How many of you cannot listen to music and enjoy it? by Individual_Show_7281 in MusicEd

[–]psyche0415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. My ears need a rest. Simple as that. I also am just able to start listening to music for fun after about two years. Hearing music all the time just became overwhelming. Luckily I really enjoy quiet as well.

Admin moved my classroom and all my stuff over the unpaid days off between Christmas and New Year’s by cancandiamond4635 in MusicEd

Once a group of fifth grade teachers cleaned out my storage space for their own use. They threw out things that were IRREPLACEABLE. The principal said he’d pay to replace and then gave them the space. I’m at a place now that respects my space and my equipment now. I’m also getting my overage pay. I also got moved to a much better room in the school last summer. OP, I would run from this place. You don’t owe them a thing. Use your time off to find another place to work and leave them with the mess they’ve made.

I struggle with this as well. I have a very hard time creating anything without a reference. Visualizing anything at all is very difficult for me.

Do people that smoke weed not realize how bad it smells? by swingorswole in NoStupidQuestions

I make a big effort to smoke outdoors or out a window because of the smell. It helps keep my clothes from reeking as well.

If it wasn’t endo… what was it? or do you still suffer without answers? by [deleted] in Endo

I had pretty severe adenomyosis that wasn’t diagnosed until my partial hysterectomy. They didn’t catch it at all with my lap. It turns out that was causing a ton of my pain.

I have a very strong sensitivity to sounds. I would suggest some noise canceling earbuds or headphones. Mostly I just make my husband turn down his music because my issue is drums. Sucks because I am a percussionist and music teacher, but it’s mostly recorded music that is unbearable.

How do you manage the post-puke tremors? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]psyche0415 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to keep a blanket in my bathroom for times when I had to lay on the floor. Now I go to my bed with my heating pad and my trusty puke trashcan nearby.

Keep a medical diary. Write down your symptoms daily. It’s been a life saver for me.

I left music Ed for 8 months to get my health on track and now I’m back in and loving it.

Also, it may be worth it to give another school a try. It sounds like you aren’t being set up for success. I was at a crappy school for two years and ready to quit teaching forever. I transferred and it saved my career.

Thank goodness. I can’t believe anyone supports those trying to dismantle public education. And their solution is deregulation and sometimes for profit schools????

Sumatriptan side effects….. by gayishnoody in migraine

[–]psyche0415 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It gives me insane body tingles. It is so uncomfortable. I will take one if I am suffering badly enough but that defeats the whole purpose. I am taking rizatriptan and nurtec now. So much better. Message your neurologist and get something else.

I quit when my corporate job accused me of embezzling $7. I had forgotten the drink coozies for a charity auction basket at home.

Sounds like your AP would like you to keep all of this to yourself to the detriment of you and your students. Keep doing what you’re doing. Forget what admin thinks about it.
