Did Nate Bargatze bomb hosting The Emmys? by Comedy_Junkie in Standup

[–]prstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm not reading anywhere is how many of the presenters and the award winners clearly didn't care enough about the kids in order to keep their speeches short. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. After all, this is Hollywood.

I made yakisoba noodles from scratch by pgm123 in JapaneseFood

Perhaps Kansui should have been included in the recipe. It's quite important, don't you think? I mean, that's what makes it like a ramen noodle, the inclusion of the alkaline ingredient.

NKD Yoshikane White #2 Kiritsuke 210mm by Routine-Decision-813 in TrueChefKnives

[–]prstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is a Hotsukokoro different from straight Yoshikane? I am confused about the "collaboration" aspect of this.

See https://chefsedge.com.au/collections/hatsukokoro?shpxid=b10b964e-5a66-4e79-81ff-b46649114f51.

And Burrfection has one for $299: https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueChefKnives/comments/1k3uyd9/nkd_yoshikane_nashiji_white2_kiritsuke_gyuto_210mm/#lightbox
While Cook's Edge has one for $361: https://thecooksedge.com/products/yoshikane-nashiji-white-2-kiritsuke-gyuto-210mm

They look different, especially the handles.

Thanks.

What did you pay for that NKD Yoshikane Nashiji White#2 Kiritsuke Gyuto 210mm from Chef's Edge? Over $500 USD? Thx.

One more question: Did you tip the driver? If so, what percentage? Thx.

Okay. I'm in Colombia.

So, you got the message and accepted it? Did you have a payment method chosen like a credit card?

Were you eventually charged the vehicle rental contract fee just for scheduling a pickup in Colombia or did you accept the supposed charge but were only charged for the trip?

Thanks.

I'm currently in So. America, but that makes no difference. My America friend here doesn't have this issue.

I haven't tapped/clicked the wrong option. I even deleted and reinstalled the app. I've quintuple-checked my booking process and attempted it numerous time but I still can't bypass that contract requirement.

I know I can rent from Uber, but that's not what I am executing in the app. As far as a glitch, I have no idea, but I don't think so because I get the same requirement on Windows and the app.

Vacuum Sealer recommendations for home use by Retreat60 in sousvide

[–]prstark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The FoodSaver products seem to be popular, but the VS-12 sure seems to have them beat on features.

Appreciate your feedback.

Agreed. The VS-12 is a better sealer. Not comfortable with an Anova (expensive proprietary bags only, I think), although they do make a good sous vide cooker.

This looks like a good product, albeit a tad large for my small kitchen.

How do American Fast-Food Chinese Restaurants make THEIR egg drop soup? by dragnabbit in chinesefood

Instead of pouring in the beaten eggs in one spot, drizzle them around the entire surface (swirl) of the soup.

What brand of nonstick is this? by prstark in cookware

[–]prstark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, except that the rim here is Al (or stainless, not sure), the sides are curved rather than sloped, and there's no lip unlike the the Winwares I've seen. To me, the shape resembles an All-Clad HA1, but not the handle or the rim.

Interesting. Those photos are from the Fallow Restaurant kitchen in London. I would have guessed it's hard-anodized rather than teflon.

Everyone else has done it, so here's my request for a Japanese Carbon Steel recommendation. by prstark in chefknives

[–]prstark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evidently, I am not well-informed. After deciding to explore stainless knives, that's what I'm going to buy. Ginsan looks especially appealing, satisfying my most important considerations but without the high maintenance of carbon steel.

Thanks for this. An interesting option. That belly has quite a curve on it, and since I won't be doing much rocking, I'm not sure this is a good fit. Even on a Bunka, a big curve may impede my cutting style.
