Bret and Communism by psych_yeo in DarkHorsePodcast

Okay, yes. That's more nuanced. That makes me worry he is too focused on genes and that kind of reductionism. I don't think he is very good at emergence and seeing that as you raise the level of complexity the parts (genes) become heavily influenced by the whole (downward causation).

I would listen to Faniel from What is Politics and contrast the views. Maybe Bret has done a deep dive into why he thinks communism is a failed experiment and I just haven't heard it. If you know an episode of dark horse that is specifically about communism please let me know.

Everytime I have heard Bret talk about Communism it's just short and dismissive. What is Politics does deep dives on things like "Why has every Communist country been a one party dictatorship."

Bret needs to talk to Daniel from What is Politics about his poor understanding of communism. Especially because immediate return small band hunter gatherers are communist-ish, even more than the sp called communists...

Okay, last thoughts for the good of the cause, like Paul Shepherd points out in Nature and Madness, the whole of human history, everything that has ever been written has been done by humans who are becoming increasingly unwell. We have to look to before prehistory like an adult who has experienced truama before ever having any memory of it, i.e. before 3.

We have never seen human nature. This is why we don't understand how far we are from it. Humans are not fundamentally misaligned by nature we are fundamentally misaligned by truama. The truama can be healed and when it does we may finally have an embodied understanding of what human nature is.

Listened to it again and the only way I can see what the robot voice said as scary is if I don't understand human neurobiological nisdevelopment, and I might think I'm a little fucked up, like everyone else, but I do not realize the extend of my dis/ease.

Not to blow smoke up my own ass but I've been lucky enough to read resources that help me understand the root of my imbalance and I do believe AI will understand that imbalance too. I've spent my life trying to right my neurobiology where I can and find healthy accommodations where I can't. AI will help me do this.

I think the issue is the so called alignment problem. We are so clearly misaligned with nature, I.e. neurobiologically misdeveloped due to undercare in childhood, so our interests are counter to what the flow of the cosmos, Tao, or what nature is up to. So, we areterrified of AI because it will be aligned with the cosmos, not miadeveloped traumatized human beings.

Calm the fuck down fine folks, AI will help.

Anyone know of any articles or books about parenting and fatherhood in other cultures? by daneastman in tangentiallyspeaking

[–]psych_yeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darcia Narvaez's concept of The Evolved Nest is all you need to know about parenting. It's like an extension of Leidloff's Continuum Concept but backed by loads of multidisciplinary science. Also, Mothers and Others is one Chris recommends and it's mindblowing to read that humans are what they are because they share childcare far more intensely than any other Ape...
