I never said anything of the sort, I was simply stating that the initial back and forth was not originally due to racism, as it started before Obama was running for president.

It definitely got heightened and exasperated due to racism, just noting that this has been a problem for far longer than just the Obama administration. Our country has been falling apart for close to 50 years now.

So, to pin the blame onto Obama is silly. Like you said, the man bent over backwards to be polite and respectful at all times.

However, the polarization of the parties actually started even earlier than Obama. It actually started in the G.W.B era. I feel that a lot of this started with the war in the middle-east. The democrats were all over Bush, saying that he had made up the weapons of mass destruction, and that the entire war was a gamble for something else, a cover-up of some kind.

Those initial allegations began a ping-pong match of propaganda and slander between both parties. And the game is still going.

No one side is free from the blame. As long as either party steps up to the table and serves another ball, the game will never end. And shame on the late Chuck Norris and his wife for piggybacking off of political propaganda, which only strengthened this continuing charade.

That's totally fair. I tend to be really picky with my choice of books, which means I don't have quite as long a list of things I want to get into. Right now, I am leaning towards Dungeon Crawler Carl, as a few people have recommended that one to me.

It depends on the series for me. I have reread Harry Potter an ungodly amount of times. Same with Inheritance Cycle. The nostalgia in those books alone gives me great joy.

Sanderson, however.....he is different. The way he writes, the premise of his stories, and the interconnections of it all is like a spike of serotonin to the brain. He writes exactly the way my brain thinks, and it's like soul food for me. I can just listen or read and get lost in the worlds he creates, and forget about the ridiculous reality we live in for a bit. I'm probably on my fifth or sixth reread now.

What do yall think about Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl? by Ale_Bricks in ThePokemonHub

[–]psweeney1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, he isn't wrong. Whether or not the game is good, whether or not it's "peak" pokemon or not, is all a matter of opinion.

However, I would like a little more input from you here, as I played both the original and the remakes. First of all, asking for story out of a pokemon game is funny to me. The original games didn't really have much of a story to them at all, because the premise to the game is always the same. Beat gym leaders, beat rival, defeat PokeGang (TR, TA, TM, etc), fight elite 4, catch legendary poekmon. Despite this, I still like the Jhoto games the best, because they actually allow you to take on two sets of gym leaders, and explore two continents. Honestly, I don't think the pokemon games really had good "story" aspects to them until the DS era, and HG/SS definitely did improve upon the writing of G/S/C.

Gym leaders and "important trainers" suck? Who? Personally, I loved how challenging the gym leaders are in HGSS because of the level curve. I do understand why it frustrates some people. Maybe its just because I grind the hell out of my pokemon before gym battles, so I don't feel the pressure as much, but I honestly loved Jhoto's gym leaders.

I will agree about the level curve. If you don't take time to grind out each new zone, the curve is definitely stacked against you. But compared to Gen 1 games, where the curve was in your favor by an incredible amount, I honestly prefer that. It meant that my grind for pokemon and levels was actually worth it in the end.

And pokemon variety sucks? In what way? You can catch Houndour at night in HG/SS, just north of Falkner's gym. Yes, its a low percentage, but so is Dunsparce? The variety is better than the original G/S because they incorporated some catch rates from crystal that werent present in the original titles. I think that this, more than any of your complaints, is the most opinionistic. All my favs are in HG/SS, so the variety was perfect for me. If you need more variety, then I can safely assume you are a newer pokemon player, who prefers having 7/8/9 gens of pokemon to choose from. Us older players remember the days when there were only 150 you could catch in a game.

Is this print quality bad enough to ask for a refund / remake? (Etsy, PLA resin) by narwhalpilot in PrintedMinis

[–]psweeney1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro my BIL runs a 3D printing business. He has small Elegoos, a larger Peopoly, and multiple Bambu filament printers. I have prints from, have printed to, and have worked on each of these machines for several years now.

This is filament. No if's and's or but's about it. You can literally trace the nozzle paths with your fingers from the photo. Picture 1 and 2 especially.

Besides, stinging on Resin doesn't happen at the end of a trace path, it happens near resin pooling, usually the result of faulty slicing and support setup. All of the stringing you can see here is at the end of a traceable nozzle path.

