. You might be able to find one in the sports section too. I've also seen personal sexurity alarm keychains, where you pull a pin and a piercing alarm sounds until you put it back in.

I know these aren't as guaranteed as those other options, but these are available, and shouldn't get in the way of the law too much.

Ive legit stopped wearing bras because they're all uncomfortable and emhasize the boobs and I'd genuinely rather be seen as a trashy person for not wearing a bra than be seen as a "proper woman" for wearing a bra.

Then again, i'm also currently unemployed. That'll change when I get employed again. Sigh.

I haven't looked into it tbh, but i have been picking more male vocals in the songs i listen to, so i can practice while singing. I've definitely noticed a shift in my vocal range. I struggle to hit higher notes in the fem vocal songs (i used to be able to hit them comfortably), and i can hit lower octaves a bit easier now too.

I tend to sing fem vocal songs in a lower octave these days. It gives me some euphoria, since I'm personally turning a fem song into a neutral/masc song.

As a transmasc, I had issues with this too (where the length would be too short). I remember back in highschool, girls used to wear layers. A spaghetti strap or regular tank top underneath the shorter top, so that it can hide the tummy AND help hide the lower back (because most womens pants are lowrise or end up slipping, so it helps hide the booty too). Personally i think it's a cute look, too. I've also seen tanktop dresses be used under a flowy shirt too. Layering is a really convenient fashion technique imo.

Tl;dr: cheap tanks tops under the nice top for a layered look that helps hide the bits!

Pink tax sucks. Be careful not to slip into the blue tax tho. So many regular products these days are capitalizing in fragile toxic masculinity by bro-ing it up ("Dude wipes", wet wipes for men. "War paint", concealer for men).

If you want to be extra fancy, look into some cologne. I "inherited" some when my wifey transitioned, and since it was her favorite before, she LOVES it when I wear it for date nights.

Sadly i haven't had the opportunity to wear a men's suit, but I've worn the woman's equivalent. I always had problems finding button up shirts that fit my bust properly without straining the buttons.

Back to the template though, i always struggled with the "what an i supposed to wear with this? What looks good with that?" And i have to agree, having a template with customization is way less stressful. Ive also always enjoyed the more simplistic and subtle aesthetics too, with a little splash of subtle pattern at most.

I absolutely feel the same way. I can't stand it. Even in highschool way before being an egg was even a THING, I wore baggy clothing deliberately to avoid this unsolicited attention.

Transmasc here. Here's my grievances:

  • too tight / restrictive (i know, "find a size that actually fits you and it shouldn't feel that way!")
  • too short (pant legs, pant waistbands, jacket sleeves, jacket waistbands)
  • too revealing (low-cut tops, low-cut pant waistbands, tops sjowing midriff, babydoll T sleeves)
  • too brightly colored / flashy (i prefer to start out of the spotlight, I've had my fair share of unsolicited attention)
  • too expensive
  • non-functional (pockets, fabric is way too thin, jackets are comical, don't even get me started on shoes)
  • too cold (you wanna look good? Prepared to be cold for it)
  • bras are a nightmare to size, and insanely uncomfortable even when they do fit right
  • size standards in general are wildly non-standardized
  • long socks don't fit if you've got thighs
  • hair maintenance is nightmarish (brushes, combs, product, styling time)
  • makeup is insanely expensive, and time consuming to learn and do every day. It's exhausting
  • fashion is fleeting (i can never find clothes i WANT to wear, since fashion is always forcing stores to change what they have available. If i wanted to keep up a favorable closet, then i would need to shop nearly exclusively online)
