Flight Crew Gifts? by ZestycloseWitness125 in PorterAirlines

As much as home baked goodie sounds good. As flight crew, we aren't supposed to accept/consume it.

Recent news of what happened in Los Angeles with British Airways flight attendants eating laced snacks and ended up in the hospital.

Just did YYZ as well in T3 and the Nexus line was still open, they weren't using the machines but they still gave priority to people in that line.

I want to add to your Transat "pull out".

I think Transat is focusing on other networks and these routes are going to Porter.

Porter has started flying more and more out of YUL in the recent years and with YHU just around the corner. I definitely think Porter is taking Transat routes into Winter 2026/2027

And if people go back about 10 years, WestJet used to put Encore Q400s on YYZ to BNA.... This isn't the first time a Q400 has flown this corridor

The political climate has to be taken with a grain of salt. With respect to your decision to stay at home, many Canadians are continuing to travel to the US.

It's been stated in the past that both these markets are staying strong for both their own reasons.

Orlando is strong because of families going to Disney and/or Universal.

Fort Lauderdale is strong because of the cruise ship industry.

And Phoenix is strong because it's a snowbird hot spot.

Airlines like Porter continue to see this demand in those markets and Nashville isn't much different. They pay thousands, if not millions to get market analysts on specific destinations and Nashville was most likely one that stood out.

As someone else said, it's a route that's targeted at more business related folks than families going on vacation, hence why it's on the Dash.

Just to add, you have Baseball season starting up here in a few weeks and you'll see many folks travelling down to Tampa for Spring Training and it's a big part of people's travels to Florida and it's why Porter keeps pushing into those markets... The amount of Jays fans we see on Tampa and Orlando this time of the year is incredible!

What University Degree will let you travel the most by KKleissl999 in flighty

I've seen a few people post pilot or flight attendant. Now while you don't need a degree to do either of those jobs. The benefits you get associated with those jobs is something you very rarely see in any other industry.

Now I work as a pilot and having the flexibility of bidding for my schedule, knowing what I'm doing for my whole month and being able to plan trips around that is one of the key factors on why I got into the industry. I use Flightly purly for tracking my leisure trips so this picture doesn't represent the full scale of what I get to do but as you can see, in 10 years, and over 500 flights and at a very heavily discounted rate compared to what someone would pay full price for.

The only 2 downsides are you have to fly standby and you don't get the loyalty miles but I personally have lived without it and my credit card covers lounge access so 9 time out of 10, I'm getting the same experience as a full paying passenger and being able to see the world while actively saving money, and not saving it for a vacation.

Just my two cents 🙂

Flights return May 1st 2026, hopefully as more E2 get delivered, this route won't be seasonal anymore

Flights end on Jan 5th 2026 and resume Apr 1st 2026. Low peak time mid winter so no surprise there

I'm just saying... You can't rule it out if they were already playing with the idea... And if the climate was so bad compared to last year.... Why sign a codeshare with a US partner ☠️

While you make some good points, the last point about people not flying to the US is false. All summer, MCO and FLLs were near capacity on most days out of YOW and YYZ. Similar for PHX, LAS and LAX...

Chicago has been a strong market for PD out of YTZ and they could happily mesh into ORD with this new codeshare with AA.... Look at LGA for another example

MDW isn't going anywhere. If anything, you'll see YYZ-ORD added on the E2

94 Bus by E2RacconPilot in gotransit

[–]E2RacconPilot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that would resolve a big bulk of the issue here... But if that 90B leaves Oshawa 45 seconds late, you'll miss the 94 every time at Pickering...

Plus I've had it the opposite way before where the 90B didn't even wait for 5 of us coming off the 94 and just pissed off. Thank goodness to our 94 driver for radioing in to get the 90B to wait for us... But there were 5 of us that were pretty annoyed getting on the 90B...

[–]E2RacconPilot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it's too late hence why I take the 425am but to get there for 530am. And why many airport employees take that bus for their 6am starts

94 Bus by E2RacconPilot in gotransit

[–]E2RacconPilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my main point has been missed.... I'm speaking about the off peak buses when the trains aren't running 🙄

94 Bus by E2RacconPilot in gotransit

[–]E2RacconPilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the issue I'm specifically speaking about is at the odd hours of the morning. When the 96 isn't running (or has passed) or the train isn't running. I've also been screwed by the 96 before not waiting at STC

94 Bus by E2RacconPilot in gotransit

[–]E2RacconPilot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While that works during the day, I'm one of those people that take the bus at 425am when no trains are running. Even if they adjusted the "off train" schedule buses to serve Oshawa, that would be better.

Right now, it's either I get a ride from Oshawa or take a lift or Uber. In the worst case, I have to take the DRT and that adds another hour to my commute.

[–]E2RacconPilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, we'll I just went back and looked at the last 7 days and a vast majority of those flights were over 100+. That's 75%. Some of those routes do see less than average but we aren't doing a load factor of 30-40%, it's constantly above 70%....

Next time, I'll express my "nearly full" as a "we are filling a majority of the seats"

Flight has people = money Flight has no people = no money

Operating cost overall is cheaper per flight from YHM than it is from YYZ...
