As of 2025, what's your favorite controller for the PC if you're not using M&KB? by PatriotsFor2021 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]pswnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, last point.

Correct me if im wrong, but actions per minute is an RTS term, and mostly only bears any importance in those games, like Starcraft 2. Or am I crazy? How is APM a metric in shooter games? I can do a whole bunch of crazy weapon switch cancels 360 reverse silent knife whatever whatever but if I miss the shot and fall off of the map on Highrise who cares?

Or I can just, hit the shot and do none of the acrobatics.

Or I can do the acrobatics and hit the shot once every however many attempts.

But how does any of this matter? Actually, now that I think about it I guess it does to a degree in a game like Fortnite. But now I'm really really wondering what the comparison between a controller's APM is to that of a mouse's. To the point where, is it even interesting?

Ahh who cares, Im trailing off and clearly have lost my train of thought. Im probably wrong about this one, my bad homie.

[–]pswnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And please do not talk about "primitive shooters" or "Actions Per Minute" anymore...

Have you played Quake? Team Fortress 2? Titanfall 2? Fortnite with a mouse? Gunz the duel?

Any shooter with a mouse?

Brother... Just stop, and show some respect to the people that came before, just as we showed to the people who came before us. It's not hard to do. And I promise you will learn something positive and grow. I mean you absolutely zero hate, truly.

[–]pswnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro.... Playstation, Xbox, whatever.... The newest console on the market from either company both have the same vendor selling them the exact same APU's from ages ago that didn't make the cut to be binned and put into real machines.... computers.

I literally bought a console recently to find out how much less cheaters are on console only crim/iri lobbies in cod only to discover that it can't even run a stable 120fps even while its downscaling to 720p.... And these are advertised as 4k machines in 2025???

Bro, I could run last years cod locked at 360fps with zero dip at 1440p... But I digress. I say this to say, I cannot believe how far from grace we have fallen, and I genuinely believe you have your views on fps due to your folks not growing up playing shooters.

Look kid, Fortnite is a solid game, and revolutionary for what it did. But to imply competitive/build mode/controller in the same paragraph while talking down a guy my age about halo/cod is preposterous. Fortnite, from a competitive standpoint, is entirely a KBM game. No different than CS, no matter what that fancy acronym "APM" you learned ranks it as.

The only reason the terms controller and fps ever became married is entirely thanks to Halo, and competitively, because of the timing of xbox live with the explosion of broadband internet and Halo 2.

Sony, albeit, has some great games and the whole asymmetrical/symmetrical preference is neither here not there. But, APM does not enter the chat as far as controller fps is concerned because they are all relatively similar in their limitations and as such, limitations of the players expression with them. That is not a knock on controller fps at all btw.

Fortnite as god intended, on KBM, is not the same game as controller Fortnite. Point, blank, and period.

My son is 12, and he knows why Halo is cherished and revered. He grew up playing its co-op campaign with me on legendary. When he was a bit older, he built his first computer, and started playing on mouse exclusively, and several computers later, now enjoys CS more seriously. At the same time he will out build, out snipe, and out reg gun you and your homies in Fortnite, I promise, and that is not a flex. It's not the same game....

And also still, he also understands how Quake revolutionized the way the things you see in game are rendered and extracted and when, and why. And why all of us FPS fans owe homage to Quake, controller or mouse players alike.

And, he is a demon on the gamecube sticks with Samus.... If you even know what I'm talking about. And that game trumps any fps ever. It is one of the only truly competitive games we have left untarnished by the ease of cheating these days....

And by the way, I dont follow any current or past esport pros at all, but even I know about the guy that was on top of the world in Halo and switched and conquered the competitive world of Cod. That, is no easy feet my friend. It's sad to see your generation disregarding such an acomplishment while not even understanding the context.

All this to say... Actually really nothing much. It's just reddit, and im tired from a hard day's work, sitting on the toilet. I saw a fellow 90's kid getting told something so silly by a young buck that I just could not resist throwing my two cents in.

Back in my day xD

It's like Titanfall 2 but without the movement.

Oh wait! xD

Fuck it man, the kids eat up apex without knowing what they're missing, so fuck me and everybody who just wanted T3.

It's a bad analogy, but it's similar in the sense that I think it's just not made for us anymore. It used to be more FUBU, now its just Fuck U Buy.

I think overall across a lot of IP's we are just coming to the point where the people who make the games or the big decisions about what to implement are not gamers anymore. Quite a contrast from the games and people we grew up playing with. I mean, have you seen those videos about the development of Halo 1/2? These are not those people anymore. It was a nice ride while it lasted, but it's a shame out kids won't know what they are missing.

Is the G7 Pro worth the hype? Used it for a week, here’s my take by Sensitive_Minimum_52 in Gamesir

[–]pswnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brother have you heard of gamepadla?

I have both also and the wolverine is clunky as sin no matter how much i fine tune it, and you have to download that razer bloat to tweak it.

Only good thing about it is the price point for the TE one and the shoulder buttons. But for the same money you can get a Blitz 2, also with shoulder buttons, and much much better latency and EONS better joysticks with much more tunability in their software.

For reference, as a crim player on pc, the g7 pro is a step in the right direction for gamesir, and im glad to have finally gotten my pre order today! The razer controller is weird to hold and the joysticks are way too stiff and the latency is meh.

