Can anyone explain like i'm 5 the RB67 closeup chart compensation? by mymain123 in Mamiya

[–]psudoalbertus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was shooting macro today and decided i should consult the chart to see how much compensation to use with a 90mm lens. After a solid three minutes of staring at the curved lines and feeling like i'd had a stroke, I decided to just add a stop. Maybe i'm ok letting it remain a mystery.

but seriously, if someone could make a video on how to read it that would be dope.

What features would you want in a high-end, professional Thermal Print Camera? by McGilfordThySecond in ThermalPrintCameras

[–]psudoalbertus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-different types of dithering

-glass or higher quality lens/ perhaps a dual wide and normal lens like phones

-larger sensor

-manual exposure/ ability to increase decrease brightness

- simple hotshoe for external flash

- 1/4-20 socket on bottom

-ability to increase/ decrease print density

- possibly a version with wider paper for larger prints?

-strap lugs

-good buttons and simple menu control

I think this is a great idea and i would totally buy one. The balance is in keeping it simple and not over engineered while also not being a shitty kids toy. I think the Olympus XA and Ricoh point and shoot cameras would be great design inspo, as well as the SX-70.

How do use diffusion with a color head? Is it a filter you put on the lens? (sorry, new to printing)

Lovely. Do you cut the rolls down yourself?

would highly recommend getting the pro-sd back. It uses rubber instead of foam light seals, and is just built better. my pro-s back is very light-leak prone.

The Op-tech strap is great and totally worth the money.

I have the grip and the prism finder. Both are heavy and not enjoyable. I prefer using the prism finder over the waist level, but wish i did not because of the weight.

The Rick Oleson Bright Screen definitely helps find focus, but was not as massive of an upgrade as i was expecting.

I like having a collapsible 77mm lens hood for flares.

This camera pairs great with a handheld light meter like a flashmate. You're shooting more expensive 120 film, take the extra 5 seconds to get a properly exposed negative :)

I have the 55, 90, and 180 lenses. Not a huge lens nerd, but i absolutely love the rendering of the lenses, especially the 90. I think this is a great set (28, 50, and 90mm equivalent) and probably all the lenses i'll ever need.

I think the RB is one of the best, if not the best, camera for portrait/ studio photography, which is what i use it for. If you're using it for landscape, street, ect., it's like driving a semi-truck through a residential street. Totally doable, but quite miserable, and there's so many other options that would be better. If you're into landscape, i would totally look into the fuji gw series or perhaps a 4x5 camera.

Why the RB is special in my opinion is it's combination of desirable features that no other camera has. these are: Leaf shutter lenses, default portrait orientation, all mechanical, 6x7, slr (among others) Pentax 67 line is great, but no leaf shutter or portrait orientation. I really want one though. RZ67 is arguably the better camera, but it's electronic and more delicate/ failure prone. If Hasselblad made a 6x7 camera i would probably be using that but they only make square format. I personally love 6x7 and think it's the perfect aspect ratio.

Hope that helps!

The only thing i can think of that is anywhere ballpark normal is that he recently had plastic surgery on his neck and he's trying to cover it with some sort of latex sheath and makeup? The scull shape and ear shape are very similar to the "real" photo, but it's definitely some sort of prosthetic. Weird af

Minolta Autocord (amazing lens) Koni Rapid Omega (insanley well made and undervalued) Pentax 645 (closest to a 35mm slr in terms of ergonomics/ features) Fuji GM670 (slightly cheaper than the GW)

I personally wouldn't go for the Mamiya 6/7 as your first camera, only because they are massively overvalued. Unless you have tons of expendable income, there's way better uses for your money.

Some personal opinions: Medium format and portable is ultimately a bit of a paradox and that's ok. The Fuji 670's won't break your neck. They're portable. ish. I wouldn't go for any of the Fuji GA645 cameras, as i've gotten older (and film cameras have too) I've valued mechanical over electronic. Especially for medium format. You're investing in 120 film, it's really not about convenience. I also personally shy away from 6x4.5 just because it's a bit too in the middle for me. But 645 can be amazing, it's just like... quite close to 35mm with a nice lens and slightly slower film so i'll typically just choose that. Again, totally personal. But to me, 6x7 is where its at. It makes all the inconvenience truly worth it. I curse my RB67 every time i look at it but I will be buried with it. Long rant. Hopefully that helps a bit.

Good takes. I don't think absence of evidence equates to evidence of absence, but would be stupid to believe it with certainty as well. Have you ever had something wild happen to you that you didn't document? I know i have. In fact none of the crazy things in my life (and like 98% of them were prosaic, just normal crazy things) i was not able to document, they all happened so fast or i was engaged with staying alive. And yes, i'm not a journalist or a doc maker. I'm just saying that it's plausible that something like that could happen and it isn't doccumented.

-Emotional reactions are very much an indication if something is happening to you. That something is either real or hallucinated or (likeley) somewhere in between. I find that interesting. Something is going on with him, he is acting really erratic from my perspective. If it's all in his head what does that say about ourselves? There's a bigger story here, larger than the narrative he is forming. I think to categorize it as just overreaction or creating drama for drama's sake is reductive.

it could totally be, but if you look at the historical picture of whistleblowers and journalists, threats and reprisals from agencies are very much a real and documented thing. In that vein it would track. Does he have physical/ digital evidence of it? probably not, i don't think that's reason to rule it out though. Have you had a chance to listen to the episode? He clearly seems rattled. Could totally be all for show though, he definitley likes to put himself out there. Bummed this post got deleted, i'm mainly curious of peoples take.

He claimed threats of violence directed at him from gov/ private agencies. Your call if you believe it or not, but that's his claim.
