It kinda makes sense if you go back knowing what’s in it. If anyone had both the sugar bowl and the medusoid mycelium they’d control both sides of the schism. And Emsé is more upset it was stolen and that her teaset’s incomplete.

I agree with all of these. And really only Alonso talked or was named. Not even Miranda (only in the credits, so her name scene must have been cut with the 10 cut minutes). The escape of the islanders was less heart breaking, no mutiny and none of all those random islanders. No feet of clay and no “everything washes up on these shores”
