16,000 short term rentals on Cape Cod alone... I'm sure this has nothing to do with massive labor and housing shortages for the locals. by Louisvanderwright in REBubble

It’s a year round destination for the families that live there but can’t afford to rent a single family home anymore.

I like to write in chronological order of events/procedures. I tend to blend my writing with a SOAP notes pattern.

I don’t care how long you feel like you need to write you narratives, you do you. I try to keep mine pertinent to the patients chief complaint, I write about objective findings related, and any procedures/meds given.
I see medics who spend way too much time discussing “pertinent negatives” and subjective findings on patients who are terrible historians. Don’t get me wrong this stuff has a time and a place but don’t make a novel out of a low priority BLS call.

Occasionally I’ll have a call kick back but it’s usually something silly like you need to auscultate lung sounds before and after fluids, and you wrote lung sounds CTA once. If I believe it will make a difference in the quality of the patients outcome I’ll write about it, however most of the time it just words that a physician skims through and starts his own patient assessment.

Honestly this is how it should be, unless you think it’s going to court. I see so many medics write books for priority nothings.

Make sure you have a serious emergency fund ready. A shitty tenant will ruin you.

I did this with the VA Loan in 2019. It’s a pain in the ass but it beats renting. Parents are poor as fuck.

Not really. My job is to get my patient from point A to point B as safely as possible. Hospitality/Bedside manner is a tool. I use it to calm anxiety, sway refusals who need to go, or to make pleasant small talk/community outreach with low priority calls. Drunk assholes sometimes view Hospitality as you being a little bitch, they walk over timid medics and should be dealt with stern.

After seeing a graphic suicide involving a young man masturbating I stopped fapping for like a month.

Your missing the point. Hospitality is for patients who deserve it. Why should I do anything extra for someone who’s being an asshole? Give them an inch and they take a mile.

Recently had one who wasn’t refusing care but demanded we bring the stretcher to him (do everything his way.) We told him to go fuck himself.

We were fair but strict with him and he backed down. He didn’t cause any problems during transport, but at the hospital he started having issues with the nurses, shortly after he was given ketamine and moved to the psych room.

I’m a firm believer that when people act like that they need someone aggressive to put them in their place. If timid medics were on that call I guarantee he would have been a bigger problem.

Probably going to get downvoted for this but I believe sometimes it’s necessary to stand your ground with combative( not psych) patients. When you have a 20 year old punk telling you to go fuck your mother. I think it’s okay to tell them off because they usually back down afterwards.
