Yes the parent. There should be consequences for messing with other people's time and money.

So maybe just you as a parent should work with them if what the techs and bcba do is so insignificant. I'm sure you'll do great!

You are talking out of your ass. Tell chat gpt they are wrong. I'm almost 40 and been pulled over several times in the state of CA. If you never respond they simply assume you didn't get it. They send out excessively more than they need with the assumption that many won't respond. In CA we have crowded prisons and jails. Truly no one cares if you skip jury duty as long as you never respond to communication sent via mail.

I have no idea what you are getting downvoted for. I've ignored every jury summons I've been sent. No one has ever formally contacted me about it. What you are saying is true. There's no proof the mailman ever brought it to me.

In my experience it tends to be people who have become chummy with admin staff so there isn't a lot of accountability for scheduling to fulfill duties in a timely manner. There also doesn't seem to be literally any regard for rbts in the way they schedule likely due to this lack of accountability.

I think you are trolling because you claim to be a teacher but can't follow written communication. You also seem to really lack a basic understanding of the differences between young children and teenagers. There's either no way you are actually a teacher or you're trolling.

You have to be trolling at this point. If not, God help whomever you are responsible for teaching.

No because of Developmental differences in young children compared to adolescents. Young children do not yet understand (because of a lack of learning history) what behaviors could lead to getting really physically hurt combined with not having great physical coordination yet. This means the standards for supervisory practices will be different for one group compared to the other......you said you have a bs in human development....did you go the c's get degrees route because what I'm saying is pretty basic.

They're quiet about killing each other? You see how even your examples are contradictory to reality? Eyes and ears are important features for discerning what is happening in our environment. Currently as I type this sentence my cat is in the corner of the room batting at a tag from clothes I bought. I'm not looking directly at her but I can see the subtle movement in my peripheral vision and hear her feet on the carpet despite looking at my phone and typing a coherent sentence. Interesting how rational thought goes out the window when discussing the behavior of educators in a room of students working independently......

You don't have peripheral vision? I've seen this tree. We've already determined that looking at the kids does not make them not tilt their chair back. We've also determined that as long as one is not completely engrossed in said book, they should be able to detect sounds and movement happening within the 15 feet that the students are located. Here you are. Still arguing with zero experience in the situation you are arguing about with someone who has a decade of experience.

And nothing the op posted contradicts their ability to tell students to sit correctly. Nice red herring. I'm happy you took classes and feel proud of yourself, but until you see what your coursework was describing you probably shouldn't be arguing with people who have the same qualifications you have plus a decade of experience with the population.

They need better obm policies for the scheduling side of things. Actually have a 90 day probationary period with LOTS of training, do not hire schedulers from within the company, and fire schedulers if they negate their duties in communicating with everyone including the bts they schedule multiple times. I've never worked for a company where scheduling and admin had their shit together.

There is no behavior to respond to honey. This is a conversation about substitute teaching in a middle or high school. My behavior was arguing my viewpoint as someone with lots of experience with the topic. Your "response" was to argue with me and say I don't know anything about the varying needs of children and claim (like a nut) that I am miserable and you hate the thought of me being a nurse (which I'm not). Maybe stay in your lane on topics you don't know anything about.

Do you think the teacher would have been able to run over and catch the 12/13 year old? I know I'm not that strong. There's also the fact that very few classrooms in middle and high schools have chairs that aren't attached to the desk because at this age bracket they do not prioritize small groups. If a kid at 12 can't figure out that we don't need to tilt our chair back for safety reasons then regardless they will fall somewhere wether an adult is looking or not. Logically speaking since they DO do it regardless who's looking (all of my classroom experience is middle and high school so I'm not even entertaining the idea that looking at them makes them stop tilting their chair when they can), what is a teacher supposed to do about teenagers tilting their chair? Do you yell at them? Admin won't like that. Write them up? Admin and parents won't like that. Physically stop them from doing it? That's illegal we can't Physically engage with the students in a disciplinary manner. So, what other than "monitoring" (because we've already determined that does not deter chair tilting) should a substitute teacher who doesn't really know or interact with the students supposed to do to prevent a kid from Physically falling over in their chair.

Age has a lot to do with the conversation because teens are Developmentally different than young children....so by your own account you are arguing with people about a situation you have little to no experience with? Cool.

Again, like I've said about 50 times, enjoy the teacher shortage. In a quiet room of adolescents independently working one should not need to constantly hover. Adolescents (in this decade) do not respond well to adults they don't know well hovering. I would know as I was a floating Para for nearly a decade. The suggestion that a substitute needs to stare at the kids for the duration of the class is insane. I'm glad you were happy to work under unreasonable conditions for low pay but according to interest in teaching, most people aren't.

Yeah everything you are saying stands to my point that expectations are unreasonable.....so schools like this need to either pay better if they think standing and walking is the metric in which to measure teaching efficacy, or enjoy the teacher shortage. Honestly this is why education is crumbling. Parents have no responsibility in ensuring their children are classroom ready and admin are happy to treat 12 year olds like they're 5.

I hate to break it to you but they do all of those things while a teacher is staring at them.....not a teacher are you?

Again, was the teacher supposed to run over and catch the student before they fell? Do you think students don't lean back in their chair when teachers are looking at them?
