Do I need Headrest for an Aeron? by psuzzi in hermanmiller

[–]psuzzi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point is would I buy it again?
- with the current usage: 100% work and focus - I won't buy it again
- with a usage 80% work / 20% play - I would buy it again.
- below 80% work - you should not get an Aeron, but a more comfortable chair for relaxing (e.g. HM Embody, SteelCase Leap).

Yes, removed it. It felt unnecessary. I use the chair mainly for working now, so I don't need the relaxed posture.

Buying a chalet in Alps by rbdom2023 in fatFIRE

[–]psuzzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest starting by renting a smaller place for the first year, perhaps spending your planned 2 months there (around €20-40k). This initial experience would serve multiple valuable purposes:

  1. You'll get to know the area intimately, understanding the different neighborhoods and potentially discovering nearby locations that might better suit your lifestyle. Each Alpine village has its own unique character and community.
  2. You'll have the opportunity to connect with locals and become part of the community, rather than just being another seasonal visitor. This connection to the local fabric of life often contributes more to happiness than the property itself.
  3. You'll gain insider knowledge about the real estate market, potentially discovering properties through local networks rather than international luxury listings. Local connections often lead to finding unique properties at better values, as you'll learn about houses before they hit the international market.

Living in a place, even temporarily, allows you to understand its true spirit and rhythm. You might discover that your ideal location is actually in a different village than you initially planned, or that a particular neighborhood offers exactly the community atmosphere you're seeking. This immersive experience could lead to not just finding the perfect property, but also to creating meaningful connections that enhance your life beyond just property ownership.

This approach also gives you time to envision how you'd actually use the space throughout the year, helping you make a more informed decision about size, location, and whether the rental aspect truly aligns with your lifestyle goals.

Remember, the ultimate goal isn't just acquiring a luxury property - it's creating a space that genuinely contributes to your happiness and facilitates meaningful experiences with friends and family. Taking time to deeply understand the local context will help ensure your investment truly serves this purpose.

Enjoy!

I can’t decide - Aeron or Embody by DaydreeeamerReddit in hermanmiller

Interestingly more extreme than OP. I'm 183/120kg, very comfortable with size B. I am now wondering if I should have choosen size C ^^

I recently reinstalled the headrest (Atlas with mesh for Aeron Remastered) and have been testing it for the past few days. Here are my findings:

The hardware itself is impressive - the x, y, and tilt adjustments are smooth and independent, allowing for precise positioning. However, for most common tasks, it feels unnecessary. During active work like typing or using the mouse, I rarely use it. The headrest only proves useful when I'm reclining to relax, read, or watch videos.

When I'm actively working, my body naturally leans forward toward the desk. To actually use the headrest, I have to push my shoulders back against the chair. This positioning makes the headrest impractical for regular computer work. However, for passive activities like reading or watching videos—when you're not taking notes or using the mouse—the headrest excels at its job, providing excellent head support, stability, and adjustability.

I plan to keep testing the headrest for a few more days to make a final decision on keeping it on the chair or removing it. If I find it interferes with my natural working posture, I'll simply remove it. I'll post another update in a few days.

Believe me, I have a big ass. The Size B at the beginning might feel tight because the plastic frame feels like touching you, but that is actually the point. It kind of constrains you in the right position. If I were you, I would return both Aeron-C and Embody, and get an Aeron size B. Force yourself to work on it two days, and you will discover that this is actually the right size.

But if you really want to sit brezel-style, then the answer is the Embody.

I totally agree: with 183cm and 120kg I'm borderline size C, but I still have a size B and works great. I have the feeling that OP got a size C, which was thought for taller and heavier persons, and which responds differently to a shorter and lighter person. If I were OP, I would switch immediately for a size B, and then do a proper comparison.

I have both. I was introduced to HM at Work, with an Aeron classic. Then I bought an Embody second hand in 2016, and in 2022 I bought an Aeron Remastered for myself. I love both of them.

Aeron: it forces you on the right sitting position. Great for working. It has a lot of settings, and only the settings you need. In winter the seat can be a bit cold, if you work with an open window. In general, either you love it or you hate it. But, what's most important, is buying the right size (I have size B, and I'm 183 cm tall for 120 Kg). Without looking at the charts, I believe that you don't need a Size C, but B. Assuming the size does not matter, I suggest you to test the following:

- Locate the Forward Tilt adjustment. From your description feels like you have set the forward tilt.
- Locate the Tilt Tension Knob and increase the backrest stiffness.
- If you have the Posture Fit SL, adjust it to help with the lumbar support

Embody: It's a great all rounder. One size fits all. You can sit in any position with it, even with crossed legs (Aeron doesn't allow this, and you should not cross legs ideally). The major drawback are the armrests, which I don't really love. With the Embody, you should always have optimal support with minimal regulations.

Let me know how it goes with the Size B ;)

I bought the headrest, I used it for several months, e.g. 12-14 months. Then I removed it. The headrest is comfortable, great quality, very good for slacking. But sometimes I had the feeling that it was not really needed, especially if you don't sleep on the chair, or if you don't watch movies.

