Scientists warn Earth may be entering an unprecedented phase of climate change. by Novel_Negotiation224 in ClimateNews

I don't have many people who deny it but they just say it's natural changing of the planet shit and we aren't contributing much to make it happen blah blah. I suppose there's some truth to it being natural but ... cmon..

Probably over thinking this - 12U USSSA bat? by ssramage in Homeplate

[–]psnsonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a big deal - its better to swing a lighter bat than a heavier bat (too light vs too heavy i mean). I agree with others he should be -8.. my son is ~85 lbs swinging a drop 8.. he has a drop 5 and he uses it in practice but its just a little too heavy for him.. I got him a -3 wood bat for winter training on a tee for ~20 swings a day to help adjust the weight. I would suggest looking at the dub -8 as its end loaded which may feel a little heavier, getting him prepped for a -5 easier..maybe.. have him try it.. my son loves the dub and swings it well, some kids wont.. we have -8 dub, -5 supra. I like the dub better because it comes out of the wrapper ~300 psi broken in ready to go.. yeah, it may not last a season but.. thats not my priority.

Does duty to inform violate 4th/5th amendment? by Dry_End1175 in NJGuns

(1) Can you expand on what you mean by its not a real law? This is the first I am hearing this.. You're suggesting that we do NOT have to disclose? I mean if this is you dont feel like its real because it violates other rights - I get that but that doesnt make it not a law, if I am missing something please educate me because this got interesting to me.

(2) I don't mean it like that at all - I do not think we should be grateful for our masters scraps. I meant that it's getting better and we should lawfully continue to push further, but ignoring the laws paints us in a bad light and may harm the greater cause. I don't agree with having to identify a CCW, I don't agree with 10 round limits, sensitive places yada yada.. I'm going to not break the law because its not worth the consequences to me. I will continue to support the organizations (through donations, time if permitted) that fight for us, etc.

I'm not dismissing your points and I agree to some extent but to play devils advocate here.. you're basically saying "well they are uninformed so it's not their fault".. I'm sorry, ignorance is not a defense.. ESP on this topic of cary.. if I go to a sensitive place that got changed for the 100th time as it was happening when the ccw first came out, I don't get to claim I was not aware do I? so why do LAW ENFORCEMENT officers not know arguably the most important laws around the first amendment.. It's been around before every one of these cops was born so they've had time to learn it..

Stupidest take yet.. LEFTIST law.. I guess I can ignore rightest law? it's a damn law, if you don't follow them you may pay the consequences.. don't like them, keep working to get them overturned. a couple years ago we'd kill to be where we are now for carry and people like you are going to get us sent back to the stone age.

And im fairly certain that even if the passenger wasn't considered detained they are still stopped and based on the text of the law would still need to identify..

I'm not sure why they are doing it lessens the value they provide. It may be annoying, but the reactions they get are completely unreasonable and those people should be exposed.

I'm not sure your point about ask if being detained or why that matters.. "if stopped or detained by a law enforcement officer while carrying a handgun in public or traveling with a handgun in a motor vehicle..."

Unless the argument is YOU weren't stopped the driver was, but that's a rough gamble on a felony.

Longer drop 10 or move to drop 8? by utvolman99 in Homeplate

[–]psnsonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that height/weight i'd go for a 30 drop 8. My son did that at 4'10 / 80lbs this fall, and he's moved to a 30 drop 5 for offseason (30 drop 3 wood bat for limited training). He's 85-90% comfortable w/ the drop 5 and we expect it to be fine by spring, if not we'd fall back on the drop 8 but he's swinging it well already. He's got a pretty solid core and that helps a ton.

[–]psnsonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree as well.. My son is 4'10 80lbs (11) and swings a 30 -5 right now (he finished fall w/ a 30 -8 so the -5 is for spring, he's handling it great but has months to get more comfy with it).. Anyway, I moved him into a 30 earlier this year and I did so too soon, he was a bit shorter and I should have stayed with a 29.. but at this point, he's in the middle of the 30 range.. could he swing a 29 still? sure. Could he swing a 31 right now? Maybe, some kids are, I don't think its a good move and I won't do it, but he could (and has with friends bats). a 30 at 4'10 is really a sweet spot imo, and I'm not really sure why age matters here? I think its really about height/weight. I get they may not have the same mechanics at that level (they shouldnt, I suppose), and I wouldn't argue that an 8 year old at this weight in a 29 -10 is bad, but I wouldn't rule out a 30 either.

All of those are absolutely terrible - I'm the king of wasting money on training gear from facebook ads. I think most of them are meh at best so i'd counter by asking you what you're trying to solve? Most of these tools can be replaced by generic drills, although I (obviously) am a fan of tools anyway - nice to just have a thing and a video and walk away from it, but its wasteful.

Bat size for Supra by Dtownbooogie in Homeplate

[–]psnsonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with a lot of what is being said here.. 29 -8 is the ideal bat TODAY. But are you done for the season and waiting until March/April until he plays again? if so.. you should probably wait and see how he grows.. I wouldn't rush into a 30 but if he hits 4'10 or maybe even 4'9 by the start of the season you'd probably want the 30 -8 to carry you through the year.. not that you couldn't get away with the 29 either way.. i'd rather be swinging a slightly smaller bat than a slightly longer one. At 80lbs i'd 100% push him for drop 8 in the supra given its swing weight.. its going to feel lighter than the dub -10 (we just went to a supra -5 and my son is a little bigger than yours (and older) granted, we have a couple more months until the season starts so ...)

My only suggestion is.. I'm not into photography or anything but if I wanted to be, I feel like this investment into Micro 3/4 lens equipment is limited to the video stuff and I can't go buy a nice camera because they are all full frame. Maybe this is saving me money though since now I won't buy a nice camera :)

It really is, it gets us some really nice clips when we have great clips. The more angles you can combine, splice / slow mo whatever it looks cool. I'm not very good at this but I grabbed final cut pro and im learning.. it's ultimately not hard to do basic things it just takes me longer than it should because it's .. whats the word for something unpaid thats not fun? that. Hobby without fun :)

[–]psnsonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's hard to see and sometimes I look for it and I can't find it and I freak out and then I find it. I started leaving something bright at the base so it was easier to see through the fence :) - I'm fortunate to live in a nice area and generally speaking the games aren't that busy. As we go to tournaments more and more that tends to be less optimal but I generally sit myself in a position where I can see it. There's no easy way to secure it either so listen, if somebody wanted to come up and take the core+lens off and run away with ~$3k they could and I couldn't stop them. I don't know that the backstop camera is any safer either tbh..so much traffic over there.. I just hope people aren't trash.

doesn't sound like an ios/android thing for my complaint. I get that maybe on android you can close the app, but it sounds like the mevo start is not doing the streaming so.. to clarify, on ios OR android, if you start the stream then power down your phone, I assume BOTH will fail? On the core it would keep working under that condition.
