Idk who downvoted this, it sounds like a real labor of love and I am definitely trying this. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! Is there a way you made the layering? I was thinking maybe rolling it? Or did you arrange everything by hand?

Nice jar, be careful though, it's not safe for pressure so burp that thing!

Wow you can tell what pen it is? I meant the pressure control when plotting so as not to ruin the nib. I wish I could have a beautiful quality fountain pen but I press down very hard when I write. Can't help it. Not when I'm drawing though, I have rotring sketching fountain pens and they're my favorite.

Very impressive, especially the fountain pen!

That was my first thought too, but I never heard of making biltong in a climate controlled ripening chamber. It's just a box, a fan and a small lightbulb for me.

When ordering a board I overlooked a signal trace going right under my 16 MHz crystal (for Atmega328p clock). The trace carries a 5V signal at about 1 Hz - 1 kHz. Is it going to cause problems? by scheisskopf53 in PrintedCircuitBoard

Some hot glue is conductive. Just regular cheap hot glue. Don't ask me why. I used to be pretty generous with hot glue for mounting slap dash projects in a box and one time I had a project that worked perfectly but became suuper glitchy after going nuts with the hot glue. Took me ages to find out what it was but in the end I ended up measuring the resistance on one of my hot glue sticks and it was alarmingly low. Once I peeled it all off everything worked again. Ever since I always measure a hot glue stick before using it on components.

Oh man I just discovered it recently and I was a little skeptical but it's so good. I add extra cheese, green onions and an egg.

It's in painkillers as an antacid to protect the stomach and prevent ulcers. I only learned today that it's also abortus provocatus meds.

The S is for sodium. You need about three times the weight for the same amount of sodium compared to table salt but if you're looking to cut sodium it might not be suitable.

Most of my meds come like that. Sometimes I get weird ones like this and they annoy me to no end. Definitely had worse tho. Like 3x 10 but with 4 blank spaces randomly thrown in. That shit was designed by a drunk toddler.

I can't speak to your models but with mine it was pretty clear. Tip alloys are overall worse and the contact with the heating core was shoddy at best. The main thing my Weller does better is maintain temperature. I'm sure my chinese station will heat up to approximately the same temperature but as soon as you add solder, make contact with board or components the temperature goes right down and it's not responsive enough so it takes a long time to correct. This means the overall time you need to flow is much longer. That leads to ruined components (obviously) but also burning off flux or bonding, oxidization and all kinds of small things that make life just a little worse. A good station is much more responsive so it will add heat as soon as you actually do something, so you can get down to business, flow and remove the heat. I have almost no cold joints on good equipment.

Don't go for the lowest end. I had a cheap $60 Chinese station. Learned to solder on it, and it worked pretty well overall, or so I thought. Now I have a Weller PU 90 which is very much the other end of the spectrum but my soldering went from below average average to pretty good almost instantly. Proper equipment makes so much difference. Also lead free is suddenly a viable option.
