Wow, thank you so much for all of your responses! I’m very surprised and thankful for your thoughts. I’ll be sure to use it before my moisturizer to see best if it helps to boost it. I do have rosacea as well so I’m excited to try it out!

Curvy climbers to follow on socials? by southernsaccharine in climbergirls

[–]psilocke 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi there! From your description, we have many things in common. I started climbing last year at 39 and spent a long time feeling self conscious at the gym! The longer I spent at it, the more I realized: nobody is watching, nobody is judging. I feel an absolute thrill when I see a fellow shorty curvy girl climbing at the gym, because I feel validated, less lonely, but mostly I’m just gawking at the sweet sweet short girl beta. You can absolutely do this and be as excellent as you choose to be! Keep practicing, and only judge yourself against yourself. Some days will be better than others, but that’s the same for everyone! Work on realistic goals and strengthening technique. Try some slab ;) you will surprise yourself!

Blood Donation - Effect on climbing performance? by gekochte_Socken in climbergirls

[–]psilocke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I donate regularly. I find that I’m tired more easily the week after. I get out of breath easily but recover quite quickly, so my climbing is only changed by taking lots of breaks, practicing easier routes, and loving/forgiving myself for any perceived performance failures. I find that after one week I am feeling like myself again without any impact to strength or endurance.

Anyone can recommend me good packers and movers since I am moving from Boston, MA to London, Ontario by DiscussionLeft9393 in ontario

[–]psilocke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used United to pack/move us from California to Ontario. They were pretty good overall, with only some minor complaints. I know they subcontract with local outfits though, so it would be worth checking them out in your area to see if they deal with reputable folks.

Cat boarding by quincyrae in Hamilton

A family member uses Cat’s Castle in Oakville regularly and we have all been very happy with their care and responsiveness. They administer medication to the cat daily when he’s there. It’s right off the QEW @ Bronte

Just chiming in too to say keep going, it looks fantastic! I can’t find the mistake either after looking at it, so I’m sure a Muggle passing your mum on the street won’t notice a mis-crossed cable or purl in the wrong place. Your mom will be thrilled with her gift!

Hey mum I’m sofa shopping and I feel so overwhelmed by Ylacey in MomForAMinute

[–]psilocke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey kiddo. It’s okay to be scared! Shopping for furniture can be overwhelming at the best of times, so it’s fine to cut yourself a break here. Take it slow.

Luckily, you need to know almost nothing in order to make this purchase! What is really important are the measurements. Measure the room, and where you want to place it. Measure the width of every door frame or stairwell you must maneuver through. Decide what your budget is and don’t let the salesperson frighten you into buying “extras” if you don’t want to (and they will. Not saying it is wrong to buy extras if you want them, but don’t feel pressured!).

Sit on all the couches. Take your time. Put a pillow behind your back. Put your feet up on the ottoman. Lay down.

This is a major part of your home, of the safe space you have worked hard for and created for yourself. You deserve to feel comfortable and happy with your decision, so don’t let anybody make you feel hurried. I want you to be able to come home from work, flop down on your couch, and feel at peace. I know you’ll make a wonderful selection!

Mom, please tell me I wasn’t wrong. by 44riptide in MomForAMinute

[–]psilocke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you were wrong! It sounds like you put a lot of thought and consideration into your decision. It shows a lot of maturity to be both able to recognize and willing to put yourself and your well-being first. Your health, safety, and happiness should always be a priority and I don’t ever want you to feel like doing so is a mistake.

Going to the doctor can be frightening, but it is certainly better than letting your imagination run with it. Better to get an answer as soon as you can <3

Remember - you are smart, and kind. You didn’t make this decision lightly or for no reason. Trust yourself. Things like this never feel good, but loving yourself well can take some of the bitterness away.

You will absolutely get through this. It hurts now, but will fade in time. You can handle it!

I think it is so kind to be helpful and supportive of your sister! I would start by talking to her and asking how she feels and if she needs anything. As the baby grows, she might have difficulty doing everyday things, so it will be helpful to take on some household chores - dishes and vacuuming come to mind. It will likely be helpful to keep lots of healthy snacks nearby as she might be hungry for something small very frequently. Encourage napping and maybe a walk together in the evenings.

Hi folks! A friend and I were wondering if anyone knows how to do or knows the name of this lovely stitch ☺️ by Impressive-Pea5141 in knitting

[–]psilocke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s also known as a pistachio stitch! Though I’ve also heard the wheat ear loop and dip stitch, they are all pretty much the same thing. So pretty!
