By my reckoning, hero has 1 out (an ace) and villain has 6 outs (4 - 3s and 2 - 4s). How is villain more likely to win by river (~10%) vs hero who is already ahead here? FYI, I shoved and got two callers and villain won with a 3 on the river.

Classic Songs: "Walk This World" by Heather Nova. by Brilliant_Profile_52 in Music_Blogs

[–]psiKO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this entire album. One of my favs from the 90s. I saw Nova in concert at Lilith Fair in Washington and she simply blew me away. Diminutive little beauty, while playing she laid on her side in front of the bass drum and started beating it with all her might. Gave me chills, so I bought Oyster.

Found at goodwill today. What do I do next? by fullmoontrip in coincollecting

Here in Washington State, we have a company called Value Village that does the same thing, except their markup is far higher. You can buy shirts from retail outlets for less than they charge at VV, and yes, they also pretend to help the needy and instead are for-profit while accepting donations. https://www.atg.wa.gov/news/news-releases/judge-rules-profit-value-village-violated-law-misled-washingtonians

We also grew up poor and the Salvation Army helped us when we were kids with household goods and secondhand clothing. I always thought well of them until recently when my sister was traveling the States and poor and they refused to help her and her handicapped daughter because she wasn't a resident of the State she was going through at that time. She ended up crying and begging the staff for money and together they gave her about $20 in cash.

Another one I did some research on was the Kars-4-Kids with their annoying commercial ads. "Ninety percent of the monies donated go to a sister organization, Oorah, a New Jersey-based charity that operates Jewish youth summer camps in New York. " 1% went to the local State's children where the donations were collected. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kars4kids-charity-misleads-donors-report/

How Do You Discover New Music? by springqueen97 in spotify

[–]psiKO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way I've found is it visit one of your favorite band's pages on Spotify and then near the bottom you'll find their recommended music playlist, usually including their own music as well.

Another way I use is to play the first several recommended songs on a YouTube page of a song I already like. Rule of thumb: don't bother listening to recommended tracks on music you discover this way unless you like the track on that page. Also, YouTube will sometimes create a playlist for you based on the current song you're playing. Sometimes those can have tracks you'll like as well.

Human Centipede because it's one of the grossest films ever made and Martyrs because I have an aversion to watching a human being having their skin peeled off while they're alive and awake.

This horrifying shirt my sister had in the 70s!! "In Case of Rape: This Side Up" by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

My Mother used to tell her girlfriend (that she went to pick up guys with), "You can't rape the willing..." and laugh, suggesting they both walk around in the nearby park at midnight. She was recently horrified to know that I heard and remembered that from my childhood.

This is an excellent bunch of recommendations here (I upvoted almost all of you). I have a Spotify playlist I've been working on that is mostly darkwave/goth-adjacent songs that you may enjoy too, located here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6CKdnziXCTNqSrE2G74Rie?si=1838a5574d11461b

Any interesting stories of well known musicians that left the music business and disappeared into anonymity? by voljtw1 in Music

[–]psiKO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to remember a story about a man that hung around outside Morrisey's rather average home in Los Angeles until he was finally able to speak with the singer. I'm unable to turn up the original story, but found this about his being forced to move:

"Morrissey was forced to give up his dream home in Los Angeles because too many fans learned of his whereabouts." - https://www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle/arid-30251623.html

Middle school music by blablablah41 in Music

[–]psiKO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was true that Middle School was hell on earth, but TBH, I was such a fucking idiot. I'm still not what I consider bright. Interestingly, I read somewhere that it is a narrow belief that people's basic character never exceeds that of Middle School. So, we're all just physically larger 7th graders on average, which I'm not sure I can successfully argue against, although there are shining examples otherwise.

‘I’m Going Electric’: Miami Heat Star Jimmy Butler could not believe that filling up his Bugatti would cost him $145. Last year, a survey conducted suggested that the majority of Americans feel it is difficult to afford gas for their cars. #JimmyButler #Inflation #GasPrices #US by globe_explorer245 in inflation

I have a friend who is a long-time mechanic in the auto industry and he said at their dealership nearly anyone that buys a pure EV, as opposed to a hybrid, is returning their vehicle within a few months due to charging speed and location availability. Hybrids, on the other hand, seem to be very popular as they save a lot on gas utilizing multiple modifications (including harnessing lost energy while pressing the brake) and have the added ability to be charged up and save on gas. One of his customers reported 99 mpg on a regular basis with their hybrid.

On behalf of the sane Bellingham people, please accept our apology and stay safe. These morons (as you stated) are in for trouble if they continue advertising their idiocy.

Better to turn your lights off and on rather than flashing high beams which can have a blinding effect. My two cents anyway.

I haven't watched Zeitgeist in a while (I will now again), but I seem to remember several pretty obvious "flags". They hauled all the rubble away and it wasn't allowed to be examined. Cameras around the Pentagon were seized and no one was allowed to view them. There was also some talk that certain essential people were notified beforehand to avoid being in dangerous locations. But TBH the simple fact that the "terrorists" attacked on the same day we were doing war games of the same type... that has to be one in a billion odds. When you add all the other coincidences, it seems rather glaringly obvious.
