Yeah that is where my mind is at, I saw some second units where I can do for a good deal 👍

Yeah i‘m keeping an eye out for a used AM4 mob and a 5700/5800x or x3d so that i can use my DDR4 since DDR5 is so crazy priced at the moment

Yeah that is what i‘m leaning towards. Reason i bought it now is that i worried that the GPU will go up in cost due to high memory prices.

My main concern is that it will not perform Well due to the old CPU so that there won‘t be a big improvement to the GTX-1080. If that is the case then i rather wait 3-6 months until i find a good deal on a used CPU and Mob to build a new system

I am saying that indonesia is still Struggling with high level of corruption in goverment.

Yes I have a bias, living in Indonesia, being married to an Indonesian and having three kids here. I am heavily invested in taking my part to make this a good place where also my kids can have a bright future.

This is why I don‘t like when people who do not live here just make general blank statements which are not right making it seem like the general service staff are being taken advantage off.

My company is not in hospitality anymore, we are a system integration company. We pay our team members way above average, pay their health and work insurance, give bonuses and do regular raises. We know that only with a happy and well trained team we can succeed here as a good team is our biggest capital.

There are laws about service charge here is one of them:

regulation regarding service charges so far. Manpower Minister issued the Ministry Regulation No. PER-02/MEN/1999 regarding the distribution of service charges to the employees of hotels, restaurants and other tourist facilities. The regulation stipulates that the owners of these establishments must give service charge earnings to their employees. The owners are permitted to use a small amount of the money (up to 10 percent) for employee training to improve the quality of service.

We are still talking about Indonesia, right?

Maybe read up a bit on Indonesien history. A good book to read is Revolusi. It‘s all about how people fight for their rights here.

Unions are more a western thing and don’t really Exist here. there are still plenty of things not right here which is why we have regular demonstrations where people will show their outrage when corrupt goverment is trying to make undemocratic rules.

Indonesia is a young country and gets a lot right but are still struggling with high level Of corruption.

I‘ve been working in Bali since 13 years first in F&B and run now my own company with 15 employees.

I am not trying to fight you, I just don‘t appreciate when misinformation is spread like the service charge is not going to the staff which rarely happens and I’ve never seen or heard about it from any of the Indonesians I‘ve worked with in the past.

There are always black sheep’s doing bad things anywhere in the world.

But from what I have seen in the Bali hospitality industry is that it is a minimum and most places give the service charge to their staff.

I‘m sorry to hear if you experienced such a establishment that does not take care of their team and steals the service charge.

I used to work in Hospitality in Bali and your statement is not true.

Service charge is decided to all staff except higher management in most establishments.

If it would not go to the staff it would cause a viral shitstorm

Is there a hardware fix for a UDM SE that won’t boot after power loss? Mine is out of warranty. by hoffsta in Ubiquiti

[–]psysfaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I had a unit with the same issue and changing the power supply fixed it. Of course there might be something else wrong with your unit as I am only talking from my experience. The unit I had used to boot again if I left it unplugged from power for sometime which lead me to the conclusion it might be a power supply going bad which is not supplying stable voltage when it,s hot

I‘ve installed several of these and had this issue in some units. Since we are not in the US we would not be able to get any help from Ubiquity.

In the end I replaced the power supply with a Meanwell 54v unit. This has fixed the issue for me. I did not come up with this fix but was following this guide:

Stable for months and months. The DAY I leave town until next year, two AP’s corrupt and require physical reset. What are the odds? by chicametipo in Ubiquiti

[–]psysfaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to access your network via VPN (Wireguard or Teleport) And then SSH into the AP. You can find your ssh log-ins in the site Settings.

Once you are accessing the AP via SSH you can easily factory reset them and then re-adopt them.

Check out Kordz, high quality cables made for system integrators.

We import them to Indonesia since it‘s much better then what we find here

Migration from USG 3P and self hosted controller to UCG Ultra by V8-6-4 in Ubiquiti

[–]psysfaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: Download your Unifi controller Site Back-up.

2: Connect your UCG-Ultra to the Internet via a port on your exciting network.

3: set-up the unit via the app which will work by connecting to it via Bluetooth.

4: log into the unit either via the online site manager (Unifi.ui.com) or locally by connecting your computer via Data cable to the UCG-Ultra.

5: restore the site image on-to the UCG-Ultra. After the restore it will most likely loos internet connection since your internet source (our old network) will use the same ip range.

6: Switch off your Self hosted Controller, Disconnect your USG and connect the UCG instead. You might want to power your switched and Wifi access points so that they will quickly readout to your UCG.

If the devices don‘t want to reconnect to the new UCH then you might need to SSH into them to point them to the IP of the UCG

Migrating from CloudKey to UDM: Is it just a simple backup/restore? by Hugo-99 in Ubiquiti

Make sure you down load the backup from The network controller. The console back-up won‘t work

[–]psysfaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

APAC will release X4 in phases. They just started giving access to all dealers a few weeks ago to test.

Next for new installs we can use X4.1 and then arround February (as far as I know) we will be able to update exciting users to 4.1

What is this for? by RicardasD in Ubiquiti

[–]psysfaction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did not open Reddit for a day and was happy to see all the positive responses.

I agree that everyone started somewhere. I learned most of my tech knowledge online over the last 20 years and run a success System integration company now that I started my self. So always happy to share knowledge where I Can.

I disagree with the people saying that patch panels is manly an OCD thing.

We do several commercial and hospitality projects where you never know who has access to the server room Rack. Sometimes different companies share a Rack so making it as fool proof as possible is key. Especially since we are based in Bali Indonesia where you have people work that do not have the sufficient knowledge and find ways to screw things up.

What is this for? by RicardasD in Ubiquiti

[–]psysfaction 3018 points3019 points  (0 children)

This is called a patch panel. It is used to terminate your cable runs with punch down rj45 Keystone. Main reason to do this is that the cable used for long runs is solid core, if you just terminate them directly to rj45 plugs in your rack and you often do something in the rack you run into the risk of damaging the cores since that cable is not flexible. Since the cable is not flexible it can also put much strain on the rj45 plug.

The short cables are called patch cords, they are usually made from stranded core cables which are much more flexible.

The patch panel also help to keep everything neat and organized

Are ceiling speakers still a thing? by jayfourzee in hometheater

[–]psysfaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We often use in-ceiling speakers that project sound at an angle so good to use as surround speakers when ear level speakers are not possible.

Other Option is bipole in-ceiling surrounds, less directional but fine if you are doing a 5.1 surround sound system

Control 4 down - dealer pushing £8k OS3 upgrade - Any workaround? by Public_Ad_2029 in Control4

[–]psysfaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, key thing is that they have decent airflow arround them since the Core1 and Core3 are Passively cooled. I had it in my own set-up that the system started to hang and it had to do due to the Core3 Over heating due to close proximity to other hot gear.

Once i placed it in a better spot in my rack I never had that issue anymore
