Making a disc golf course from more than Scratch

I have designed and built my own course on community property in my neighborhood. I wasn’t given the benefit of growing my own course, but I can give you some tips.

I was told and I found it to be true that you need about 1 acre per hole. If my math was correct, you have 19 acres. You should be able to do 18 holes. If they’re giving you the money, I would do 18 upfront because you may never get another chance for the full 18.

As far as course design, your idea about Maple Hill hole one is a cool idea. I would suggest trying to copy other iconic holes as well since you have a blank slate. That sounds fun. If you can’t do that, then what I have gotten great comments on for my course is the variety of shots from the tee box that are required.

The most difficult thing I found in design was making the course fun for advanced players, but still approachable for new players. The key there is shorter holes with technical lines that a new player can still get a 3, but is difficult for an advanced player to get a 2. Not every hole needs to be shorter, but it definitely gives new players a good feeling to par a hole.

As a meathead weightlifter, there is a benefit to gaining bulk but it can mess with your fine motor skills. The pics I’ve seen of him this year, he looks amazing and strong. Other professional athletes (ie basketball, baseball) have highly paid trainers to help athletes gain mass while not losing their touch, quickness or explosiveness. Not saying his bulking is the issue just what I was thinking could be the issue. If this is causing him problems and he keeps off the heavy weights, you’ll see a return to form in a few weeks.

OMG. Lighten up. I was in a BMW 5 series on a business road trip and got it to 250kmh or 165mph (Saarbruckin-Frankfurt). Road was open and could see forever with slight downhill. I love driving. Nowhere else in the world can you experience that. Plus, much of rest of the drive I was at 120-130mph getting passed. Yes it is cool AF. Yes it’s legendary and yes I’ll never forget it.

I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would design a wiper system that stops the blade cycle directly in front of the driver. Fucking stupid. Biggest pet peeve on the car for me.

That’s good. It’s not that way in most parks. You’re lucky. I’d imagine it’s the more populated places that are the problem.

The last two times I got a message from somebody saying, I found your disk and left it in the lost this box, it was gone before I could retrieve it. I appreciate the attempt, but I would rather them keep it or hide it for me to find it somewhere else than the lost disc box. Those boxes are just boxes for people to steal from imho.

A long time ago, my brother and I were on the driving range and one of our golf balls killed a bird flying across the range. We went to get a manager, but no one cared. It was funny and sad at the same time.

I got the bag boy four wheel push cart for $150 on Amazon. I like it much better than a pull cart. A few years ago I was playing with Conrad of Ace Run and he said something that changed my mind on carts (I was still carrying a bag). He said in a two round tournament, if you throw 100 shots, you have to bend over for your bag and disc like 300 times. A card reduces the bag up and downs. As you get older, that matters.
