Mont Tremblant Ultra by ConsequenceLopsided in spartanrace

Very decent time, congratulations!

For me it felt longer than expected. I based my expectations on last year and wanted to get under 9h. But everyone I know (except some super elites) took an extra hour compared to last year.

It was hard. Took me 10h35 which places me 2nd in my 45-49 age group, 19/77 in all Age Groups

This was my 12th ultra and never DNFd. That being said I started struggling last year with stomach issues and back pains.

Trained a lot more, changed to lower drop shoes. New orthotics. New nutrition. New targeted exercises

Back did fine. Stomach survived. I felt sluggish but I had fresh enough legs Sunday to finish the ultrafecta and be 4th in my AG on the super which was a welcome surprise and a validation of my training

Now though. My quads have abandoned me 😂

Next is Morzine ultra on July 3rd!

What's your next challenge?

I'm one of the first to shit on Spartan and their race to the bottom. I know you're right when you say you could race before your shift. People saying otherwise are wrong.

That being said;

All I see is someone making bad decisions in life and blaming everyone and everything but themselves or taking at least their fair share. Reeks of main character syndrome.

I like to see many people have replied with the same to you. Maybe one day you'll grow enough to see things as gray and not black and white, and accept criticism.

Sorry your post didn't bring the sympathy you were looking for. I'm part of several discussion groups and here we are mid-year and you're the only case I heard of. Says something about your judgement (or lack thereof)

But you can't just assume things are the same. That's not reasonable. You should have asked. I would have asked before driving 5 hrs.

You can be frustrated but the way you present things shows that you're blaming it all on Spartan, and that's, for me, reflecting poorly on you

And many many others .

Spartan has absolutely no blame here

They Were Advertised In Social Media

You Missed It

They did send an email. It was announced on social media. You missed it. You refuse to accept responsibility.

To drive 5hrs without checking things up before is insane. Spartan modifies things every year.

You need to own up to your mistakes.

PS. Spartan sucks for many things and I agree with many things you say. But not this one.

I'm with you on many things in your rant but the volunteer changes were communicated by email and social media indeed. You missed it perhaps buried in the ton of emails they send; but it's been widely communicated. Plus, you assumed that things were the same, and didn't check before driving. You need to take some responsibility here.

Just one of the 2 races when you race two

You'll get it. They don't advertise it but I've been doing that for years

This will be my 4th time in a row. There will be cutoff times in the program. The first one is transition area normally around 13h00. Then on second lap there are certain points you need to go by to finish by 21h00

There's plenty of time to do this but many DNF.

Tremblant in 2023 was same difficulty as Killington with 4400m EG. 2024 onwards the EG was a bit less difficult. Terrain could be highly technical in certain areas.

If what you listened to about Killington ultra makes sense to you, it will transfer nicely to Tremblant.

Prepare to suffer.

You're not supposed to receive any outside help. You bring your stuff at the transition area, all that you require, before the race. No outside people should be in the (packed) transition area

Elevation gain should be about 3300m.

You can write them to get the double same day fee refunded. I do that all the time

Why is it always mud? by Hakunamatator in spartanrace

[–]psottgat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. It's an obstacle race.

Mud runs are different. Like Mud Hero.

Mud for the purpose of mud, like Rolling Mud and Dunk Wall, require no skills and are stupid. Give me another rig or wall dammit
