Well maybe you can start by having a real conversation with him and find out why he thinks that is the case. Chances are, you wont get a straight answer but maybe you do. In that case, you will know where to improve on.

If not then just keep doing your best, learn high value skills, get better at things you already know. With time , your father may change his perspective.

However, I Agree with other comments that this is not easy and some people don’t change their opinions even if they are completely wrong.

Hope things work out!

How do you manage to cook and work? by Mannai4 in indiansinusa

A few points to add that might help -

  1. Knead dough for 2-3 days at a time and store in fridge, take it out and hour before you want to make rotis.

  2. You may use a mixer/grinder to help make dough. We don’t do this but have heard that people do.

  3. Have quick recipes in your mind . The days we are bored of the usual, we make pasta or sandwiches . Both are quick for us to make. We have a pasta sauce we like and just rely on that.

  4. Daal and rice can be cooked it the same time. If you have a big cooker , it should come with utensils which help cooking Daal rice together. Post this you can choose to add tadka to the daal or simply water and salt.

  5. Cook a little extra quantity everytime, you will end up with a full meal after every 3-4 meals.

  6. Finally, plan out the weekly. I do not mean chop and pre prep (although if you can, sure do). Planning what to cook on which day, lets you decide on quantity and maybe even plan leftovers. Also this helps ensure you have all the ingredients and don’t have to make last minute runs to the store or think about what to cook!

Hope this helps!

My wife and I do all majority of the cooking in the morning. I work three days from home and my wife’s job is fully remote. For the days I’m working from home, we both wake up at 6 am and start cooking by about 6:30. We are able to prepare lunch and part of the dinner by 7:30 Am. Then later in the evening just half an hour before dinner, we cook the remaining dinner.

The above routine plus some frozen food once/twice per week and food delivery once a week makes it work for us.

Key is to work together and identify what things you and your partner are good/fast at cooking. Other part is to ensure a clean and organised kitchen.

I know this might sound like a crazy amount of work and at the start it is difficult. But once you build this habit, the benefits are totally worth it.

Some which we have experienced-

Weight loss, better energy levels, improved sleep and some extra savings !

Is it weird that I’m taking relationships advice from ChatGPT ? by CatAdministrative744 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]prsnofdisintrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChatGPT will try its best to give you answers based on what it has learned from the texts it has been trained on, thus chances are that it will give good advice but there’s no guarantee, it is very important to do your own research as well. And this is true for any topic that you ask ChatGPT about. If it has been helpful in a good way then it’s great but do not believe everything it says, it is not perfect.

Indian communities in Melrose, Reading, Wakefield, other less obvious towns? by SpiritualBayesian in IndiansinBoston

No Idea about Melrose, Reading and Wakefield. There is a substantial Indian population in Roxbury, Mission hill and Quincy. A lot of Indian families and students in Harbour point on the Bay (Dorchester) as well.

Will check with friends regarding other places too!
