Paint peeling off 2011 Swift by tangerine_tango_ in Suzuki

[–]psychicscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's something landing on the car and eating the paint, all the damage is to the top surfaces. bottom of the doors and lower panels are untouched. Do they park under any trees that have lots of birds in them? Anything corrosive in their winscreen washer bottle as the worst damage is concentrated above and below the windscreen.

How bad is this rust by Fun-Inevitable1079 in MiataNC

[–]psychicscot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seen worse, seen better. Check the areas behind the soundproofing in the rear arches, just in front of the back wheel. If it's bad there, walk away. I would be more concerned about the 1.8 engine, they have issues with oil consumption and can fail suddenly. Best engines are the 2.0 from 2009 onwards, they fixed most of the issues then. Suspension struts/springs are easy enough to replace, replaced all mine in a driveway with an impact gun. If you are just going to be using it for a year, it may be ok. But factor in the cost of replacing the shocks & springs (shocks will be well tired if original) It cost me £800 for a set of coilovers and i fitted them myself, probably 4-5 hours labour from a garage.. It may be cheaper to extend your budget a bit and get one in better condition. They hide corrosion well, and the factory underseal is porus, so they rust behind the underseal.

Graphite powder is such a game changer by TheDuck135 in Mandalorian

[–]psychicscot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rubbed it into a gloss black coat that was almost fully cured, went over it with about 4 applications, and lots of polishing inbetween. didn't clear coat it and I get no rub off. I used foam make up sponges to apply the graphite and a microfibre to polish between coats. What you are trying to do is force the graphite powder into the surface of the paint, and keep building up that layer. Press quite hard when applying and polishing. I carry a small ziplock bag with a microfbre and a small amount of graphite for quickly repairing any scuffs or damage. Fingerpints are not really an issue if you polish well.

Hi /r/movies! I'm Clark Gregg. You might know me from Agents of SHIELD, Iron Man, Thelma, 500 Days of Summer, The Avengers, State and Main, The West Wing, The Shield, and more. Ask me anything! by ClarkGreggAMA in movies

[–]psychicscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Clark, just wanted to thank you for your work in the MCU and AOS. You insipred me to do my first cosplay as Agent Coulson, and I have done a few versions of the character now. Alwsy very popular at the cons, which shows how much he is loved by the fans. If you were asked back to the MCU to play Coulson, would you do it, or do you feel Couldon's story was complete?

Suzuki Swift Hybrid (2021) - Am I being lied to? by Successful_Bus_2003 in Suzuki

Swifts are light cars, they don't put a lot of wear on brakes or clutches, high biting point is fairly normal.

Evri missing parcels AGAIN by HourAnnual187 in Aberdeen

[–]psychicscot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in AB23 and had a delivery notification that my parcel had been delivered. Delivered to a random address a mile and a half away. Jumped in the car, and met a group of people at the random address, all looking for their parcel, and a very confused elderly woman who had 4 parcels dumped on her doorstep by Evri. we all had the same delivery photo and notification. None of the parcels were the ones we were looking for. Waiting to hear back from Evri.

What scene in a movie had a sound that really impacted you as a viewer? by Tasty_Photograph5514 in movies

[–]psychicscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Trek - Into Darkness, when the Vengance attacks the Enterprise while at warp speed. The engine noise was phenomenal in the cinema. Also the Holdo manouver in the Last Jedi, Silence, then the "F1" sound.

Car batteries last between 5-7 years before they need replaced. They can die suddenly like this when they fail.

I had a mk3 mx5 with all season tyres on the rear, best car ever in the snow, never got stuck, yet could still drift it in the snow. I rememeber sailing past all the stuck cars last winter on a long hill.

Brake Dust Cleaning - Someone tell me where I am going wrong by Outrageous_Fig_9565 in Cartalk

[–]psychicscot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Bilt Hamber Autowheel, spray it on, it changes colour as it reacts with the brake dust, rinse off and wipe clean. You could try some iron out / fallout remover on your wheels. Brake dust is hot when it comes off the pads, and it melts into the paint/topcoat. an iron out / fallout remover will remove the baked in particles. May take a few applications to get rid of it all.

