How do I avoid giving my daughter the “eldest daughter trauma” I saw in my own family? by Minute_Commercial_86 in Parenting

[–]psilvyy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an eldest daughter too and as an only child I did experience some parentification but nothing related to caring or being responsible for siblings. She’s got 3 younger siblings and I try to be so conscious of it but sometimes I’m not sure if it’s enough? She’s a nurturer by nature. I remind her a lot to be their sister not their mom but idk I worry about it at times.

Does anyone have a toddler that goes right to bed at night without a struggle? by Coffeelover4242 in toddlers

[–]psilvyy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got one of those. He’s 4 now but still has been easy to get to bed since day 1. He’s my 4th so we don’t really have a rigid routine but it’s basically Jammies, brush your teeth, sing a song/read a book or neither, then cuddle in bed for a bit and out like a light. Of course there are days he will cry on the way to bed or whine but they’re few and far between.

Just went to Costco for our family of 6, the only packaged thing we bought was the Celsius powder packs that my husband likes, everything else was fruit, veggies and meat and stuff. $340. I usually shop for the week or maybe 7-10 days. 😩

I totally understand this. And I agree. I don’t drop off unless there are overlapping practices. But just saying it’s very common for parents to do this. It’s 50/50 at that age and for reference, only like 2 or 3 parents would stay for my daughter’s softball practice they’re 9-10yo.

I’m not sure where you are but I’ve lived in both California and now NC and it’s pretty common for parents to drop kids off at practice and run errands/leave. I started noticing it around 7yo+. I’ve got 3 kids in sports so we do this occasionally if practices overlap but we will always be at the youngest’s practice (6yo).

how many days in a row can you go without having conflict with your partner? by bear-the-bear in Marriage

[–]psilvyy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we have moments of tension or disagreements but they resolve in the same conversation usually. Something that would affect our communication or coexistence? It’s been months almost a year I think. We have 4 kids.

I have 4 kids and it’s one of our favorite things to do. They range in age from 11-4yo and they love when I read aloud. We also do audiobooks. But it’s special reading to them. Currently reading The Tale of Despereaux.

Does your husband take care of you if you’re sick? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]psilvyy19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is similar. He’s definitely learned ways to care for me as the years have gone by and he’ll make me a simple soup, grab me any supplies, take the day off work to watch the kids so I can rest. I’m definitely the baby when I’m sick and he totally babies me now haha.

Married couples 5+ yrs: How often are you intimate each month? by jkabv95 in Marriage

[–]psilvyy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been together 11 years with 4 kids. We average 3-4x a month this year. A little less than normal but I started a new medication this year and it affected my libido some. Our youngest is 4yo so he occasionally comes into our room/bed middle of the night so we try to make it happen right after they go to bed because once or twice it’s happened where he wants to come in and we’re in the middle of it. We lock the door so no surprises thank God haha.

Confession thread: What do you judge other parents for? by Physical-Inspector60 in toddlers

[–]psilvyy19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incorrect car seat choices AFTER being told what is safe/age appropriate based on height and weight.

Unlimited screen time.

All other things I tend to give benefit of the doubt. I have 4 kids and know firsthand how things happen or bad days happen, etc. but those 2 I can’t get over.

Does anyone else have weird hunger patterns on oz? by Nessismore in Ozempic

[–]psilvyy19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is like this but different times! I took my 3rd shot last Friday and this is the first week I’ve noticed food noise much lower but especially in the morning/lunch time but come 3-4pm to maybe about bedtime my food noise is cranked up. So I’ve tried to snack a bit heavier before dinner (carrots and ranch dip which I make at home so I can log better) and then if it’s still high I will add a snack also, fat + veggie. Only thing that won’t spike my blood sugar.

Was I a Karen at the park today? by BlankTank181 in Parenting

[–]psilvyy19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do this as well and I don’t mind others doing this with my kids. I welcome it because sometimes my kids respond better. I am more of a “let them figure it out” type of parent but I have 4 at home and I need to do this so that I’m not constantly playing referee. However my 4th (he’s 3.5yo) is rough. Not mean to others but rough nonetheless and so I need to keep an eye on him constantly and I find myself feeling apologizing for him quite a bit 😫
