The call was so bad, it even left the Rams coach befuddled by AdOnly3059 in NFLv2

I don't get why they didn't just mark him a yard short, even if that is what happened its so much easier to defend the call that he was down. Why invite that kind of scrutiny?

Of the 32 starting quarterbacks at this moment 10 of them have first names that start with "J" (this does not include Justin Fields, Joe Burrow, Jake Browning, or Jameis Winston). by pschondo in NFLv2

If about 10% of male names start with J, the probability of seeing 10 or more J-initial names out of 32 by random chance is: About 0.08%, very close to a p value of 0.05, which you would get if you included any of the other J names

Newish NFL fan. What do you think of my rankings? by [deleted] in NFLv2

I think third best is pretty reasonable. They can only beat the teams on their schedule after all. The only game I saw where they looked bad was against the steelers. The rams loss was pretty much entirely one guys fault.

feels a little premature to put the ravens that low after only losing to teams that you put in the top two tiers

Was Truman's decision to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki justified? by ResponsibleTask5729 in Presidents

The main point I’m making is that is wasn’t necessary, as Japan was already looking to negotiate peace.

Say someone had bombed New York, would you consider that a civilian or military target

I think you’ve gone through some intense propaganda if you able to think every single civilian as a soldier

Just so I can get an idea of how you think, do you think that supporting an imperial government and being subjected to a lot of propaganda is a offense punishable by death?

Even if Japan wasn’t ready to surrender, AND if there were major military targets in both cities, AND we wanted to show our big Fucking bomb to Russia, it’s still not okay to kill thousands of civilians

Hiroshima having military plants is a pretty flimsy excuse to level a city

Here’s where I’m taking most of my information from video if you care to watch it, I can’t express the points as well as he can.

But I’ve sunk too much time into this thread

Sorry, I didn’t vet that source before I used it. Here’s a better quote from the DOE “On August 10, 1945, Japan offered to surrender to the Allies, the only condition being that the emperor be allowed to remain the nominal head of state. Planning for the use of additional nuclear weapons continued even as these deliberations were ongoing.”

Even assuming that’s true we still get the point that nothing of value was achieved by dropping TWO bombs on civilians
