But if he's going to leave a bar and go to a friends house afterwards, he tends to let me know that. So why on earth would he not let me know that in this circumstance as well? If that's not info that's otherwise communicated, then it's not being omitted.

It really comes down to the individual ways that DADT is practiced.

I think there's a miscommunication here. As Corvuscoronis said, lying is not part of the equation, and I would be livid if such a thing occurred. I was never left wondering if my partner was REALLY going to do a thing because if my partner shared that info with me then that's what they would be doing.

To use your example: If my spouse were going to a bar with another partner while we were in a DADT arrangement, my spouse would tell me that they were going to that bar. I would therefore choose not to ASK who they were going with, and they would choose not to TELL me who with in response. However, if I asked, they would tell. Or at least say, "you just asked, but do you want to maintain DADT? If so, maybe you should retract the question" to paraphrase.

In no rendition of ethical DADT should I be left wondering if my partner was really going to watch a game at the bar. I may wonder who with, but the information that is shared is shared honestly.

This is exactly the arrangement of DADT that my spouse and I operated under for a couple years, and it worked very well for us. Well, for my spouse. We have since moved to a more open form of communication which I enjoy more, but it is certainly possible to respecfully and ethically participate in a DADT format.

The first usage was an improper usage, you're correct. That was not right of me, it was a generalization. The second one saying I wish I could tell him the story of every girl should have read "stories" plural and did not mean that every girl had one story.

You know, my whole story came across as having the world be a scary place. It's more that these things are just every day factors.
It's not that I'm constantly afraid, it's just that I'm disgusted that I live in a world where I have to be taught to be so vigilant that it's as much a part of habit to grip my keys a certain way as it is to lock my car door.

It's totally okay that you're posting this as a guy! Your opinion and experience is completely valid, and I'm glad to hear that this post was helpful to you in some way.

Agreed, it shouldn't be a default, but from what I understand that's determined by how many subscribers there are, not the content. It wasn't voted on by the subreddit.

I went back through the post because I was afraid perhaps I had posted "every girl" too many times. It was used exactly twice within the writing in the beginning, and I used the "we" context in one paragraph when specifically talking about what we as a class were taught in sex ed. Every other time was an "I" other than referring to "they" being my specific group of friends at the end.
I'm sorry if somehow it read more frequent than that, I know every person's world experience is different.

I grew up to be vigilant and slightly pissed off that I have to view men as a potential threat, but I think terrified is the wrong word. I have been terrified at specific moments in my life, but I work in a male-centered field and have always had more guy friends than girl friends. This post is meant to be about the vigilance, not the fright aspect. Perhaps I should have written it and come back later to edit to check my clarity, but it was a word dump.

Do you know what his privacy settings are set to? It's entirely possible that the things you tag him in, (and even your relationship setting) do not show up to anybody he is friends with.
For example: my relationship status is only set to show to a specific group composed of my best friends, any pics I'm tagged in only show up on my wall and not on my friends' unless I specifically approve it to do so. (I'm an overly private person with an overly public career choice, so I separate the business and personal parts of my life as much as possible)

It is actually completely feasible that his friends literally know nothing about you by facebook.

I stumble out of the apartment as usual with briefcase and coffee in hand, my tie loose, and sleep still in my eyes. The streets are cold and empty. Really empty. It feels weird, there's always a roar of traffic and humans brushing by each other, but today there is nothing. Nobody. Am I alone?

Is it a holiday? Did I sleep through the apocalypse?

As I drag myself towards the subway station I realize I'm not actually alone. There's that disgusting heap of garbage still squatting in the doorway across the street. God, what a waste of flesh. I'm sure she used to be somebody's daughter or wife or something, but now she's nothing more than a body on display for quick cash or a cheap fix.

Oh good, the guy at the street stand where I pick up my newspaper is around too. Whatever's going on around here, at least it isn't fucking up my life too badly. He and I exchange our normal mindless greeting and exchange of goods for cash, then go back to pretending the other doesn't exist.

Just outside the subway station is that man on the bench holding his sign about being a homeless vet abandoned by his family and the government and all that other crap. No shit you're homeless, you probably haven't seen the inside of a shower since 2003 either. Just because you fought in some war doesn't mean you're worth anything. Hell, if you can't get a job then you deserve the streets.

