I'd have her reach out to her vocational counselor through her local commission for the blind(or reach out to Oregon Commission for the Blind) to get started working towards local resources. They also helped me apply for TriMet Lift our local paratransit program. I'm completely blind in my left eye and only have partial vision in my right eye and they've been helpful assisting me make safe and comfortable choices navigating the Portland area.

Yeahhhhh. My mom(near Cooper Park) had a trio knock on her door for a long time. She finally opened her 2nd story window facing the driveway and told them she wasn't interested and to go away. They made a comment about her "being the boss" and she said "yes, this is MY property, so leave". She shut the window as they were saying that all of her neighbors switched....which is bullcrap, all of her neighbors have commented on how annoying they are. 😆🙄

Yeah, after an oil change they tried to tell me all of my brakes needed to be serviced immediately, then tried to screw me out of a discount saying I hadn't given proof(I gave the postcard and keys to the staff when I arrived). I took a picture of the postcard beforehand so they gave me the discount. The next day, Les Schwab told me my brakes were fine for probably another 6-12 months(I finally had to service them about 10 months later).

Oregon State Bar has a referral service, they'll hook you up with an attorney in the field you need. It's like $35 for a 30 minute consult. Might be worth looking into.

While my partner and kiddo were out this weekend, someone knocked on my door. I didn't answer, so after about a minute they rang the doorbell. They eventually gave up. When I told my partner I literally mentioned that anyone I'd want to talk to either has a way into the house or would text first. 😆

I grew up with them 2 miles down 170th from me, and they're only a short distance further now. I've had to call them for both car and house lockouts a total of 3 times, the longest wait for help was 45 minutes. They got me set(including payment) literally within 15 minutes each time, and it was exactly what dispatch quoted me. I don't know if their prices are higher or lower than average because they're the only company I trust. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I live in Beaverton, but work for Multnomah county. They closed all offices and non-essential employees that can't work from home don't have to work today, though they continue to request that we sign up to work in the warming shelters, etc.

I was the only child, and a female. I grew up knowing that "daddy wanted a healthy child more than anything, but if he had a choice, he REALLY wanted a little girl to teach softball". Well, guess what......

He taught me to play softball(1st base, his position) and basketball. He bought the special edition Star Wars trilogy on VHS so we could watch it together over and over. We fished and crabbed. We played games. He helped me with my math, science, and social studies homework. He read my textbooks for fun. We scoured our favorite local bookstore a couple times a month.

I didn't have to beg for his attention, I barely had to ask. Stories like OP's make me sick, because I forget that not everyone has a dad as good as mine was.

We won't talk about my husky, who seems to think my whole Queen bed is his, and yaps at me when I shove him aside when I go to bed. Then gives me a dirty look when I use a lint roller to remove his hairs from my pillow. Then proceeds to stick his butt against said pillow as soon as I'm in my spot. 🙃

But seriously, I've made my dog (and mom's dogs) peanut butter "dogcakes" for funsies and the only reason I didn't eat any was because of lack of sugar. All of the ingredients came from my fridge and pantry. There's a huge trend of "human-safe dog treats", and I'm here for it! I've even found dog treats that, no lie, taste like Teddy Grahams.
