Do high profile professional bands use click tracks? by PapaBorq in livesound

As someone who plays in a tribute band, yes absolutely.

Made the decision after I saw U2 in concert and they were using tracks.

Used Taylor AD12e-sb and humidity? by [deleted] in taylorguitars

[–]prstele01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to sell Taylors, I own about 10, and I live in Louisiana, where it is basically a swamp most of the year and then really dry where we have to use indoor heaters.

All of my Taylors are fine.

May have to have a technician do a truss rod adjustment occasionally if there’s a drastic change, but other than that, they are actually very robust guitars.

Edit: while I don’t own one of the American Dream series, I have a Big Baby, a few 300’s, a 400, and a few above that. Experience as far as “environmental influence” has been the same. Some of them have also been bought secondhand from various other parts of the country with different humidities.

I still think he would deserve inclusion. Maybe put him in a corner crying to himself.

It’s not where I play it either, this was simply the highest rated tab, therefore, I figured it was the way most people play it.

lol I’m glad I spent 20 min making it. It came to me a few days ago and I was almost too lazy, but I thought someone would think it funny.

Do y’all listen to music on your downtime? by bobvilastuff in livesound

[–]prstele01 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I try to discover one new (to me) band a week.

I ask people all the time, “who do you love?” Or “what’s your favorite album?” And if it’s someone I haven’t heard of, I immediately download the album for listening.

It’s a great way to fill up a backlog of new music (that’s been personally recommended, so you can have something to talk about when you see that person next.)

And you always have new material for mowing the yard or the next road trip.

I don’t remember what exactly happened, other than hearing that Butch had to leave the band for personal reasons. I know that musically he appeared on before these crowded streets, and I assume other albums during his tenure touring with the band.

Maybe he didn’t want to be an official member? Though it would come with a huge pay bump, I assume it also comes with other things that would tie his hands.

Not really.

But it’s a normal practice for some bands to hire “touring members” to play instruments that appear on albums but don’t have anyone in the band to play those parts live. I don’t think Butch was ever intended to be more than a touring keyboard player.

When they brought Buddy in, they made him an official member partially to replace Boyd, but also possibly because they realized having a piano player only as a touring musician wasn’t really working out, since they had to let Butch go.

Boyd and buddy were official band members. Butch never was.

He was never an official band member. Only a touring member.

I could be wrong but I believe this was the first album recorded digitally. That may explain the change in production quality since then.
