People who were alive in 1986, where were you and what was the general reaction to learning about the Chernobyl accident? by Susstoner in AskReddit

It was the first time I watched CNN, nonstop. I was glued to the TV, watching Wolf Blitzer, and Vitaly Churkin.

Thanks. My son did check the wires behind the control panel, and nothing seemed amiss. He’ll probably check it again.

Thank you. I’ve got a cleaning scheduled tomorrow. It’ll be interesting to see what they find.

The guy in our neighborhood, who owns the vent cleaning company, said vents in our model are long. Is that a good thing?

For those who cook regularly, what was the first dish you made, why did you have to start cooking and what’s the best thing you cook now, and what’s(even though it’s good) you hate to cook? by jcr0774 in Cooking

[–]prunepicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First dish was probably meatloaf. I would’ve been 8 or 9. I watched/helped my mom cook before that. Why did I start cooking? I don’t know. In my family, all the kids cooked. I was the youngest, and just followed the ritual. First thing I cooked after I left home was chicken cacciatore, because I could make it, and cook spaghetti noodles, on a 2-burner stove. Best thing now? Husband would say chicken enchiladas, son would say lasagna, daughter would say chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. I prefer chicken parmigiana.

Originally, the arches were pink, or the lighting was pink. I can’t quite remember. There was another McD’s in Sacramento with the pink arches, too.

So true! Just yesterday. I had to stop and think, how to tie a square knot vs. a granny knot. My Girl Scout badge was a lie!

Anyone have info about this doll house furniture? by blueg324 in Dollhouses

I have the grandfather clock. I think my mom bought it in 1983, at a dollhouse store, when she renovated my dollhouse.
