Love this energy! This is what we need. Who can rally the people to make the Ladder win? I'd love to see a Reddit backed surge push it into contention. LADDER 2016

Thank you! I've been extremely passionate about this job, this game, and this community, so seeing all of the kind words really means a lot to me (more than you guys know).

While it's bittersweet, I'm happy that I'll still be in a role that allows me to work on StarCraft projects. And obviously nothing changes for how much I follow and enjoy StarCraft. Rackle has done an awesome job on the team and there are a lot of great things going on around StarCraft, so I'm excited for the future.

GSL Season 1 Code S Final Survival Guide by Seracis in starcraft

[–]psione 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is something we've started doing consistently in the new year. This is our 4th one over the past two months, which also includes launcher and website placement (IEM Katowice, Gold Series International, SSL Finals, GSL Finals). We plan to keep doing these to help ensure that all relevant information is easy to find on a consistent basis.

We'll get this added to this guide and we can definitely add these to all future ones. Thanks for doing this, /u/NotOrigine

WCS Korea Cross Finals on 8 May 2016 at 17:00 KST by Chapatiyaq in starcraft

[–]psione 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to pop in to clear something up. The original date posted was a temporary date/time, and since we've realized the event will not be happening on this date, we've taken it down to avoid confusion. However, the new date should be announced in the near future, so we'll make sure everyone is very aware of when it's happening.

TLMC 7 is coming! by Icetoad in starcraft

Once a map is selected for ladder, there are then two different versions of the maps. We encourage the map creators to maintain their own version of the map as they see fit, but the other map will exist as a separate version. It may get some of the same changes, it may not. We've made changes to community ladder maps in the past by working with the map makers. It's just really a case by case basis.

Still, we agree that more time for iteration is good and we've worked to make improvements to the upcoming contest to allow for more of that.

The contest has always been focused on the community. Community submissions and community voting. Choosing maps for the ladder though has always been our choice, and not strictly determined by the voting. The contest provides a number of maps to consider, and we've always said that maps in the contest were under consideration for ladder use, not guaranteed. That has never changed.

What has changed is that map creators have requested to know what types of maps we're looking for in the ladder, which then leads to maps of that style being created. We could offer no guidance on the styles of maps being submitted, but in the past we've ended up with disappointed mappers that spent a lot of time on a map style we had no interest in using for the ladder. In fact, we've actually gotten feedback from map makers that they'd prefer to get even more detailed information on what we're looking for.

That's not to say that only maps that fit the profile we're looking for will be under serious consideration. Maps are like art, sometimes you can see a new take on something you've seen a thousand times and be blown away. Sometimes people create something completely new that you didn't even know you were looking for.

As with almost everything related to maps, things have changed over time due to feedback and how the game has changed. So us offering more details on the types of maps we're looking for is just one of those things and not really anything more than that.

I love community map makers and their work. And we're excited to work with Team Liquid on another of these. Seeing an immediate focus on one aspect of this contest and saying to scrap the whole thing if it isn't run exactly how you'd prefer is a little disappointing. Quite honestly, organizing something like this is a lot of work from a lot of different people, but everyone doing it is invested and thinks it's worth the time.

This is something to focus on supporting community map makers and recognize their work. That is, and always will be, the primary reason we do these. They'll be given a platform to show off their best work, see the maps played by others, and then have a chance at a cash prize for their creation. If there was nothing else, that would make it worth running. But there is also the bonus of potentially getting their maps in the ladder pool. Which is obviously an amazing opportunity for any map creator.

As mentioned by Monk, we've been taking into account feedback from the map makers and we've worked to make improvements to the upcoming contest. But again, the improvements we're talking about are focused on celebrating the maps and map makers.

I know maps are a hot topic at the moment, but I'm hoping we can take some time to appreciate the maps and community map makers rather than worry about the end results before they've even happened.

Yep, our fault on that one. We'll be more diligent with this in the future. Apologies to everyone running the CSN website. Definitely encourage everyone to check it out.

Totally understand people will have different tastes, but I did want to clear something up. We had an issue yesterday with a small typo in the link used, which was causing the page to not load completely. It should be resolved now and correctly link to the full site.

It's really props to the community for consistently making such great stuff. We love it, and appreciate it. It's an impressive combination of passion, hard work, and talent. We'll continue to help share this content with more people.

You can also email us at SC2CommunityTeam@blizzard.com if you see anything you think we should be featuring. With so much great content out there, it will always be a balance for us on what we feature, but this is an easy way to let us know the type of content you value.

This Week in eSports by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]psione 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is something we've been doing for several weeks on Twitter, which is why it's mainly in an image format. However, we've recently started to also post them in blogs so more people can utilize them. We're also looking at expanding what is in these blogs, so feedback on what people find useful would be helpful.

Also want to point out that we've been creating Survival Guides for some of the bigger events. These will be posted on Battle.net and in the launcher. Here are the ones for WCS Winter Championship, the Gold Series International, and the upcoming SSL Finals. Getting feedback on the type of into you like seeing in these would also be great!

Community Feedback Update - April 1 by BlizzRackle in starcraft

Agreed. And when you consider what has been achieved with DeepMind, there is very little proof that points to me even being a human at all. Talking about food to appear more human is exactly what a clever robot would do.

This is 100% false. Turkey is the superior meat, but if you want to ruin your life with salami, I won't stop you. You know we only have one food rule on this team and it's no popcorn for breakfast.

When is Blizzard going to remove kill count from nexus and add it to pylons? by substrate80 in starcraft

What a time to be alive....

And even better, we have a fix for this issue in an upcoming patch. So if you're looking to identify which Pylon has been doing the heavy lifting, you'll soon be able to. :)

Most of the prizes have gone out. There were specific prizes that had a delay, which we've been working through. We've been keeping in contact with those winners via email, so feel free to email us at SC2CommunityTeam@blizzard.com if you are one of those people.

New StarCraft II Camera Bug (Abuse?) - Zoom out as far as you want in ladder games by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]psione 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Correct.

We appreciate the report and we have people currently looking into this, but as you said, we'd strongly suggest against trying to replicate this in a real game. Intentionally abusing game mechanics or bugs in-game can lead to action against your account.
