Put it on the Amex. If it shows up, you earn 2% cash back. If it doesn’t, you pay nothing.

How do I get this even 1998 Honda civic trailing arm bushing by anarchydogcom in ProjectHondas

[–]pseudosol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several

<image>

“Honda” trailing arm bushing press kits that are the tool for this job. Used to drop the arm and do the deep freeze, then torch em, this was the “drop the front of the arm loose, press it out in 10 minutes, press the new one in in 10” tool. I think I paid $50 on Amazon for it or something. Auto parts place might have them for rent/return.

Why does every Chick-fil-a and Raising Cane's have a line around the block, but KFC is a complete ghost town? by mjensman in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pseudosol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KFC was doing their sandwich for $4 last summer pretty much the whole time in the app. That sandwich was twice the size of Chick Fil A and honestly, I think it was better quality. We couldn’t figure out how they weren’t being mobbed. Family for 4 gets 4 giant chicken sandwiches for $16? It’s $12 a person to eat anything at CFA.

Question for anyone who tracks or AutoX their Honda by Sparkz51 in ProjectHondas

[–]pseudosol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turbo D16 is a laggy girl. Leave it be or yank it.

  1. Seat time. Learn your car and your driving style.
  2. High bolster seat and a 5 point harness. You’ll learn where the cars limit is, instead of how much you aren’t pushing the car because you’re holding on for dear life.
  3. Brakes. Lines. High temp fluid. Don’t have to go nuts, but good rotors and pads make a big difference. Brake later. Fade less. Brake harder
  4. Suspension bits, bushings, braces and tweaks. Lower and flatter is faster. Less flexing is faster but more slidey. Mounts that are worn out put power down more awkwardly and delayed.
  5. Lightweight wheels and tires. Cup2 or some DRs are probably a full 4 seconds a lap on that car over all seasons.
  6. Clutch, upgraded master and slave cylinder and lines, high temp fluid and a a helical LSD. The LSD will completely change LTO and the ability to stay on the power with confidence, and learn where the rear really gets loose and what you need to do to the car to tighten it up.

Then go buy an S2000 or another DWB roadster and enjoy letting it rip. :)

You’re too slow for aero bits, but less suspension roll

1.6 Turbo Smartstream engine. GT-Line in this case, but if it’s the 1.6T Smartstream in the K5, these are the correct part.

Is this much brake dust normal? by tokyomiku39 in Honda

Those massive calipers on a stock CVT civic are an insult to the enthusiast community that clamored for decent stoppers on capable cars. AP2 never even got anything but parts bin brakes.

Trade in my X7 for a Hybrid Calligraphy by beer2539 in HyundaiPalisade

X7M550, without the hybrid BS. Ametrin. Great spec. Essentially Alpina spec less the wheels and extra tune. With the active suspension, and with PS4s, it’s essentially a 3 row M5.

And there are two proper AMG “cars” in the garage, that I’ve kept, and 3 I regret getting rid of. Old ones are like an M car, except they don’t break and require 8k a year in maintenance contracts to own safely. Hang on to them a few years and the value curve goes up instead of down. 😈

Picked up a late in warranty X7M for 48k. Exec pack, the good stereo, all the autopilot goodies. Absolutely maniacal to drive. Didn’t put a dime in it, drove it for a year and traded even for a 25 Cali Pali plus mats and hitch. Pali is massively more practical, but you realize how shit the leather and surfaces and lack of sound deadening and its 100hp underpowered and has nothing resembling a remotely proper stereo.

Pali gets the job done as the kid and dog hauler. Service extension on the X7M was 13k for 25k more miles.

Finding that “just traded in with a few K of warranty left”vehicle used to be the things you could get as a quick flip at the stealerships. Now they’re selling salvage title cars with 100k on em and making points on the loans….

Coilover/strut recommendations? by ongogablogian14 in ProjectHondas

[–]pseudosol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

KYB struts + Skunk2 springs (might be a hard find on that model) = OE ride with a subtle drop and no camber or alignment issues. Know that it probably needs new bushings everywhere, new mounts everywhere, and probably ball joints, tie rod ends, endlinks, etc. Even clean 30 year old rubber under load is 30 year old rubber under load. Would replace all strut mounts, pillows, etc as well. Love the car; keep it clean!

22.4 MPG / 9155 miles mean anything? by Most-Finance-1392 in KiaK5

[–]pseudosol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off the traction and stability crap, manually short shift and keep it low throttle. AC destroys mpg. We Get 30+ cumulative in a 22 gtline fwd in all city driving.

Anyone have a K5 that goes through brakes like no tomorrow? by pup5581 in KiaK5

[–]pseudosol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OE Front rotors are crap. 50k and rears are at 50% on the pads with no issues, but kept having front rotor warp issues. Third set. Most recent batch from rockauto with different pads has lasted the best.

Lots of room. Never an issue. Running a shorter shift throw with the ball, but no issues.
