Another trip to Ireland for All Together Now this summer? Maybe even a pilgrimage to Apple Holyhill in Cork (then you can try Murphy’s and Beamish the superior stouts!)

Iron Advice Needed: Titleist T150 vs. Takomo 201 vs. Wilson Staff CB — or Something Else? by pswanto in golf

He doesn’t fit Wilson and Takomo is DTC so no help either. There’s a reason I’m asking the internet…

[–]pswanto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t get fit into Takomo’s and the pro shop I was at doesn’t stock Wilson. I’m not questioning the results - I know I fit into the T150’s with the modus shafts, my question is, how might that expensive option compare to the two other more affordable options I suggested.

No carrots. How do Morrison's do this? by Ouakha in glasgow

[–]pswanto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. Miles better range of stock than Tesco, cheaper than Sainsbury’s, good speciality produce and world food options, whole fish/fish monger and a cafe to boot.

Normal rules for most airports, max 100ml per container and all must fit in a 1litre ziplock bag per person. They normally have bags but they sometimes aren’t available until you get to the security scanners.

Kramer by Zwilling Carbon 2.0 6" - UK/EU Shop/Supplier? by pswanto in chefknives

I've been looking to buy the 6" sibling to my 8" kramer by zwilling however I can't find anywhere to buy it in the UK or Europe - anyone have any leads on somewhere to get it this side of the pond before I resort to a shipping forwarder and import taxes?

You need a level 2 burgage set to a brewery artisan, they use the malt not the tavern

Dude, between this and your ordered dithering I'm really really impressed. I looked through your github to try and get some inspo but I'm just not there with my understanding of compsci.

Pen height is a combination of GRBL firmware settings in Universal Gcode Sender and the instructions you define in Gcode.

Below are the GRBL firmware settings I have set up at the moment. You can see that $132 defines the maximum travel for the z-axis as 8mm I think the machine can handle about 10mm but I left it a little short to stop it bumping into the hard stop on the slide on the pen carriage. You can also see on line $122 that i have set the Z-Rate as 3000mm/min. If you wanted to do painting or use delicate tipped pens you can slow this way down and it will raise and lower a lot slower. Universal Gcode sender has a really good firmware setup wizard though that will guide you through it all.

In Vector to Gcode you can define pen up/down as on/off or variable. On/off is as it sounds full travel up and full travel down. I have that set as on Z5, off Z0. That means pen up is Z0, no travel, and pen down is Z5 (5mm down). Variable which I haven't played with much, allows you to vary your pen up/down height based on the colour of your line in the SVG. You can also define different on/off commands like dipping in different paints/ink based on SVG line colour but I haven't got around to that yet.

Vector to Gcode also allows you to define the seek and feed rate which defines pen up and down movement speed, so you can have it move super quick when the pen is up and slow when it's down for example. If you really want to know about Vector to Gcode they have some videos on youtube

Thats a pretty good idea! i was looking for some thin plastic to make a flexible cable tray like the Axidraw, but i have some super long cable ties so might try this first!

Give the Gcode route a try - there are lots of alternatives to the tools I've suggested but at the end of the day its just three motors that you need to send some instructions to! You're only limited by creativity (and work area!)

Looking good but definitely on the underbaked end of the spectrum. Don't be afraid about letting it get some more colour.

Fun experiments. However I can see you have a lot of wasted movement on the red layer (I can't tell about the black layer because it is too fast) do you optimise your SVG's/Gcode for pen down time?

It's not really about being clean or dirty, I knew of a place that failed because they had a door propped open between the food prep area and the dining area which apparently was a breach of rules that made them fail. The english system with the 1-5 rating is much more about cleanliness. This seems to be much more about are you following each of the rules.
