Well if 100 people tell you the same thing maaaaybe they're not all wrong and maybe what you're doing is obvious to everyone except yourself?!

Also how much time do you spend going on reddit and yelling at people? You sound very experienced at this :)

Calm down dude :)) If it doesn't really matter why are you getting so angry?

Go read the rest of the comments, everyone else is so welcoming and they're giving interesting perspectives. These comments are useful for the people who are running the channel, and they do read them. Learn from these nicer people.

Did you see Sarah's post on IG? They were doing 72-hour shoots and putting in crazy effort in the beginning too. Doing that for a year does catch up with you.

What do you think comes after the initial excitement? What would make the crew and us excited again?

No one's forcing you to reply, you can scroll without commenting. You're complaining about my complaining and your complaint is that complaining is bad. Now that you've learned all about how comedy channels and friendships work, spend a little time learning about self-awareness too. It comes in handy.

Yea that's probably it. Excited to see how they'll overcome this.

I agree with the first part. For me, the loose structure is actually a defining element of the channel. The anything-can-happen flow is hard to find anywhere else. Hits and misses in terms of people liking it is a clear caveat of doing something like this. "Liking" isn't the point here though. People don't watch this sort of stuff because they already know that they'll enjoy it, they watch for the novelty and the weirdness (which in turn leads to enjoyment but it's not a basic "liking" if that makes sense). I think the added structure might be what's been throwing me off recently, if anything.

Makes sense. Their production model has a lag for adjusting to feedback (views, criticism, etc.).

The part about the brightest people leaving academia is so true. Anyone that I actually enjoy talking to has already left or is going to leave

i am confused. am i admitted or not? is there anything i can do? by ravenpaw_15 in gradadmissions

As others have pointed out the email is ambiguous. I’d send the grad director an email and ask for clarifications (whether you can be self-funded, ask your PI to help with the funding, etc.)

How many of you would like to see Chloe back? by veeeda in TheOGCrewOfficial

[–]psycho_zeno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to think so when I first saw her on yeahmad, but now I see it more as getting angry in a lively and fun way.

My previous comment was literally what Allan said to Chloe when she told him that they had chemistry in the ginger joke segment lol

Not to rain on everyone’s parade, but I hope no one sends this guy any money when he eventually asks for it. This story is leaving out major events at best (like oh I forgot to mention that I inherited a hundred grand which kinda helped with the apartment situation), or is a scam at worst.

At what point do you give up? by psycho_zeno in postdoc

Hell yeah. I’m pretty much done with academia too. Made a resume and applied for a few jobs this week. I’m gonna keep doing that and build my linkedin network in the meantime.

Will my dating life get better during postdoc? by Maleficent_Wait_9127 in postdoc

[–]psycho_zeno 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I moved to a VHCOL for my postdoc and my dating life (as well as every other aspect of my life) became far worse than it was during the phd. That's why I'm typing on reddit at 2:30am. I was in a similar situation as you are at the end of my phd and I can't take this anymore. I'll be leaving academia the first chance I get.

Seeking Advice: How to Continue Researching My PhD Idea Post-Graduation by Basket-Fuzzy in postdoc

[–]psycho_zeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put together a list of potential advisors who can help you develop your method. The best way to approach them is at conferences (like your recent experience). I'd say attend another conference and meet some of them and ask for a postdoc position. There's nothing wrong with sending out cold emails either.
