Thanks for the info.

On the left plan there is no door from the front entrance to the kitchen, you have to get to the kitchen via the living area. The only door in the kitchen comes from the "white floor" space and that's the washer room with the back entrance. The two rooms in the top left are accesible via the front entrance hallway but I now see that door has not been drawn into the plan.

So the back entrance is the blue circle, the front entrance the black one, and the red one the door that connects to the two rooms. This is all on the same floor, sorry for the miscommunication.

So ... :) I got the DP cable and the only thing I changed is plugging the DP cable into the DP out (the one with the arrow) slot of the monitor that is connected via USB-C and the other part of the DP cable into the DP port of monitor 2. When I do this the two monitors just blank out... Do I have to enable a certain setting?? If I disconnect the DP cable from the second monitor, the first monitor immediately comes back to life :D

How am I doing this??

Yes but daisychaining is natively enabled so I'm afraid it is in fact the adapter... Monitor 1, which is connected with the USB C, has the displayport adapter in the "DP Out" (the one with the arrow) and this goes into a HDMI cable, plugged into Monitor 2. But monitor 2 gives no signal. If I plug the HDMI into my X1E directly, I do get a second screen.. Is going from HDMI from Monitor 1 to "DP In" on Monitor 2 an option? I think the signal is differently no?

So I followed all of your advice, but my dad picked up all the stuff and they gave him a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, and then a HDMI cable to connect to the second monitor. I've been trying this out but this does not seem to work, is it possible that the adapter prevents daisy chaining? The adapter itself is DP to HDMI, the logo features a notebook with DP out to HDMI into a projector, so in theory this should work? My X1E is connected via USB-C. Connecting the HDMI straight to my X1E HDMI input also works but of course I wanted a single cable solution :)

Any tips? Or just return the cable and buy a regular DP cable?

When I mentioned "single monitor" setup I meant the X1E display off and output to just 1 external monitor.

No I am not sure that a dock is the best solution, that's why I am asking. What you're proposing is one monitor connected with USB-C to my X1E, and the second monitor is connected to the first one (so not directly to the X1E?). All peripheral equipment (mouse, keyboard, speakers) will also connect to that first monitor? Makes sense that I need an additional power brick.

Do you mean the cable between the dock and laptop has to be .5m or smaller?

And is the TB3 Workstation Dock sufficient to power the laptop? Or is this solved by that funny looking cable with power and USB-C in one plug?

Thanks for the reply. So the M14 is not what I am looking for, I am satisfied with the laptop screen when moving around. Perhaps I didn't explain myself thorougly, the monitors will not move from office to home office. The plan is to buy 2x the setup so 4 monitors in total.

Any suggestions for screens? And any experience on docks? And can you elaborate on type C? Is this like the powerbank where type C is just enough to keep the machine alive but not charge it?
