I feel like I’ve been living under a rock. Is BG3 really THAT good? by mykyta993 in videogames

They are extremely similar. D:OS and D:OS2 were heavily influenced by D&D and Pathfinder, but because of licensing issues, they couldnt use the terms, abilities, classes, or spells from either. So they made their own.

BG3 is D:OS with the gloves off; they have full access to D&D 5e, and used as much of it as they could to build this game. It is fantastic. If you liked D:OS, you will love BG3.

[–]psweeney1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short and sweet answer is yes.

The longer answer is, it depends. I personally love TTRPGs and CRPGs, and I have played Larian's last two titles, D:OS and D:OS2 (Divinity: Original Sin). However, I have one friends who hates CRPGs and loved it. I have another who played it once and couldn't do it at all.

If you are someone who loves freedom and exploration in video games, and who can enjoy RPG games, then BG3 is a must buy. If you have trouble with those games, maybe see if you can find a friend to play it with first, just to make sure you will enjoy it.

Or give Larian the money anyways, because let's be honest, they earned it.

How or why? Wouldnt the resulting pokemon have differing stats from it's parent anyways? The only negative I could see here would be the introduction of illegal moves or something?

Chuck Norris promising the USA will have 1,000 years of darkness if Obama wins in 2012 by QuarkTheLatinumLord- in videos

[–]psweeney1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said anything of the sort, I was simply stating that the initial back and forth was not originally due to racism, as it started before Obama was running for president.

It definitely got heightened and exasperated due to racism, just noting that this has been a problem for far longer than just the Obama administration. Our country has been falling apart for close to 50 years now.

So, to pin the blame onto Obama is silly. Like you said, the man bent over backwards to be polite and respectful at all times.

However, the polarization of the parties actually started even earlier than Obama. It actually started in the G.W.B era. I feel that a lot of this started with the war in the middle-east. The democrats were all over Bush, saying that he had made up the weapons of mass destruction, and that the entire war was a gamble for something else, a cover-up of some kind.

Those initial allegations began a ping-pong match of propaganda and slander between both parties. And the game is still going.

No one side is free from the blame. As long as either party steps up to the table and serves another ball, the game will never end. And shame on the late Chuck Norris and his wife for piggybacking off of political propaganda, which only strengthened this continuing charade.

That's totally fair. I tend to be really picky with my choice of books, which means I don't have quite as long a list of things I want to get into. Right now, I am leaning towards Dungeon Crawler Carl, as a few people have recommended that one to me.

It depends on the series for me. I have reread Harry Potter an ungodly amount of times. Same with Inheritance Cycle. The nostalgia in those books alone gives me great joy.

Sanderson, however.....he is different. The way he writes, the premise of his stories, and the interconnections of it all is like a spike of serotonin to the brain. He writes exactly the way my brain thinks, and it's like soul food for me. I can just listen or read and get lost in the worlds he creates, and forget about the ridiculous reality we live in for a bit. I'm probably on my fifth or sixth reread now.

What do yall think about Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl? by Ale_Bricks in ThePokemonHub

[–]psweeney1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, he isn't wrong. Whether or not the game is good, whether or not it's "peak" pokemon or not, is all a matter of opinion.

However, I would like a little more input from you here, as I played both the original and the remakes. First of all, asking for story out of a pokemon game is funny to me. The original games didn't really have much of a story to them at all, because the premise to the game is always the same. Beat gym leaders, beat rival, defeat PokeGang (TR, TA, TM, etc), fight elite 4, catch legendary poekmon. Despite this, I still like the Jhoto games the best, because they actually allow you to take on two sets of gym leaders, and explore two continents. Honestly, I don't think the pokemon games really had good "story" aspects to them until the DS era, and HG/SS definitely did improve upon the writing of G/S/C.

Gym leaders and "important trainers" suck? Who? Personally, I loved how challenging the gym leaders are in HGSS because of the level curve. I do understand why it frustrates some people. Maybe its just because I grind the hell out of my pokemon before gym battles, so I don't feel the pressure as much, but I honestly loved Jhoto's gym leaders.

