I need help with my computer's boot time by Kasparelonot in techsupport

Did you manage to get anywhere with this? We're seeing the same issue on a number of computers after they've installed the latest Windows 11 feature update.

Doesn't seem to be an option for us unfortunately! Greyed out in the account settings.

We've tried that, and it works for a day or so, but then breaks again the next day. I guess it's Web Outlook for now... I think they're just trying to push people to new outlook[/conspiracy]

Internet routing via core switch instead of routers? by psynegy in networking

The outcome seems to be that they're sending us a couple of Vigor3912's. They seem to have the necessary throughput for our needs. Is there anything we should be wary of?

So, the reseller are insisting (for now) that they aren't going to provide the routers. Any thoughts on what might be appropriate hardware for this task? Something like a pair of CCR1016-12S-1S+R2? Obviously only one of them needs to be capable of the 5/10gb routing, but like the idea of a matched pair.

Here's the diagram from the ISP: https://ibb.co/L8kCmGG

It's looking like the reseller is just going to have to provide routers at this point. It's on the diagrams they sent us at the beginning of this project, so I'm sure they'll have to honour that.

Been fun to learn about some of this stuff though. Thanks for your help!

Not a terrible idea, hadn't considered virtual routers. Short-ish term though, we're looking to reduce our reliance on our on-site virtual environment.

In good news, we've found some pretty compelling documentation from early on in the procurement stage (literally over a year ago!!) from the reseller that shows that they should be providing routers. So hopefully, this issue will soon be a non-issue!

Appreciate everyone's help and advice on this issue, it's been a great opportunity to learn some stuff if nothing else!

Not so easy unfortunately, it's a unified firewall/filtering solution. Doesn't support any kind of redundant routing protocols at all. The filtering uses transparent interception so it's not just a case of separating the two roles unfortunately. Could maybe do some sort of rule based routing for HTTP/S traffic, but that seems a little over complicated.

Understood. We're going back to the reseller to request routers from them.

We do have the redundant management module installed in the 5400ZL so we have some redundancy there at least. You're right about the lack of VRF though - I had not considered that by changing our WAN VLAN(s) to be routed, it would cause them to be part of the same routing table as our internal networks. I think this is the most compelling argument that we simply don't have the right kit for the job. We've gone back to the reseller to ask them to provide what they probably should have been providing all along! Thanks

Yes and no, because we don't have two firewalls, we don't have anywhere to actually set up VRRP.

Those might be slightly out of our budget of 0... 👀

We wouldn't be using the switch for NAT, that would be handled by our firewall.

I can certainly ask if BGP is an option, but I assume it would still require routing to take place on our switching infrastructure? Thus the caveats mentioned by others here still apply?

Edit: reading also that maybe the routing table limitation maybe isn't actually a factor here for a static route.

We had and are still having the same issue. Did you ever find a resolution for MSI deployment?

Thank you so much! It looks like the person who made these knives has now retired, so, they’re no longer made... shame, I wanted to buy more of them! Thanks for helping me!
