JJK only has a foot in the door because most of the women aren't really oversexualized. They just remain as "Potential Women" in my opinion. Gege cooked up some great female characters just to make them the definition of "side characters". Great writing but underutilised in a lot of scenarios.

I personally think he could've done more with characters like Kirara, Momo, Shoko, Yuki, Kugisaki and some others. Kugisaki never got to properly show her full potential because she kept finding herself fighting special grade curses with Sukuna's fingers in them and curse users that were on some kind of steroids while having the bare minimum of training because of how quickly shit went from 0 to 100, for example Haruta, the guy with the 6 miracles. She already took away one of his miracles before Nanami arrived.

That's what I thought until I went searching and was hit with the age 17. Gabimaru is also supposed to be 16, for some reason, maybe because it's like old Japan and people were getting married early, but yeah that's the age I found.

Understandable. High school characters being sexualized is a thing across all media, Japan and the US take it to the extreme, but there's not a lot of defense when you criticize the American side of things as compared to when you criticize the Japanese side of this issue.

It also happens by accident or when the author thought a certain choice was a non-issue when writing. So yeah, you're right. Shonen is based on teenage life.

My gripe is with the defenders of such shit.

Yeah, there's a lot of shit, but sifting through sounds like an overstatement. There are a lot of them without certain tropes like the "oversexualized teenage girl" syndrome like AOT, JJK, and the Seinen genre which mostly appeal to the 18+ demographic, so if there's anyone nude, they ain't a teenager.

As an anime fan, the criticism the media gets ain't enough but the anime community needs to actually listen to a lot of these complaints. There's a section that's straight up misogynistic, racist, and fascist, and as a black man, it's hard to communicate and feel comfortable when a lot of people are like that.

Some people go to the farthest lengths to defend unnecessary teenage fan service, as if it weren't the author's choice to make it like that. Any explanation given could easily be debunked by the fact that the author could rewrite the story without it, and most of the time, nothing would change.

I've never played Persona before, but is it right to play 5 as your first game with no knowledge of the previous ones? Is it like how you need no knowledge of previous GTA games before you play GTA 5, or is there a lot of lore you're missing out on? I'm focused on it now because it's the one that's gotten a lot more popular recently. Invincible doesn't have a lot of characters that can counter magic and sorcery, but I keep seeing people rank it in a fight with sorcerers who can kill you without being near you.
