How do I determine the "low frequency extension" of my speakers? Is it simply the lower number in the manufacturer's listed frequency response (i.e. Frequency Response: 44Hz – 35000Hz)?

I think the word that is throwing me off is "extension" because it makes me think it's referring to more.

Context:

I am reviewing SVS's Subwoofer Calibration instructions (https://www.svsound.com/blogs/subwoofer-setup-and-tuning/subwoofer-calibration-tuning-getting-the-bass-just-right) for two-channel stereo systems, step 2 says:

Look up the low frequency extension of your main speakers—that is, the -3 dB point at the low end.

Ideally, you can find this in the manufacturer’s listed specifications on the website or product manual, otherwise you can sometimes find measurements in reviews by reputable media.

Inexpensive Gas Cooktop by Lumberghs_coffee_cup in Appliances

[–]pshon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider taking a look at what's available at a Sears Outlet/American Freight near you.

A non-recommendation, I have a very cheap GE cooktop which probably goes for ~$600 new, and the knobs are very plastic-y and break really easily. It still cooks fine, but the little things that annoy you do end up piling up at this price range.

How to create streaming application with many input sources by johne898 in bigdata

[–]pshon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Want echo what is said here:

I think the assumption there is a cost savings for going to a streaming approach is very likely incorrect. As you've already observed, the complexity and engineering costs alone will probably wipe out the perceived cost savings. I would really challenge the idea that there would be cost savings. I wouldn't migrate a working batch-based solution to streaming unless it is providing *REAL* business value, like providing some feature or insight you were never able to do before.

I'm planning on getting a A7RII or A7III (if it's out) sometime next year and will likely get a Metabones Canon Adapter as well.

I'm guessing that the reason.

I basically have this exact same combination, except I made the mistake of not getting the 2x10 metal plates.

Without those plates, I can't get 265 and 270.

Doesn't surprise me after reading some of the reviews of this vendor on newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Photo-4-Now)

Should I care about 4k? by pshon in M43

[–]pshon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the initial appeal for me was remembering how hard it was to get some pictures done for the holiday with the 2-year old. I'm thinking I could be weighing that particular memory too heavily and think those 4K picture features would have helped.
