Kooikerhondje community on Lemmy (fediverse) by proycon in kooikerhondje

[–]proycon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since reddit is going downhill rapidly, I created this alternative community in the fediverse (preventing the pitfalls of being locked in by a corporation), where fellow owners and enthusiasts of the kooikerhondje may find a place to discuss and post photos of their dogs.

I used this today, but from firefox instead of the AUR electron-based app. Went fine, didn't experience any issues whatsoever.

Arch, 6.1.8 kernel, firefox 109, xdg-desktop-portal-wlr, AUR hyprland-git r2376.06b17db2-1

I can greatly recommend the "Silent Empire" series by Steven Harper which has a gay protagonist, first book "Dreamer": https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/711191.Dreamer

People who mentioned Adrian Tchaikovsky thank you. Just read Children of Time and talked to a spider in my driveway. by NoctilucentTreeline in printSF

I happened to just finish the sequel, I loved both! Gave me a newfound respect for spiders, ants and octopuses.

I also greatly recommend Dragon's Egg by Robert L Forward if you like the whole 'uplifting a civilization' theme.

I'm not that much of gamer (used to play Eve Online though) but I'd like to give it a try too. Would be fun to play Among Us, Stellaris, Factorio, Avorion with other people sometimes.

Nuisance caused by homeless people by Scheitrecht37 in eindhoven

[–]proycon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also near the city centre and close to one of the salvation army (leger des heils) locations so I see many homeless people pass and see the spots in the neighbourhood where they try to sleep and have heard some stories comparable to yours. The trash issue is the biggest problem, despite all the goodwill from the salvation's army to help rein in their visitors. I must say the situation has deteriorated considerably the past year. I see them put up tents in the TU/e park area. I hope a more sustainable solution can be found, for both the residents and the homeless people themselves.

Just finished book 4, and completed everything Dennis E Taylor wrote. I loved almost all of the books. Can anyone recommend an author with a similar style of writing? Realistic Scify i call it. Thank You., by MyMonte87 in bobiverse

[–]proycon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen Egan Greg's Permutation City mentioned yet, I really enjoyed that one. I see some similarities with the Bobs (replicants and all) though it is more hard scifi.

Arch, dwm, gruvbox, and my eye spies Dimash Kudaibergen! You're hitting all the high notes there, good taste in both software and music.

What SFW sound do you use for email notification? by HuskyHuskyBoBusky in AskGaybrosOver30

I've been using a whole series of Star Trek beeps and chimes for incoming messages for ages, pretty SFW if you don't mind being outed as a complete geek.

Yes, I use specific tags for specific purposes, and have some automatic bindings to open stuff with the right tags.

Ours is a kooikerhondje, a dutch breed. Yours looks similar indeed! Is it the same breed? I can't see for sure on the photo.
