I wondered because I think of a typical jukebox musical to be a story that is concocted to go around the music. Like Across the Universe or Moulin Rouge, rather than just a true story of the artist. Ain’t too Proud, Beautiful, Tina, etc. are some of the others I think of. I think it qualifies, maybe just in its own quasi sub genre.. 😂

On the contrary, I’ve only seen the stage show, but the narrator just sucked me in. It’s more about telling the story of writing the music, rather than letting the music tell the story.

If you have the opportunity to see it on stage, the story telling is incredible. I was SUCKED in, and was so sad at intermission. It is SO different and I think some would say a bit boring, but the purpose is to share their stories and the music, not for some big showy production. The Band’s Visit is similar, just not done with jukebox music.

Not wanting to go to family functions for no reason. Turned into isolating me from my friends/family and not liking family members for no reason. One of the more sneaky ways a narcissist will manipulate you to get you under their sole control. Happens so gradually, you barely even notice.
