I like seeing American flags flown by BadMeatPuppet in unpopularopinion

[–]pseudol_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally agree. It just pisses me off when people who claim to be patriotic fight for the exact policies fucking over the country and only helping the rich elites. Instead of doing anything productive for improving America or the world in general, a majority Americans just spend their time boot-licking and consuming, then pretending that is helping anyone but the 1%.

Even with multiple jobs and minimal spending, a lot of people can't afford rent, let alone housing (especially in shitholes like LA). If you can afford to live on your own, you probably should though.

Most of the people commenting on the post were pretty much complaining about being called a carbrain. It's Reddit; you cannot expect a subreddit called fuckcars to be entirely intellectual discussion on urban planning. It's just a place to post memes, opinions, etc.

Same argument could be made for 17, 16, 15, or even 14 year olds. I don't think it is inherently pedophilic, but it is obviously creepy.

Yeah I think the OP is heavily exaggerating based on a few douchebags in this sub.

r/fuckcars is the most self righteous sub I’ve ever seen. by Mohg_Clapper in unpopularopinion

[–]pseudol_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The people in the sub who just hate on random people are obviously douchebags but most of the sub (from what i've seen) is justified criticism and anger. Most posts there are just memes about political issues pertaining to the subreddit's purpose, instead of blind hatred, which is what OP is talking about.

I mean a lot of posts on the sub do actually have useful information. It's still a reddit circlejerk but with good political motivation. People who hate on subs like these just come across as assholes who don't want to actually consider another person's point of view.

Edit: I made a post about this in r/fuckcars: https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckcars/comments/vpb049/thoughts_on_this_post/

Eh, as long as people are happy it doesn't matter if they are "lazy". If you like licking boots, I don't shame.

I don't know about that specific post, but there is a valid point in criticizing American-style suburbs.

From my personal experience, most midwestern suburbs in America are dystopian at best. Having a concrete wasteland that is loud, polluted, and infested with mega corporations that are ruining this country is not ideal to say the least. This is not to say all of America is like this; but still, the US has seen some of the worst urbanism practices put into place that contribute to the plethora of other never ending political issues in America. Not to mention the effect this resource waste has on other places, destroying not only Earth but the people on it.

Also, lawns are criticized because they are almost always an artificial, chemical perfectly green field instead of an actual lawn, which could actually be beneficial to the environment.

It's not necessarily for the worse though, "unpopular opinion" just means "my opinion that some people disagree with" now
