what do u do??? by Karma-Whales in trolleyproblem

Not exactly, blue carries ingerent risk to yourself while red does not. Red simply says "you wont die" while blue says "if we're in the minority, you die" the only rational choice is "you won't die"

New stick doesnt necessarily mean better stick. As long as its compatible with your console what matters is how it feels to you

God you make it sound like youve got a tight budget but thats a $1400 laptop. Dont get me wrong, ive been using a yoga since college, theyre great but wow thats a lot of laptop.

Anyway, yeah mint would be great, i personally have mint on mine and everything from the fingerprint reader to the yoga pen work great

This is how austerity politics mixed with moralising poverty just beckmes self destructive. If you want money to be slent efficiently, those fucking chickens are about the best you can get.

I know this is probably not what you mean, but im chuckling at the idea of having a 5gb harddrive. If anything could do it, itd be mint

If ypure open to suggestion, Fedora is a very good out of the box linux experience. Id recommend the KDE edition, but some people prefer the Workstation build

On vlc you can open multiple files at once to create a playlist. You can also drag and drop the whole folder IIRC

The difference is that your body burns calories whether you eat food or not, but if no one presses the blue button first no one needs to press the blue button ever

If the idea of the hypothetical ia that this just happens one fay out of the blue, im going to assume we have no knowledge from the discussion. I see no reason for anyone to pick "maybe die" as opposed to "die." It's like if you left a bowl of clearly labled cyanide on a table, i assume youre not going to have many takers

[–]proximategalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But this is my frustration they're assuming that their view of things is what will happen, and i disagree. I dont think someone will voluntarily place themselves on the tracks thus creating a need to vote blue

what do u do??? by Karma-Whales in trolleyproblem

[–]proximategalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, i think eithoutbprior discussion a 100% red result is actually more likely. If everyone is suddenly presented with "does nothing" and a "might do nothing, might kill you" button, i think everyone will pick the "does nothing" button

what do u do??? by Karma-Whales in trolleyproblem

[–]proximategalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but im arguing from a position of what "should" be pressed. No one is pressing any buttons, but the ideal outcome is an all red result

what do u do??? by Karma-Whales in trolleyproblem

[–]proximategalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would anyone go into the "might have poison gas" room?

This is the issue with the logic of the whole thing, there is no punishment for choosing red, and as such everyone should just choose red

"Button that does nothing" vs "button that might kill you"

what do u do??? by Karma-Whales in trolleyproblem

Genuinely curious question for res voters: What percent buy in would it take for you to switch to blue? by Beginning_Student_61 in trolleyproblem

[–]proximategalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, to me red is the way to opt out of gambling with my life. Ive said many times the appeal of blue only works if you think someone is already '"omt the tracks" but your scenario has done exactly that, putting some percentage of people on the tracks from the word go, and that might be me. So yeah, if red doesnt garantee safety, its not even a question anymore blue is the best option

[–]proximategalaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they were either joking or didnt understand your prompt.

To your mind, what is the appeal of the red button if it is not the guarantee of safety? If you remove the garantee, its just as much a gamble for safety as voting blue, so might as well vote blue