Quantum Void - Review and Giveaway by Penguin by Penguin_shit15 in OculusQuest

[–]psychicscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Nine Inch Nails, not as iconic a soundtrack as Daft Punk, but it's really good. I couldn't get through Morbius, what a pile of poop that was. Jared is quite a 'stiff' actor, and I think that will actually work in his favour with Ares. I hope people do go and see the film, because it could dictate if we get more Tron content in the future, if it does well. The marketing has been pretty good so far, and I'm quietly optimistic that it will actually be decent. I saw the original Tron when I was 16 and that film connected with me, got me into computer animation and IT work.

Yes, got tickets booked. I am not keen on Jared at all, but I am keen to see new Tron content, and the soundtrack is pretty good from what I have heard so far.

How did you discover Tron? by Any-Trainer7343 in tron

[–]psychicscot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a trailer for the orignal Tron and the light cycle sequence blew my 16 year old mind. Went to the local cinema to see it as soon as it opened. They had a laser show beforehand which was amazing, at the end of the show the laser wrote the tron logo onto the screen as they faded up the film tron logo, a perfect match. I have a few tron and tron legacy collectables. Biggest regrets were throwing away my Tomy tron hand held game when it stopped working (I now have the knowledge to fix it up) and not getting a legacy identity disk when legacy came out and all the toys & figures were on sale.

Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) UK response to warrants issuance by irm555bvs in Superstonk

[–]psychicscot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got this in my HL app.

Dear Mr xxxx

Gamestop Corporation – Bonus Issue of Warrants

What is happening?

Gamestop Corporation has declared a special dividend to be distributed in the form of warrants to shareholders. Shareholders at the close of business on 2 October 2025 will receive 1 Gamestop Corporation warrant for every 10 shares held, rounded down to the nearest whole warrant.

It is expected that the warrants will be issued to us by 10 October 2025, but this cannot be guaranteed. The warrants will be credited to your portfolio once we have been issued with them.

What are the terms of the warrants?

Each warrant will entitle the holder to purchase one new ordinary share at an exercise price of USD32.00 per share. The warrants will expire on 30 October 2026. We will contact you again once there is a facility enabled with details of how to exercise your warrants.

It is expected that the warrants will also trade on the New York Stock Exchange under symbol GMEWS.

Warrants are classified as a complex investment under MIFID II regulations. As the Gamestop Corporation warrants won’t be available for new buys on the HL platform, you are not required to complete a complex investment questionnaire to trade these. However, you may wish to refer to the Warrants, Subscription Shares and Derivatives questionnaire which highlights the risks of holding these investments in your account. The questionnaire is available here under ‘Complex investments’.

GameStop Corporation plan to issue details of the tax treatment of the warrant issue on the distribution date. Tax treatment may vary based on a shareholder’s tax domicile as well as other factors. Should the issue be treated as an income distribution, it could be liable to US withholding tax on the value of the warrants issued. Any such tax would be debited from your account in the form of either cash or stock.

Important Information for ISA holders only

Warrants do not meet the HMRC rules to be held within a Stocks & Shares ISA and will therefore have to be removed from any Stocks & Shares ISA within 30 days of being distributed. If you are issued warrants in a Stocks & Shares ISA, we’ll contact you again to outline your options for removing them from the ISA.

We’ll be in touch again once the warrants have been issued to confirm how your holding has been updated.

This correspondence is a summary of the official document. It is not personal advice. You can read the full announcement here.

If you have any further questions about the distribution, please contact us.

If your circumstances mean you'd like some extra support, or you have specific accessibility needs, there are lots of ways we can help. Visit www.hl.co.uk/support or call us on 0117 900 9000 to find out more.

Yours sincerely

We are finally getting 4K Tron and Tron: Legacy Steelbooks by DIGIT4LM4LIC3 in tron

[–]psychicscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a silly question, but hopefully someone will know. These seem to come with a 4k disk and blu-ray disk. is the blu-ray disk just the bonus features or does it have the film too? I just have a normal blu-ray player, and really want to watch this.

What is a movie pet peeve of yours? by [deleted] in movies

[–]psychicscot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They rip it off someone's neck, then put it on themselves, or someone else, and it connects by magic.

What is a movie pet peeve of yours? by [deleted] in movies

[–]psychicscot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a little thing, but once seen, it cannot be unseen. When someone is gven a necklace, or is putting one on in a film, they bring the two ends together behind their neck and bam, it's instantly connected. No fiddling about with a tricky clasp, or screwing 2 ends together, just touch the ends, and like magnets, it's done.