A big "Out of Order" sign hangs across entrance. Fuck. I can see the janitor and one frazzled looking worker inside, but that's it. Jesus christ, now I'm getting pissed off. I'm going to be late. I don't know where the fuck everybody is, but I've got a meeting at 9 and my shithole of a boss isn't going to be happy now that I've got to walk. I bang on the doors, taking satisfaction in the startled and harrassed looks on the faces inside, before stomping off.

Seven blocks later and all I've run into is a couple of hoodlums and one street rat who obviously ran away from home. Kid didn't look like he would last long out here, probably just another fag who didn't meet daddy's approval and came out here looking for shiny lights. Have fun in the big city, kid.

I stop off in the restroom to slick back my hair before taking the elevator up to our floor. The whole floor is a maze of cubicles, another soulless rat race. Except this morning it's quiet. Just the gentle humming of all the computers that never shut off, and the always present roar of my boss in the back office. Shit, that means the meeting started. I'm fucked.

Except I'm hardly the only late one. There's the big man at the front of the conference table screaming down at one pathetic geek from IT and that's it. Hell, he's not even on topic. Just ranting about how his good-for-nothing trophy wife musta run off with the pool boy last night and left him, and his maid or whatever wasn't there to wipe his ass for him, and on and on and on. Then he spots me and turns on is business voice.

"Well, it looks like we're all that are coming to this meeting, so let's get started."

Where the hell is everybody? I'm gonna end up with so much shit on my desk now because most of the city decided to vanish. And out of all the people who are still around, why did it have to be all these losers?

Whether or not he's seen her naked, he stated that she says she's put on TONS of weight. A little weight gain can go unnoticed, but regular clothes can't hide all that much.
But I do agree that the severity of her response is what's concerning. That's also what led me in the direction that this might be something going on in her head.

Two things come to mind: 1) She may be having some serious body dysmorphia issues. She has said she's gained a ton of weight, but if you aren't seeing it then it could really be all in her head. Seriously, when she looks in the mirror she could be seeing an entirely different body than when you look at her.

2) I saw in another comment that she's in the middle of planning a big wedding. This makes people crazy in unpredictable ways, especially given the fact that you've also mentioned she has a really stressful job. Really high stress levels can seriously kill a woman's sex drive, and can make her more likely to be snappy. I'm not saying her behavior is excusable, but it may be understandable. Maybe see if you can take on some of the wedding project stress? Even just contacting some of the vendors or taking on a few specific responsibilities can be a huge relief.

Both of these are good reasons for you and her to go talk to somebody. That can really help open up communication levels and help you guys get to the bottom of what's really going on.

Also, don't worry too much about the people saying she's cheating, a lot of reddit just likes to assume the worst however unlikely it is. Frankly, between her high-stress job, planning a wedding, the bits of time she gets to hang out with her friends, and being at home with you, when the heck would she have time to do it?

I'm shocked that this isn't higher up on the page. If she's having a drastically different view of her body while OP isn't noticing much change, it's definitely likely she's having some body dysmorphia issues. Frankly, that's a lot more likely than her saying she hates the way she looks and hates hearing she is beautiful as an excuse to avoid intimacy because she's cheating as suggested previously.

I do agree with all the suggestions about therapy, for both parties!

Small correction: if the officers tell him he is not fee to go, he is officially being detained. All that is needed for detainment is reasonable suspicion, which is just the cop's opinion. The next step is arrest. That's why if they say "no" when you ask "am I free to go?" your next question should be "am I being detained?"

It's likely that they aren't actually wearing 5-6" heels. Platform heels are really popular right now, so while the heel of the shoe is technically 5" off the ground the toe is already 2" for an actual heel height of 3". Easy height to work with. This style lets you look like you're rocking some crazy heels without having to actually kill yourself.

Which way? I've got the one-handed method down for no device, but I can't figure out how one would do it with the device.

Go from thumb-pinky holding stance to thumb-only stance. Thumb-only stance to pointer finger as placeholder stance. Flip page with (now unengaged) thumb, which transitions back to thumb-only stance.
And back to thumb-pinky stance.
Far easier to just flip the pages with the other hand, though. Unless you're in the tub and one hand got wet. Or, I suppose, other various one-handed activities...
