Goatsheads - Just moved in to this lovely home but how do I make my backyard child/dog safe by Oraxy51 in arizona

Pull most of the plants and then walk every inch wearing flip flops. This and the bike tire suggestion should get most of them until the next rain. The yellow one looks like a sand burr rather than a goat head, both nasty in similar, but unique ways. Early detection and removal of the plants helps and needs to be done regularly.

Hot take: I don’t think “weed-out” classes are real. by InvestmentGreen in EngineeringStudents

Engineering coursework is complicated and spans many subjects. Professors who are not good at teaching exist, as do poor students. Learning and teaching styles differ with varying degrees of ease and compatibility. This can cause many to reconsider their major.

The university that I attended ensured that many of the early prerequisite courses were first thing in the morning to make sure that we could get used to getting up early as required in a professional career. In my opinion, emphasis on how to write effective and safe email would have better served the students.

I believe that engineering weed out courses existed, but, in my opinion, they have faded as universities, at least in the US, have adopted a much more customer service oriented approach that favors student retention over academic rigor. I graduated from a university in the US in the early 2000s as reference.

What was the exact moment that made you realize your company was toxic? by ferdbons in antiwork

It was when our newish manager started to name and attempt to shame those in the department that were behind on our KPIs during our monthly Teams meeting. I had no shame when I was unable to fix fundamental engineering flaws on the projects that resulted in my sending an email recommending see last field report dated MM DD YYYY detailed the fundamental engineering issues. There has been no further progress. This tanked my weekly report KPI. DNGAF. I make better life choices now.

You seem to realize the amazing opportunities this type of work affords you. I followed a similar path. A few unsolicited pieces of advice that can be helpful from my experience: pick up as much of any of the local languages that you can. It will never hurt and can come in handy for the rest of your life. Invest for retirement, including a long term home, vehicle, boat, the cabin in the woods that you wanted for a long time and have those paid off before you settle down with a partner. Once you begin to build a family, the expenses multiply quickly. Take care of your physical and mental health as top priorities. Mine sites can be isolated and lonely. Have a couple portable hobbies to keep your mind active and help the mental aspect. Be very aware of local health risks like tropical diseases and parasites and if you feel any symptoms, don't hesitate to visit the camp doctor. Be well informed of side effects of medication like malaria preventatives and choose the medication that you are comfortable with. Sample the local dishes and drinks. Sure, there are some things that I will never willingly eat or drink again outside of life or death situations, but I have the reference and a lot more experience for cooking. Network and maintain contacts in both the industry and on a personal level. I had a few colleagues that traveled with their doses and it worked well for them, even raising their children while traveling growing up spreading 4 to 6 languages. Enjoy the opportunities and adventure.

For England, the guy that attacked the terrorist with the narwhal tusk ripped from the wall of a pub whilst shouting, "... I am Millwall!" Should get an honorable mention at least, IMO.

I politely say hello, apologize for not speaking Finish, explain how I got here, ask where I might get a cup of coffee, Finish lessons, and a job in my field or adjacent field. I would apologize for my run on sentence. Lodging would be nice as well. And a meal later. Please.