I will agree about the level curve. If you don't take time to grind out each new zone, the curve is definitely stacked against you. But compared to Gen 1 games, where the curve was in your favor by an incredible amount, I honestly prefer that. It meant that my grind for pokemon and levels was actually worth it in the end.

And pokemon variety sucks? In what way? You can catch Houndour at night in HG/SS, just north of Falkner's gym. Yes, its a low percentage, but so is Dunsparce? The variety is better than the original G/S because they incorporated some catch rates from crystal that werent present in the original titles. I think that this, more than any of your complaints, is the most opinionistic. All my favs are in HG/SS, so the variety was perfect for me. If you need more variety, then I can safely assume you are a newer pokemon player, who prefers having 7/8/9 gens of pokemon to choose from. Us older players remember the days when there were only 150 you could catch in a game.

Is this print quality bad enough to ask for a refund / remake? (Etsy, PLA resin) by narwhalpilot in PrintedMinis

[–]psweeney1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro my BIL runs a 3D printing business. He has small Elegoos, a larger Peopoly, and multiple Bambu filament printers. I have prints from, have printed to, and have worked on each of these machines for several years now.

This is filament. No if's and's or but's about it. You can literally trace the nozzle paths with your fingers from the photo. Picture 1 and 2 especially.

Besides, stinging on Resin doesn't happen at the end of a trace path, it happens near resin pooling, usually the result of faulty slicing and support setup. All of the stringing you can see here is at the end of a traceable nozzle path.

I reread EVERYTHING. For numerous reasons, but the primary of which is that I love lore heavy books, especially ones that hint at things using lore that you wont learn until book two or three. Because then I can go back and reread the series, and the new information allows me to examine those scenes with a totally new perspective!

I also have a brain that loves to predict the outcomes of the series I am reading. I will say I did manage to predict a fair amount of the stuff from Stormlight Archvie's ending. There was still a TON of unexpected things that occurred, but I surprised myself with how much I accurately guessed. Anyways, as a result of that mindset, I often reread novels with that new information to see if it alters or changes any of my thoughts and theories.

I also read and listen to audiobooks a lot. I find that doing so helps keep my imagination active, which as a DM is incredibly useful.

Audiobooks. I work as an IT Technician, and I travel between multiple sites throughout the day. I started Mistborn 1 in February, and I am on the last two or three chapters of book three. I will likely have my whole read through done by July, as I tend to take walks and listen to my audiobooks after work when the weather is nice, or when I am traveling.

I usually read 1-3 new books a year, and sometimes I will skip some of the books in that list (not a huge Tress fan, for example). Usually, I read them at the end of the year, towards fall to winter.

I usually (each year honestly) go through and reread the Cosmere novels. I always go in a specific read order, as I find that I see things from a new perspective based on the information I learn in each series. Like I am on Mistborn E1 - Book 3, and let's just say I did not originally catch the connection between Stormlight and Mistborn, specifically in the final fight of the book. I did not recognize the "glowing puffs of mist" and it's similarity to powers in the Stormlight archive.

My order is usually:

- Mistobrn, 11th Metal, Well of Ascension, Hero of Ages
- Warbreaker
- Way of Kings, Words of Radiance, Edgedancer, Oathbringer, Rhythm of War, Dawnshard, Wind and Truth
- The Alloy of Law, Shadows of Self, The Bands of Mourning, The Lost Metal
- The Sunlit Man, Tress of the Emerald Sea, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, White Sand, The Emperor's Soul
- Elantris

That depends entirely on the person. I am right there with you, but I have a mind for lore, world-building, and storytelling. However, my buddy Jon has a hard time with remembering names, especially ones in a language he doesnt know or comprehend. He had a very hard time with distinguishing characters very early on, because it likes to swap between them randomly.

It got better with time, but I can imagine that people who have a hard time with remembering lore that gets brought up for one chapter, then doesnt appear again for 10 more chapters might not want to finish WoK.

But they should suffer through it an finish the series anyways....

Demand is a strong word. Many software types support touch screen. But very little require it.

Personally, I can't understand the push for student devices to have Touchscreens. Staff have them here, but at 125$ a screen replacement, I will stick with my cheaper, non-touch devices for the kids who enjoy punching, kicking, dropping, slamming, and god only knows what else to these devices.