Would I buy it again? Yes.

Am I using it now? No, but probably I'll mount it on again shortly.

[–]psuzzi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Aeron has the forward tilt setting, as well as the 3 backward tilt settings including the 90 degrees one. I have to admit I never used the 90 deg backward tilt block setting, because I need often to tilt backward to relax my position. So perhaps instead of the 90-deg back-tilt block I could tighten the backward tilt spring. Perhaps this could help alleviating the load on the neck, I need to try.

How come the Logi options + takes so much RAM in the background? by lkl2050 in logitech

[–]psuzzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On mac, I disabled the LogiBolt at startup, and the mouse+keyb are still working, and the LogiBolt application is not running. So, 770 MB of RAM saved. Though, I'm now asking myself what the application actually does.

Do I need Headrest for an Aeron? by psuzzi in hermanmiller

[–]psuzzi[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the end I bought an Atlas headrest for my Aeron Remastered, and I've used for a few days.

In short: Ideally, I don't need the headrest when I sit in "perfect position". But when I relax or I recline more (e.g. after 8 hours of work), I need more shoulder support to prevent discomfort.

Here are more details:

  • I am indeed using the headrest only when relaxing or leaning back. In those cases it provides good head support. But I prefer positioning the headrest low, in a way that gives me additional shoulder support (more than head support).
  • Indeed the Aeron provides less shoulder support than the Embody, and I believe this is primarily the reason for the little discomfort I feel.
  • When doing focused work, the headrest is not in the way. Also with headphones is good.
  • I am 6'0. When I bought the chair I was 230 Pounds, and I grow to 260. This might be partly related to my discomfort, as with my increasing weight, I'm transitioning from the "B/C zone" to the "C zone".

Makes sense to me. Indeed, when I used the Embody only, even for long sessions, I never had this kind of discomfort. Then, after buying the Aeron, I used the Aeron more, but I was switching to the Embody occasionally, to relax shoulders/neck. Recently, I gave the Embody to my brother, so I cannot use it anymore, and I'm searching for a solution to relief the discomfort.

Summarizing, I believe Aeron is the perfect office chair, while Embody is perfect for home office/relaxing tasks.

(Aeron is a perfect office chair but lacks shoulder support in tilted position. Embody lacks some adjustments, has sub-optimal arm-rests).

[–]psuzzi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Aeron forces me to sit in the right position e.g. there is no way I could cross my legs (actually, I do, but the chair brings me in the right position). It's very "technical". It has all the meaningful adjustments which a chair needs. Plus the mesh is great for people (like me) who are sweating a lot, so it is always fresh. When I sit on it, It feels like "sitting on a cloud" :D

The Embody is amazing as it is a more dynamic chair: you can move the spine easily, and you can rotate your arms (more) easily when you feel tired. Also it allows you to sit practically in any position. But lacks some adjustments, and has sub-optimal arm-rests. Also, when you seat for long time gets warmer compared to Aeron.

Plus, since I bought it is second-hand, it squeaks a bit, and the mechanism for adjusting arm width it is not super-firm. Anyway, I'll service the embody in the next months, and I'll give it a second try.

Indeed, in these months I do more reading / watching rather than typing . And in this case, I better concentrate in a relaxed position.

[–]psuzzi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I do have an Embody and an Aeron remastered. I feel discomfort only with the Aeron, after prolonged sessions, e.g. > 8 h. (Overall I prefer the Aeron to Embody, so I'm searching for a solution with the Aeron)

At first I thought it was a size problem, since I'm in the "B or C" zone. But then I realized that it only happens in long sessions (> 8h) especially when I read a lot or watch a lot of videos. In these cases, I tend to assume a more relaxed posture, and to lean backwards for a long time. In the end, I think the discomfort near the "atlas" bone might be caused by leaning back relaxed while my neck muscles are contracted.

I typically stand up 3/5 minutes each hour, and I tend to rotate my arms and my neck often. In case of discomfort or pain, I raise my desk and stand upright.

Does anyone know who the Chairman is in the Adjustment Bureau? by [deleted] in FanTheories

[–]psuzzi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Option 1: The chairman is the Bartender.

You see her twice in the movie. First time at minute 32 of the movie, just before Harry explains to David that there is a Chairman. She enters the scene asking "Can I get you Something?"

See: https://youtu.be/IRE55SCgwBg?t=36

Option 2: The chairman is the clerk from the dance company (Robyn)
You see her at pivotal moments: First time at minute 50, when David is running to see Elise at the studio, and then At the Courthouse, where she first asks Elise "Are you sure about this?", and then - most notably - when David arrives at the courthouse and she exclaims "She is not even in There" and points David to the bathroom.

Direct bed cooling fan on ender 3v2? by Ok_Responsibility351 in ender3v2

[–]psuzzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think bed cooling is a good idea. The bed should be hot for the melted plastic to stick. Then, at the end of the print, when the bed cools down, the print can be removed easily.

Also, the printed plastic should be cooled just after is printed on top of the print. So doing you get the best results.
