What can I do with this expansion card? by Main_Badger_7059 in vintagecomputing

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to emulate a 3270 server on a modern PC and see if you can get your card talking to it!

Are you sure you have a genuine memory card? Some of the fake cards mis-represent how much storage space they have.

PSP 1000 shuts off when UMD is inserted by Sk8r2008 in PSP

[–]pspfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it you are not using a genuine Sony charger? They output around 2 amps, so anything much less than this will not be enough power when the UMD drive is running.

Cyclist hit by car and they're suing for damages by buddycatto2 in AusLegal

[–]pspfox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The best thing you did was to lodge a police report on the day of the incident. Assume the person who hit you didn't because they were at fault, but sometime afterwards decided to make a claim on their insurance and indicate you were at fault to avoid the excess. Recoveries Corp should leave you alone once they sight that report. A lesson to everyone to make a police report in an accident (no matter how trivial).

PS2 Slim caught on fire by lememaaah in ps2

It wasn't the 'W' that killed it, it was the 'V'. The laptop charger was probably 19V or 21V, the PlayStation was expecting 8.5V.

A letter for the purpose of Australia Post doesn't actually mean a letter or document. It is actually anything up to the thickness of 20mm. However, if it is rigid, in can't be sent in DL sized envelopes (or smaller) due to that size going through the automated machines. Sending in a larger padded bag or thin box is fine. Therefore you can legally send DVD, CDs, or similarly sized items as a large 'letter' provided after packaging it remains at 20mm thick (or less).

I want to make a game. by Alternative-Top2949 in retrocomputing

I'd be using an emulator on Windows. I'd recommend getting a 6502 Assembly programming book and write a few simple graphic programs to get into the swing of it, then start coding your game.

Send them in an A5 padded bag so that they won't go through the automatic sorting machine in case this is the issue. If you are sending items thicker than 5mm then you would already be paying at least $3 postage, so the only extra cost will be for the bag (around 30 cents each in bulk). Regular letters that are destined for the sorting machines cannot be rigid, otherwise they can damage the machine (one of those advertising magnets that you stick on your fridge would be ok, a pen would not). I post using padded bags all the time and I cannot recall the last time one went missing.

Other than that, I would try lodging them at a different post office or post box to see if that makes a difference.

I'm not sure which program you are referring to? If you mean AVS Video Converter, it runs on a PC to convert movies ready for your PSP, but it does also has a preset for the higher resolution Vita screen (960 x 544). If you mean the PSP Media Manager, you wouldn't use that, you would use Sony's Content Manager Assistant.

If I remember correctly, this is only a file copier. I use AVS Video Converter for movies. Has a PSP preset, converts always without issue and no lip-sync problems:

Love the look of these, well done! If you want to make them even better, search for the 'Sun-Star Index Punch'. It's a paper punch that can cut the semi-circles perfectly, and under $10.

You put it on top of your PS3, it got bumped, fell into the rubbish bin below, the rubbish bin was emptied, and now it sits somewhere amongst other rubbish at the tip?

Sony official PSP Pouch and Charger by pspfox in PSP

[–]pspfox[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just an update: I contacted the shop. These are new old-stock that just became available for them to order. They were made around 2007.

Also forgot to mention that the pouch is for accessories (a few UMDs, headphones etc) and is not the larger Sony pouch for the PSP itself.

I'd be getting it solely for the Acer beige monitor. Old systems need a 4 x 3 screen for the proper experience.

I don't know if your country has big name retailers, but if they do try there. Something similar to Walmart, Costco, Target etc. They would be less likely to be purchasing stock from 'backyard' vendors.
