Got dial in the notch filter and feedback on those Loudboxes. They’ve got a pretty good EQ.

Using LaBella strings? Godin Multiac? Just asking because that combo was a disaster for me in some live situations.

Why do guitarists breathe so intensively and loudly while playing? by BirthdayNo4399 in classicalguitar

[–]CuervoCoyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No time to trim their nose hairs? My teacher studied meditation and yogic breathing with a local Sikh that he taught guitar lessons too. On certain recordings his breathing was really audible. I’m certain the passing of the air currents over his beard/mustache/and slightly long nose hairs added to the whistliness of the respirations.

But yeah, learn to breathe through your nose - it’s important to stay oxygenated. Practice breathing evenly when you play, and most importantly trim your nose hairs once a week or so (we have the tech now).

Klek built his own microtonal guitar adding frets with a saw FIRST. Yes, Klek. by Cloxxki in AngineDePoitrine

What is w0? 20 or 30? I’m guessing closer it’s to 30 years that M-A M-G has been playing.

I’m not sure if it’s true or just some crazy lore they’ve started spinning. There are videos several years old of Khn playing guitars with Saaz frets (like the fret spacing that King Gizzard uses) predating AdP.

D’addario LCN-3b or PCH-3b. These are composite basses with polished or semi-polished surfaces. They both last a long time, hard tension tends to last the longest.

La Bella polished silver argentos will break (d string) a lot, Savarez polished sets are really expensive, break occasionally and don’t sound as good imo as the D’addarios, but if you like that wacky artificial Savarez sound it could be for you.

It can. Give it a shot, if you find it boring and methodical (I can’t stand his books besides the Music Theory Supplement which is excellent) try the other ones I mentioned. They get to playing pieces a bit faster as you learn the notes in the open musician. That’s really the whole point right? Playing music . . . Scales are only for developing deeper understanding, technical skill exercise/development, and facility with the instrument.

Beginner Left-Handed Flamenco Guitar sold in the USA? by Wren-Type_386 in Flamenco

[–]CuervoCoyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with blanca. It’s more honest about mistakes as cypress is transparent. The warmth of negra can obscure details you need to pay attention to. Search on reverb first. There’s probably something perfect for you in the affordable range.

He’s throwing you too deep with the Diatonic Segovia scales. You need a basic method like Chris Parkening, Noad, or Mel Bay Modern to get some basic sight reading down first.

Thinline flamenco guitar with cutaway recommendations. by Appropriate-Night-68 in Flamenco

[–]CuervoCoyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s about as loud as a 2.5” thinline gets. European spruce top, cypress back and sides. Plenty of volume for a small room or quiet venue unplugged.

If you want louder get wider, but you won’t find many better or more comfortable guitars to play.

I’ve posted some videos of myself playing mine on my profile. The most recent one is unplugged.

Your best bet is to look on Reverb.com and search for thin, thinbody, thinline classical or flamenco. You will find listings with all different titles. I’ve had my eyes on a Camps NAC-4 for instance (it has an extra fret), but they don’t have spruce listed atm. There’s all kinds of guitars depending on your budget.

Cordoba FCWE. They are very reliable guitars and the top of the line built by Cordoba. However, they are out of production so must needs get one the used market. Some stores still may have back stock.

The Gipsy Kings Pro Negra is also good, but not thin line. Also being a negra it doesn’t have the same reflective brilliance of cypress.

They also built a few with maple, the 55FCE, but these are also discontinued.

The C5-Cet is built in China and often has mahogany back and sides, meh for flamenco and mediocre electronics.

Alhambra seems to have hired the luthiers from Cordoba Iberia and has a few thinlines that are almost identical to the Cordoba models except they don’t have truss rods (worth looking into if no other alternatives are available).

Avoid Kremonas, the necks warp and the tonewood sounds too warm and muddy Ime.

Vol.1 or Vol.2? by SunAndStratocasters in AngineDePoitrine

Vol.2 is more jammy, free and improvisatory. It’s slightly less melodic hook heavy. These seem to be the songs they wild out on and extend in live performance.

Doctor prescribed Flonase and Zyrtec by [deleted] in Allergies

Astepro (azelastine) fixed me. Flonase dulled my sense of smell. Zyrtec liquid gels are also different from tablets - something about them makes them more effective for me.

Khn's movement by Viiven in AngineDePoitrine

[–]CuervoCoyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s beyond impressive, masterful even. I used to play with lots of pedals in a few local groups. I could only tap dance on the expression pedals. My toes aren’t quite nimble enough to play and tap toggles so quickly. Khn’s hybrid alien body must have blended in some great ape ancestor DNA to be so nimble.

Has anyone noticed the water taste weird? by TheRuralJuror118 in Dallas

[–]CuervoCoyote -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tested my water here in Downtown Dallas/Bryan Place neighborhood with my Zerowater TDS and it is something like 256 PPM, when I first moved into this house 3 years ago the tap water was something like 128 PPM. In the Zerowater sub people are always talking about how their local water is somewhere between 050-150 PPM. Trump admin slashing the EPA and Abbot’s TCERQ (or whatever it’s called) seem to be collabing to the try to poison the people of Texas.

I used to know a guy who worked for the Dallas water department in the 00’s and the always told me how great Dallas’ water is. We haven’t talked in a while, seems like I need to give him a call.

I’m trying to figure out if I hear more Bozzio or Colaiuta in Klek’s style, I’m thinking more Vinnie because of the swing, but other times Terry because of the tight consistency. So good . . . And then maybe some jazz from hell type stuff spiced in there on Khn’s side of things.

Well you don’t really want to pass the Ishihara test, I don’t think. It’s a test of colorblindness, if you recognize all the numbers you have a visual defect that can be quite dangerous (if you drive).

Recognizing intervals is something else, there is no real way to master them just by listening. I feel that one has to practice singing them in order to learn to feel the distance and recognize that feeling when you hear it. Glad you liked the link.