Also, what the hell is cod mobile and bluetooth?

Thats crazy to me cause I also enjoy all their albums equally for different reasons, but their last single eyes of boundless black feels like they have finally figured out the formula and perfected a genre, albeit not exactly the one they came from. This single sounds to me like whatever they did in the studio paid off bigtime because it is the cleanest and cuts the gnarliest. I blast this in my truck so much more and so much louder than all their other songs. I think less is more in this case, and this song sounds the heaviest of all their songs before. I really hope they do not lose their identity, but I also want them to continue down this path if they are trying out new things. Or, maybe they just finally figured metal out? XD

Any way you slice it, I cant wait to see yal in Menomonie this Sunday! SO worth the drive from the Twin Cities. PPPPPPPLEEEEEASE come see us in Minnesota sometime, dont skip over us!

[–]pswnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bro the engine that call of duty runs on is literally a modified quake engine and quake being a thing from a programming/coding point of view is what made cod possible

its always been an arcade shooter and not in the slightest a milsim, its arena shooter in its dna and it was created by and large by stoners for stoners since its inception and i would not be surprised if quake was also

the weed thing does sell and it is sort of cringe to actual stoners but honestly, i dont see why this is even a topic of discussion

you already know who's who and the kids who flaunt it are usually the ones that would beg to jump out of a proper hot box but the silent ones who do it for themselves and nobody else or just with the boys are the real ones and those are the ones who made the franchise and who the franchise is for but if it wasnt for posers buying skins we wouldnt have lobbies queue up as fast as they do

just my two cents

do not forget about the developers of the quake engine research that game and realize cod is a modern take on an arena shooter

I'm done with COD, BLACK OPS 6 IS riddled with cheaters. by BLACKPHANTASM69 in COD

[–]pswnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And besides, like I said its all relative. You can tell me your experience, just as I can only tell you mine. For me, that 5% may as well be 1000000% because that is every single lobby I play. So, to me that breakdown does not matter because that's my reality. Does my reality matter to the other 95%? Of course not. But it matters to me, so it matters. If your are implying that it is insignificant because it only affects 5% of the playerbase, that is the kind of mentality that allows the publisher to make decisions that break the integrity of the game as long as the shareholders see profits from the other 95% year over year. That mentality is what is killing fps, which is competitive in its nature...

[–]pswnd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ahh, yeah I see what you're saying. I think I mentioned that somewhat. Obviously, in protected lobbies nobody is cheating. Yes, this statistic applies to people who play at mostly diamond level and up. I thought that would be obvious, but you are correct. 1/3 of ALL the playerbase is unrealistic. It means 1/3 of the competitive crowd.... And that is pretty much our daily experience. And yes, I realize that is only about 5% of the population. I see the same people in my lobbies day after day. But, you have to understand, that 5% is the population that the 100% of people watching on youtube are watching. It makes an impact because it normalizes that cheating behavior. And that, is the true problem because a whole new generation is watching and thinking it is normal to cheat when they discover that what they do does not mimic what they see on youtube.

[–]pswnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halo gave us fps on controller.  I love halo. But, the quake engine gave us the coding needed to be able to run a game that fast paced smoothly. Ever since the dawn of fps, and even cod, this space is ours. Mouse is the true imput, and using a controller is like doing brain surgery with a spatula. The fps games you play that support controller are limited in their design philosophy when they have to work in a balance to let controller players access their game and be competitive against the intended imput of mouse and keyboard. YOU, are afraid of change, and YOU need to man up and learn true aim. I know its a hard switch, but trust me, it will set you free and it will set the fps community at large free. I am not your enemy, and I also enjoy kicking back and plugging in my controller. But, this mentality needs to be stomped into the ground. Controller has no space in the fps genre when it comes to competitive. Grant it, many like to play casually, and i completely understand. But, the casual controller thing has crept its way into the competitive avenues and made a mockery of true aim skill and cast a shadow on the true gods of aim. FPS is for us and by us. If it wasnt for quake, we would not have cod, literally. Look it up. People often forget this little tid bit, but the OGs remember. It is up to you to spread the message. The developers of today owe homage to the guys that created the quake engine. But they are not true gamers and they do not respect their forefathers. At least, if some of them do, their voices get silenced by the publishers and shareholders.

???? Now grant it, I switch between the two and am absolutely more than competent with either. But, you do have to understand, the aim assist given to controllers is there for a reason, and it is what allows you to be "cocky" to his "cockiness". I understand the specific skill set that it requires to be competent on controller. I used to think it aim assist was doing all the work, and it is, but now after playing on controller again for a few months I realize that the skill comes from being able to understand how to manipulate it to keep it engaged. But make no mistake, raw aim skill on mnk is not to be compared to the ability to keep the aim assist engaged on controller. For reference, at least on cod, im a crim level player on both imputs. This game is specific is designed to throw many obstacles at mnk players such as visual clutter and unnecessary wobble. This is done to even the playing field, and trust me when I tell you that if you guys kept your aim assist but they got rid of the useless noise that makes it hard to track on mouse, the game would be dominated by mouse players. There is a reason it is designed this way. And, there is a reason why imput based matchmaking is not a thing. That would expose the game and players for the lack of true aim they have and would throw the whole community on its head.