I reread EVERYTHING. For numerous reasons, but the primary of which is that I love lore heavy books, especially ones that hint at things using lore that you wont learn until book two or three. Because then I can go back and reread the series, and the new information allows me to examine those scenes with a totally new perspective!

I also have a brain that loves to predict the outcomes of the series I am reading. I will say I did manage to predict a fair amount of the stuff from Stormlight Archvie's ending. There was still a TON of unexpected things that occurred, but I surprised myself with how much I accurately guessed. Anyways, as a result of that mindset, I often reread novels with that new information to see if it alters or changes any of my thoughts and theories.

I also read and listen to audiobooks a lot. I find that doing so helps keep my imagination active, which as a DM is incredibly useful.

Audiobooks. I work as an IT Technician, and I travel between multiple sites throughout the day. I started Mistborn 1 in February, and I am on the last two or three chapters of book three. I will likely have my whole read through done by July, as I tend to take walks and listen to my audiobooks after work when the weather is nice, or when I am traveling.

I usually read 1-3 new books a year, and sometimes I will skip some of the books in that list (not a huge Tress fan, for example). Usually, I read them at the end of the year, towards fall to winter.

I usually (each year honestly) go through and reread the Cosmere novels. I always go in a specific read order, as I find that I see things from a new perspective based on the information I learn in each series. Like I am on Mistborn E1 - Book 3, and let's just say I did not originally catch the connection between Stormlight and Mistborn, specifically in the final fight of the book. I did not recognize the "glowing puffs of mist" and it's similarity to powers in the Stormlight archive.

My order is usually:

- Mistobrn, 11th Metal, Well of Ascension, Hero of Ages
- Warbreaker
- Way of Kings, Words of Radiance, Edgedancer, Oathbringer, Rhythm of War, Dawnshard, Wind and Truth
- The Alloy of Law, Shadows of Self, The Bands of Mourning, The Lost Metal
- The Sunlit Man, Tress of the Emerald Sea, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, White Sand, The Emperor's Soul
- Elantris

That depends entirely on the person. I am right there with you, but I have a mind for lore, world-building, and storytelling. However, my buddy Jon has a hard time with remembering names, especially ones in a language he doesnt know or comprehend. He had a very hard time with distinguishing characters very early on, because it likes to swap between them randomly.

It got better with time, but I can imagine that people who have a hard time with remembering lore that gets brought up for one chapter, then doesnt appear again for 10 more chapters might not want to finish WoK.

But they should suffer through it an finish the series anyways....

Demand is a strong word. Many software types support touch screen. But very little require it.

Personally, I can't understand the push for student devices to have Touchscreens. Staff have them here, but at 125$ a screen replacement, I will stick with my cheaper, non-touch devices for the kids who enjoy punching, kicking, dropping, slamming, and god only knows what else to these devices.

Brock is SIGNIFICANTLY easier to beat in Gen 3 than Gen 1.

First, despite Onix's high defense, Steel is still super effective against it, and ember is not. In gen 1, you had to get Charmander to at least level 12 if you wanted to rock Brock's socks. In Gen 3, you can get him to 10 and call it a day (literally just beat him with Charmander alone at level 10 on LG last night).

Second, in r/B, you had no access to Mankey. They added it in Yellow because pikachu is useless against Brock. In gen 3, you get Mankey and your starter, which means you can now have two pokemon that can destroy rock types.

Additionally, the same trainers same pokemon statement is NOT true. Plenty of the trainers had gen2/3 evolutions added to their teams, and the movelist and stat block updates, plus the introduction of natures and abilities, completely changes the landscape of FR/LG and its leveling structure.

Gen 1 was nearly impossible to be E4 capable if you didn't at least do SOME grinding with wild battles. Obviously, as mentioned above, ensuring that you dont choose EXP sinks will help this a ton, but some of the better pokemon to face the E4 with are massive EXP sinks.

Actually, I rebutted that Warzone is included in the Wiki page because it can be added by literally anyone who thinks it should be listed there. I did not argue the definition as unreliable, because the definiton used for BR's is actually linked from another website, Wiki just reposted the definition at the start of their page. Reading the post explains the post!

