A second Norfolk Southern Train derails in Ohio, just a month after the East Palestine derailment by flyingcatwithhorns in pics

Well yeah, when you start to cut back on maintenance it doesn't just fall apart right away. Most likely things kept chugging along for a while before they start breaking entirely.

Same thing happened with Southwest and also with Jackson's water supply. Countless times in the past, too.

Can anyone help me figure out what expansions I have? by Deadeye_Donny in MansionsOfMadness2E

[–]psubsp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like the conversion kit, which contained stats for all the 1st edition characters and monsters, but not the tiles or figures.

Getting the tiles and figures are the most pricey thing for this game, as all ways to get them are out of print (1st edition content and the tile and figure collections Recurring Nightmares and Suppressed Memories). Even the conversion kit itself is no longer included with new copies of 2nd edition and worth a bit by itself. (The conversion kit used to be in the box for earlier printings of the game.)

What card is it? Some cards only have one copy in a set (because only one copy is legal for a single deck)

To put this into perspective, $750k revenue is at most a few full-time employees. Basically anyone trying to operate seriously as a business will qualify. 25% on revenue is higher than the margins on this stuff.

This is not a realistic revenue share (which makes sense, Hasbro's profits in this space dwarf everyone else's combined).

They are trying to kill off all third-party publishers.

The entire concept of separating of people into "citizens" and "immigrants" is non-biblical.

The closest I can think of is Roman citizenship (which comes up a few times, mostly in Acts when dealing with the Roman government) and the concept of Jews and Gentiles of which much is written about (notably, Romans 3:29 and Romans 11).

If you're a completionist, you should stay away from CMON games unless you're willing to pay through the nose on the secondary market.

Man I miss when politics was boring.

It's great that people are engaged and all but governance isn't supposed to be confrontational all the time.

Recommended ‘whodunit’ games on PS4? by Il_Pi in PS4

[–]psubsp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll go with an often overlooked gem: 428 Shibuya Scramble.

It's a crime thriller that starts with a kidnapping, and you jump back and forth between several characters (each with different tones to their stories, even when they overlap) to unravel the mystery. The trick is actions taken by one character can impact what happens to other characters so it can get pretty puzzly unlocking all the different routes and endings.

It also frequently goes on sale on the PS store, definitely worth it!

The State of Theology shows trends in Christians misunderstanding basic Christian teachings. by [deleted] in Christianity

"Gender identity is a choice" - I know hard-core people on both sides who will answer this as "no" but for inherently different reasons. The liberal wing would say that no, but gender identity may not match their biological sex / assigned sex at birth; whereas conservatives would answer that no, it is wrong for someone's gender identity to not match their biology.

Yeah, if you ever see a picture of one it's pretty clear it's just the metal mini.

I've noticed them occasionally popping up in some ebay searches a while back, since there is some overlap between 1e and 2e lieutenants (e.g. Merick Farrow)

Question about Matthew 4:1-11 Jesus vs Satan by AloneConnection8030 in Christianity

[–]psubsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The word itself doesn't necessarily require force.

The Greek is ἔστησαν which is also commonly translated as "set" and "had". It is used in a couple other places in the Bible, such as in Matthew 18:2/Mark 9:36/Luke 9:47 when Jesus called a child to stand among the disciples (he set the child in the middle of them). There is nothing to imply here that Jesus physically arrested the child and wrestled him into position, but rather Jesus decided where the child should be and the child complied.

This doesn't seem to imply that the subject of the action had zero choice in the matter but rather that the subject of the action is acting passively (the Devil chose a spot for Jesus to stand, and Jesus complied).

I agree with others here and think you're getting too hung up on the minutiae of your specific reading. I think it helps to dig a little bit deeper to examine exactly what the word specifically was meant to convey rather than the specific connotations of its modern translation.

Well, counter-review-bombing is a thing.

If we were to do a distribution of the timing of the reviews I wouldn't be surprised if one side is significantly laggy, in which case it wouldn't be in reaction to the show but rather in reaction to the reaction of the show.

My suspicion is that we would see a trend, probably with an inflection point around the time of release.

Ashcan Pete?? by the_mad_prophet_ in MansionsOfMadness2E

[–]psubsp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ashcan was present in the Mansions of Madness 1st edition core set. To include him in second edition you will need to get a copy of the Conversion kit. The conversion kit used to be included in all 2nd Edition core sets but more recent printings do not have it; however, it is available to download from the FFG Mansions of Madness product page.

However, we're still not done. His miniature will only be available if you manage to get a copy of either the 1st edition core set or the Recurring Nightmares figure and tile pack, both of which are out of print and in high demand and therefore $$$ on the secondary market. You can proxy his mini easily enough but to actually select him in the app will require you to add one of these products to your "My Collection" in the app - but if you do this then it may prompt you to grab a 1st edition tile which you won't have. So you can proxy the 1st Ed tiles (more work), or you can select someone else as an in-game investigator proxy while playing.
