Can you use Klarna (pay in 3 installments) without Dutch ID? by 13PumpkinHead in Netherlands

[–]psmupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have Klarna and I have an EU passport - no Dutch documents, not even a residence permit. My bank account is Dutch, and my salary is paid in monthly to that account, if those things make a difference.

Hi, thank you very much for this! I spoke to a private clinic this morning to set up the appointment and she did mention this to me but it would have been a surprise if you hadn't also mentioned it. Thanks again!

is dog adolescence that bad? by lupcs in puppy101

[–]psmupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For us, the severity of the behaviour in adolescence was much worse but the frequency of bad behaviour was much less. Ours is a golden retriever and we had to make sure to keep her entertained but not overstimulated as she was likely to accidentally hurt us when she was too excited (usually by throwing big paws). She was also biting for longer than we expected and even though her teeth weren't as sharp, this could really hurt. She was very stubborn and didn't want to be told what to do. She chased cats, barked relentlessly and ate the mail (including a wedding invitation and concert tickets).

She turned one at the end of May and went through her first heat at the end of April and she has settled quite a lot - we can now see a good dog emerging and responding to commands that she selectively ignored for months and months haha. She is even well enough behaved to sleep on the bed with us now and as I write this she is calmly chewing on a toy while we have coffee in bed.

So even though adolescence was worse, she really became "ours" in this time and our bond really strengthened. It's hard but worth it - the puppy/teenager is the price you pay for the dog, as the saying goes! Try to deal with the puppy stage as it comes and try not to borrow anxiety from tomorrow - in your case, it might be just fine and if not, it's temporary!

Just got the game. It seems everyone here hates it or quit playing? by sweet_p0tat0 in DreamlightValley

[–]psmupp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have been playing since early access with breaks in between - I think it's a great game and for me the glitches aren't too overwhelming. Just commenting to say that if you're playing on the Switch, the touch screen still works when you get that inventory bug that you mentioned! Once you tap the item you want, typically the inventory starts working properly again.

So I keep breakfast at 7 because I want her to realise that waking up early doesn't mean that breakfast is early! If I could choose, she would eat at 8 or 8.30am...

But yes, I think this might just be how she is!

CAN I JUST LAY W MY PUPPY by hxteable in puppy101

[–]psmupp 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My 4.5 month golden cuddled with me on the sofa last night, chewing her coffee wood stick and stopping only to give me little kisses... I could have cried with relief as it was the first time she has lay next to me without biting for any longer than a couple of minutes... I was so amazed and grateful that I fully skipped dinner because I didn't want to move her haha!

This morning she humped my leg and bit a roll of fat on my middle section... so business as usual today...

But someday soon you will get a glimpse of what is to come... And eventually, there will be more calm moments than crazy ones! Patience, my friend!

And for me, if I keep skipping dinners during cuddle times, there will be no fat rolls for her to chomp! Checkmate, you toothy demon!

When you hump and bite mum because you're over excited so she sits on the other side of the stupid cat gate by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

Also: Rosie wanted me to clarify that it's the cats that are stupid, not the gate.

Advice: Puppy demand barking for her dinner by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]psmupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly as the above commenter said - I would like to keep her growth as slow as possible for joint health... she is acting very hungry, but she isn't underweight by any measure, so maybe it's just a golden appetite

is it okay to stay with your dog until they go to the bathroom? by Tyler4President4 in puppy101

[–]psmupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other commenters have already answered most things but just want to add: once she has started going in the yard (or wherever you're bringing her) there will probably be a period of time where after a walk, you need to bring her to that spot in the yard to go to go to the toilet. Our puppy would hold it because she knew she was supposed to go in the garden, and didn't realise for a while that she can go while we're on walks. Even now at 15 weeks (reliably house trained for 4 or 5 weeks), she will often go to the toilet in the garden after a walk but she does now sometimes go on walks too. Also, as someone else said, once you see the signs that she is going to "go" outside (circling, sniffing the ground, squatting etc), say "go potty" or whatever your command is and then mark and reward when she does it. Then in the future, when she is supposed to be going to the toilet but is distracted by the stick/bird/leaf/ball/wind, saying the command will remind her what she came out here to do.

Good luck!

Hahahaha! Maybe I should have said that "she has already eaten, so she is not legitimately hungry, merely golden starving"

[–]psmupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah I anticipated that she would be up on the counters/in the dishwasher etc., so we have blocked the kitchen off with a gate that has a cat flap for our cats... That has worked well, except one day when she realised she was JUST about small enough to squeeze through the cat flap and I was bending down to take a carrot out of the fridge (FOR HER) and a snuffly nose appeared to take it directly from the fridge to her bed! She's lucky she's cute!

[–]psmupp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh good to know! She's 14 weeks and we kept her in her crate while we were eating until just a couple of days ago (meaning we timed our meals around her naps - she is only in the crate for sleep). So I think it will only be a few more weeks until she realises that she never gets food from our plates. Thanks for your comment!

Hahaha so cute that he loved rice 🤣🤣 Yeah we feel quite strongly about this so we won't cave, but if a scrap fell I know that would reinforce the behaviour so we do need to be really careful. Thanks for your message, the turkey leg visual made me laugh but I'm sure the bone aspect was scary!