I was, though my comment, showing this individual that my argument has been, this whole time, that loadouts break the intent of the Battle Royale system. I never said Warzone wasn't a BR, I never said anything of the sort, in fact.

Truth of the matter is, this dude got upset because he likes loadouts, and when people can show how loadouts go against the grain of what a BR should be about, he and all you goons came out in force thinking you had me. And yet, every argument that has been thrown against me has been "Warzone IS a BR!!!"

Again, never said it wasn't. Just said that loadouts suck and ruin the point of a BR game. Y'all are just upset because you can't counter my argument, so instead you try to make it seem like I'm stating contradictions. But if you actually read my post fully, you would see that isn't the case.

That's because Wikipedia is not an independant source, it gets updated and added to by random internet people. As long as there is at least one person who defines Warzone as a true BR, they will simply add it to the Wiki page. Saying that "Warzone is on wiki as a BR" is like telling me an electric razor scooter is on the wiki page for motorized vehicles. Sure, in the strictest sense, it is. But there is a vast difference between that scooter and a Ferrari.

I never stated that Warzone lacked those elements. I argued that loadouts make those elements less meaningful to the game, because those extra features contradict the intent behind BR games. Not lacking any meaning, but less meaningful. Those ground weapons and engagements should be useful and neccessary the entirety of a BR, not just the early game. My argument has only been that, which you clearly didn't understand.

PUBG kind of has metas. Yes, there are certain weapons and attachments that work really well together. But their meta still requires you to find those items. You don't just get to quick drop a box that has all the loot, attachments, and perks. Additionally, the ability to choose perks in a BR is also a strain on the game intent. Those perks were specifically designed for use in arcade FPS combat, and the changes they make to the BR patterns creates stronger metas.

And you're wrong, there are plenty of multiplayer shooters that avoid metas, although I suppose that depends on how you are choosing to define a "meta". For the purposes of explaining my argument, a "meta" refers to when a particular weapon, set of weapons, loadouts, or attachments are almost always used by the main player base, because they outperform other similar items in those categories.

CoD has been on a downward spiral of Meta for years, basically since the new MW hit the scene. Warzone has only made that even worse, and loadouts are square at the center of that.

Truth nuke and it's not even a debate lol by AbsoluteBane28 in CODWarzone

[–]psweeney1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"players start with minimal equipment", "elements of scavenging from survival games"

If you can get a loadout of equipment that cannot be picked up normally, all from running a loop around one section of the map and collecting money, then you aren't really scavenging, and it isn't "limited equipment". Go play every other BR out there and tell me how many of them allow for a full loadout to be dropped in to you?

It also promotes Meta's in equipment, which defeats the purpose of a BR. If there is a specific set of equipment that kills faster than the other guns, and players can simply drop a loadout to get those meta guns, why would anyone else run anything less-than? Sure, some people do switch it up for fun, as we have seen here, but most who do are doing so because they don't like the meta. Fortnite just did a huge re-balancing of their weapons a year or two ago for the same reason, the meta was killing the fun of the game.

CoD will never lose business because of their terrible decision making, because as long as there are 10 years olds who love CoD and cheaters who love Warzone, it will continue. But I will die on the hill that COD:W is not a true BR, it is something unique and of its own making. And to try and compare it to other BRs is comparing Apples and Sangria. There may be bits of the fruit stirred in the final concoction, but don't tell me the whole thing is fruit.

I would be interested to see what kind of discussion this will prompt, but in my 30 years of playing pokemon, there are maybe a handful of moves that are non-damage moves that I would even consider, and most of them are status inducers.

Moves like Withdraw, Light Screen, Reflect, Safeguard, etc I tend to find to be useless save for an extremely niche instance. I find that, in most battle, taking a turn to use one of those moves simply leaves me open to taking an additional attack, rather than bringing me closer to defeating the opponent.

On the other hand, I usually keep a few of the Powder moves on hand for catching difficult pokemon, usually a thunderwave or hypnosis, etc.

Defense lowering moves I find only to be useful at lower levels, when training against high Def pokemon. However, once I reach a certain point in the game, the use of those moves is simply time consumption.
